Let Woodwinds blow away all your worries! Located in Soundside Kinnakeet Shores, this spacious home offers over 3,300 square feet of extraordinary furnishings. The ground level features ample parking, a carport, a fish station, an outdoor shower, a private hot tub, a fantastic unheated pool with lounge chairs, a sundeck, and a tropical bar.

The first level has a sheltered entry, a cabana room with a wet bar and a fridge, a laundry room, a bathroom, and the first queen bedroom. The second level features two gorgeous main bedrooms, each with a private bath. Bedrooms 4 and 5 on the second level each have pyramid bunk beds; full on bottom, twin on top, and share access to a full bathroom in the adjacent hallway. Wind down in the den with surround sound and a game table. Upstairs, you'll find an expansive great room with a powder room, cathedral ceilings, and views of the sound and a neighboring freshwater lake. Relax on cozy furnishings and enjoy music from the entertainment center, both inside and outside, on the deck. Sit comfortably while watching your favorite shows on the Roku-capable smart TVs throughout the home. The main floor TV also has cable, so your choices are always plentiful. An expansive main suite has a fantastic private bath and deck access. Woodwinds' superb kitchen with a breakfast bar and a nearby dining area has everything you need to satisfy the chef in your party.

The private pool is open seasonally from 4/26/2025 and closes 10/12/2025. Dates are subject to change.

Guests have access to Kinnakeet Shores Pool & Tennis. You will receive an amenity pass during check-in to utilize the shared facility.
You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking, which will be sent to your email. You will not be able to check in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement.

Great for a multi generation family 6 to 86 years!!

Pet friendly, spacious, pool and hot tub. Privacy and room for family fun. Wildlife to watch deer, turtles, frogs, geese. Easy access to the beach and sound.

Great for large family and/or friend groups.

The kitchen had EVERYTHING needed for meals, snacks and cocktails. Even thoughtful extras (think shrimp cleaners). Plenty of baby/toddler gear that made traveling super easy. Loved the pool and tiki bar as well!

Great vacation house.

This is our family's fourth time to stay in Woodwinds. The house is well maintained and well equiped with items needed for a relaxing and restful vacation. The location is terrific. We could walk to the beach, access the sound to go kayaking, and walk to the Food Lion. We like the fact that there are three master bedrooms, only the kids have to share bathrooms!

Fabulous Family Fun

Woodwinds is a wonderful home to enjoy family fun and have a great adventure. Short easy walk to the beach easy access to groceries and Duck Donuts and all the comforts of home. I could not have asked for more !!!

The house was perfect size for our family of 10 and the location is perfect as well. You can’t go wrong with an OBX house that has a pool and a hot tub AND is close to grocery shopping. Couldn’t ask for a better set up.

Beautiful home!

The home was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a lovely vacation. Everyone was able to have their own space and there are plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, and televisions for everyone. The house was extremely clean, comfortable, and well organized. If you are looking for a place to stay, you should definitely consider Woodwinds!

Wonderful Beach Stay

Our family had a wonderful stay at Woodwinds! The house is clean and the layout is spacious yet cozy. The main necessities - towels, bedding, dishware, etc. - are provided so you can start your vacation right away. We also enjoyed the location near shopping and restaurants, as well as the short walk to the beach. The communication with the rental company was easy and it was a pleasant surprise to have a welcome email and treat from the homeowners upon arrival. Overall, we had a great week and would recommend this home to others.

Home away from Home

As soon as you enter Woodwinds the feeling of calm and relaxation comes over you...the feeling of Aaaahhh. Everything you need for a relaxing week is waiting for you from kitchen ware to pool. Woodwinds is well maintained and the owner's pride shines through. Easy walk to the beach, stores and restaurants. All you need to bring is the sunshine!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Woodwinds!

The home is maintained well, has a great layout and is very clean. It's cozy and feels like home, according to our 2 kids. The beds were quite comfortable also. The wet bar and bathroom on the bottom floor are convenient to the pool. Loved having the pool at the house if we didn't want to go to the beach. The neighborhood is good for walks or biking. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay at Woodwinds! We greatly appreciated the hand written note and welcome gift from the owners!

Excellent stocked house

This house seems to have everything you’d need, especially in the kitchen. Just look around and you’ll find whatever it is you need. As far as outside, a little shade around the pool area would be nice. Maybe a “sail” or a pergola type setting with a cover at the end by the driveway. There was just no relief unless you were in the water or in the house. Bedrooms were very comfortable. The house is spacious enough for having so many bedrooms. It’s not like you are right on top of each other. There is plenty of space to find your own “spot”. All in all we had a terrific visit to OBX. We came from TX, MD, and NY for a small reunion and we all had a wonderful time. A very easy walk to the beach too. But be sure to wear some sort of shoe on the beach because that sand is scorching hot. Can’t wait to return!

We just returned home from Woodwinds. The home was absolutely everything we could have asked for! Beautifully maintained and furnished with everything one could ask for. Only thing our teens could find wrong was that lower level TVs didn't have complete range of cable channels. Neighborhood beautiful with close walk to beach and stores. Year round neighbors fantastic when we needed an emergency vet! Wish we were still there!

Thanks for the feedback about the downstairs TV's. We will look into the channel access issue. We really strive to keep our home hassle free. One of the many benefits of our location is that there are a number of local folks who reside in our sub-division year round. These folks are extremely friendly and helpful; just about the best neighbors you could ask for! You had mentioned needing the services of a vet, I hope that you dog is well. We are animal lovers, as you might have guessed, by the pet supplies and toys located in the pet box downstairs. Hopefully your pet recovered quickly and was able to enjoy sunning on the upper deck and frolicking on the beach. Thanks again for choosing Woodwinds. We hope you will come back and stay with us again some time soon!

Windwards Stay

Very nice house. Linens and sheets was a very appreciated touch. Wish there had been a diagram of rooms ahead of time. It would have assisted in assigning our family to rooms. We knew what they looked like but proximity of rooms to kids is a consideration for us. We were not sure where to go to the beach but finally figured out a place that allowed parking. Everything else was great!!!

First timers to this seashore. The home was more than we even expected. A welcome gift from the owners on the counter was a warm touch. The home was clean. Sheets and towels provided helped us with packing so much. Amenities were enjoying by all. Outdoor shower was a game changer. Pool after a day on the beach just fit right. Lots to do from a southern rock concert near the pier to a simple bike ride. Beautiful home, well maintained and designed for multiple family fun. Go again? Absolutely!

Space was great!

We loved the house and the space it offered, especially for the price. It came with everything we needed. For those without 4x4 for beach driving it was a bit of a hike to the beach with little ones. It also was not nearly as clean as we hoped. Carpets weren't vacuumed and there was pet hair everywhere. Overall, our priorities were enough bedrooms and bathrooms for the 3 families vacationing at a price that all could afford and that is what this house was perfect for!

Woodwinds was a heavenly get away!

Woodwinds was a summer house that has everything one could want in a vacation home. The inside of the house is decorated beautifully and it was very clean! You never felt that you were in a rental home and the kitchen belongings were high quality! The kids had so much to do that they were always busy and happy. The house has a well kept pool, games, tv's and modern conveniences and books to read. The location is perfect if you like to walk to the store or beach! You can't help but relax when you are there. We highly recommend this rental and will go back again soon! The restaurants in town were tasty but cooking at the house was just as satisfying! The owner and management were professional and we had no problems in any way! The area is perfect for kiting, boating, beach, hikes, bikes and fun. The lighthouse is a must see! ENJOY!

Good stay, but pictures were misleading

Overall wonderful stay, Property and area were perfect. Biggest complaint is that the appeal for our group was the play room for the little ones. The playroom has been locked is no longer available for guest. This was extremely disappointing. Listing needs to be updated. There were a few plumbing issues, but they were resolved timely by property management. Lastly, cleaning crew did not thoroughly go through things prior to arrival. Two rooms had clothing left in dresser from previous occupants. Overall, great experience!

Great location

This was our first time in Avon NC. It was a great choice for Outer Banks. We enjoyed our stay at Woodwinds. The house had a great layout and plenty of room for our entire family. It was nice to have everyone spread out. The kitchen was well stocked. Loved the multi levels of decking. We spent a lot of time in the pool especially since we had little ones with us. The pool company was super attentive when we called about cleaning it. They arrived within 30 minutes. We loved the hot tub at night even though it was warm. Easy ten minute walk to the ocean. Lots of good restaurants in the area and the grocery store was a 4 minute drive. Super convenient to have a lower level fridge for extra space. The owners were easy to communicate with and quick to respond to messages.

We all loved this house.

This was our first time doing anything like this. We are so happy we did. The house was just what we needed in many ways. Just enought bedroom, very well equipted kitchen, loved the washer & dryer. The toy room was a surprise ( we had a 2 year old with us) He spent a lot of time there. He called it his room! There were many hours spent in the pool but walking distance to the beach was nice too. Local food stores near by along with good resturants. The area of Avon was great with very pleasant people. This was in a very quiet neighborhood. The kids all had bikes and we felt good about letting them go with out an adult. There was 14 of us and we all had plenty of space. The decor was very pleasing to the feel of the ocean theme. Saying goodby on Saturday morning was hard to do. We loved this home and would consider coming back again.

Wonderful time at Woodwinds

Our stay at Woodwinds was wonderful, we could not have asked for a better place to stay. The house is everything as you see in the photos. It was so enjoyable sitting out on the deck with the morning cup of coffee, so peaceful. The rooms are spacious and perfect for a family gathering. It has a fully stocked kitchen, with all the comforts of home. The rooms were immaculate the decorations throughout gives the home a very welcoming feeling. The home has lots fun family games and movies to enjoy. It is well equipped for small infants to teenagers. The owners were very helpful, they gave us a lot of good information to make a trip special. This was our first time in the Outerbanks and we loved Avon. It is a quiet town, with close beaches. The beaches are beautiful, Frisco beach was my favorite. We enjoyed watching the dolphins from the beach, they were amazing and were present all day. I would recommend the beach driving pass which was fun and convenient. We enjoyed the lighthouse, and a day in Kittyhawk to visit the sand dunes, and Wright Brothers Museum. The night dolphin cruise was fun. I would highly recommend this home to friends and family. It was truly a great stay!

Thank you so much for your positive feedback. September is one of the best kept secrets as there are fewer vacationers and the ocean temperatures are still very warm. The fall season is also a great time to view dolphins from the beach. Hatteras island offers a variety of different beaches; each one unique in its' own way. Beautiful, Comfy Home

When we arrived it was obvious this was a well cared for home. The rooms were spacious and there was plenty of room for all 8 of us to either spend time all together or separate and be out of each other's way. The game selection was great. My niece and nephew and I had plenty to keep us occupied during "down time". The outside decks were huge and both the top floor and second floor had beautiful views. The pool area was spacious and the pool was clean and well-maintained as was the hot tub. The master bedroom on the top floor was beautiful with a great bathroom. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook large meals or just make quick, small lunches. And the charcoal grills were great for steaks and fish. The 4 bedrooms on the second floor were all large and decorated beautifully. And the small living room was nice to just relax before getting ready to go out or go to bed. The bedroom on the bottom floor was a bit small, my husband and I started out there the first night, but it was too cramped for us and our 2 small dogs. We switched rooms with my niece and she seemed to be pleased with the space. Even though we were right next to another house it was very quiet and felt secluded. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because we were very tired after traveling and when we pulled back the blankets to sleep we realized we had to make our bed and we were expected to vacuum and strip the beds when we left. We all realized this was not the same as staying at a hotel with a cleaning staff, but the cleaning staff that was in the Saturday we checked in didn't do a great job. When we cleaned I found a lot of short, black dog hair and my dogs are fluffy, blonde dogs. This has nothing to do with the owner, it's more on Hatteras Realty who are in charge of the cleaning staff, but it was surprising. On a side note, and a big plus in my book, we were there during the black out (our checkout date was the date the Hatteras Island evacuation went in to effect and this also made the idea of cleaning taxing with no air conditioning and sporadic bouts of electricity) and the owner was very kind in contacting us to find out if there was anything she could do for us and showed genuine concern. Overall, our whole family has agreed we'd stay at Woodwinds again in a heartbeat.
