What a marvelous place to stay! Casa Contenta is a beautiful, comfortable home with amazing decor. The home is located a little north of Taos in a quiet setting with beautiful views. The old Spanish style home is beautifully decorated with stained glass windows in the bathrooms, amazing art and pottery, wooden tables and cupboards, and quirky lights/decorations. The beds are very comfortable, the livingroom is a wonderful place to relax, the kitchen is super-well equipped, and the deck provided a lovely setting for morning coffee. The bathrooms contain good quality, thick towels as well as many toiletries; there's an Alexa for music; a TV and everything else anyone could want/need. Importantly, the home was cool even on hot days, without needing to use the newly installed swamp cooler. We loved the house so much that we carved time out of our sight-seeing plans to stay "home" and take advantage of the wonderful Casa Contenta. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful stay

We stayed at this house for our trip to the Taos Ski Valley. TSV was approximately 25-30 minutes drive from the house. The house was very comfortable and the location was good.

great place, beautiful views, lovely yard

we thoroughly enjoyed this well equipped and roomy home. the only thing that would have made it better is doors instead of the curtains on some of rooms — so the toddler could sleep better when the oldsters were used in the night.

The house was beautiful inside and out. It was wonderfully decorative and artful. The house was well stocked with everything that one would need. All of the bedrooms and two bathrooms are downstairs with the kitchen and living room upstairs. There were many places throughout the house to just sit and read. The hosts were thoughtful and communicative. I would stay here again.

Loved this VRBO

We loved everything about this property! The upstairs patio was probably our favorite part. But I can’t think of one thing we didn’t like about it. Plenty of room, owners responded quickly to messages. Neat, clean, wonderful decorative touches. We didn’t want to leave!

Wonderful House

Our stay at Casa Contenta was wonderful. We had beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The house was very clean and uniquely Taos. Everything was easy to use with clear directions. Next time we are in Taos, we will try to stay here again. Thanks for the experience!

Cozy stay for visiting Taos/skiing

We had a great stay at this cozy and beautifully decorated adobe home. The owners were very responsive and communicative when a plumbing issue cropped up right before we arrived, and it was taken care of immediately. The space and sleeping arrangements were perfect, all beds were comfy, and three full bathrooms made our stay easy for a larger group. The location has great views of the valley and mountains, is just outside Taos and a 25 min drive from Taos ski valley, which was perfect for our plans.

Magical!

Beautiful yet practical. We discoverd something new everyday. It's spacious and the pictures do not do it justice. So many places inside and outside to use. We felt so fortunate to have found this place. Tranquil, colorful, and fun. Location was perfect. Thank you for sharing this place!

Coming to Taos? Look no further!

Casa Contenta is absolutely out of a magazine! The property is beautiful and well maintained. We took our family of five and Absolutely loved every minute of our vacation. Bedrooms are located downstairs which was ideal for those traveling with kids. Our little one could be put to bed and the rest of us could stay up and talk, play games, watch tv, etc. The house has absolutely everything you will need! The drive to the square and to ski valley are very short and convenient. The owners are so sweet, kind, and accommodating. We contacted Terry for some ideas for activities for our almost two year old and she knew exactly where we could take her! I seriously cannot say enough about our experience in Taos and at Casa Contenta...wonderful memories were made here!

Really beautiful place with incredible views from the deck—we saw several stunning sunsets! The house is thoughtfully decorated and well stocked with essentials. The first bedroom when you walk in is quite large and has a door to the outside stairs up to the deck. There is a curtain instead of a door from the inside, but the door is tucked away so privacy wasn’t an issue. The map/game room is more of a widened part of the hallway, but has adequate space for a mattress on the floor if extra sleeping room is needed. The master bedroom is smaller but has an attached bathroom and was comfortable with a great view! It also has a door to the outside bit on the opposite side from the stairs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and didn’t want to leave. The hosts were very responsive and we felt well taken care of! Oh— the outside areas are so cute, with seating in alcoves tucked among bushes and trees. We were there in July, and the house was nice and cool inside despite some hot days. Would definitely book again!

Filled with great art

Our three generations were mostly sick or injured by the time everyone arrived. So we spent more time in than venturing out. We appreciated all the spaces to lounge and be horizontal. We are a close family, so having more sleeping space outside of the two proper bedrooms worked fine. This house is great for families with kids over the age of 6 or 7. Many nice things down low will be nerve racking for families with little kids. The engineers in the group had a fun time trying to figure out what was old (original to the structure), what was made to look old, and what was new. The house has a few minor things to repair/replace. The kitchen had everything but a tea kettle, which we happily donated.

We have a new range ordered (with a smaller oven on top of a larger oven and the stovetop feature with a "griddle in the middle") but the snowstorms prevented its arrival before your stay and we do apologize for that. And thanks for the comment about the art. My husband is responsible for making almost all of it, so I will let him know he did a good job. And we appreciate the kettle! Something I hadn't thought of. Hope you are all back to 100% and thanks for staying with us!

All-Around Amazing!!!

Being an interior designer, I'm easily and often disappointed in vacation rental surroundings. Not this time! Casa Contenta is expertly appointed from it's amazing and interesting decor to it's high end bedding and cookware. Every detail is well thought, and we thoroughly enjoyed are bright and beautiful home away from home. The location couldn't be a better compromise between convenience of town and easy access to Taos Ski Valley. The owners are such lovely helpful people that we wish we'd had more time to visit with them. All of Taos seemed more affordable than Colorado ski destinations, and Casa Contenta seemed like an excellent value. The rooms were the perfect set up for two couples with children. If I had to go out on a limb to make one tiny suggestion, it would be to add a heavier window covering on the french door in the downstairs bathroom. Honestly, other than that, the house is perfect! I can't wait to go back and stay again!!

Extraordinary!!! Perfect home away from home...

My husband and I took our five teenagers skiing for spring break. Casa Contenta was truly a PERFECT home for our week-long stay. From the moment we walked in, we were extremely impressed. The entire home was clean, well-prepared, bright and beautiful. The location of this home is prime!!! It's so close to town and an easy drive up the mountain to ski. It is centrally located to so many hot spots! The property itself was well-maintained and sits high on a bluff giving great views morning & evening! The layout of the home was great for our group! Plenty of beds and space for teenagers - and a nice, quiet space for the parents. Each room is so unique and has such personality. The bathrooms were clean and everything in great working order. Upstairs hosts a large family room, nice kitchen with all you will need and plenty of table space. The photos that are posted truly do not do this home justice!!! The artwork and décor was very lovely and quite intriguing. Stan and Terry are professional, but down-to-earth - very gracious owners who truly take "providing a great vacation home" to heart. They have thought of every detail and provided all you could need with great class!!! Thanks for a memorable spring break!

This house IS Taos

This unique property provides a glimpse into the unique style of Northern New Mexico. We loved the interior of the house and its unusual layout. Everything about it was fun! The beds and furniture were comfortable and we had plenty of room. The only problem we had was finding the code to the front door which was kind of buried in the welcome packet we received. Thanks for a great weekend!

Light and Breezy in a Unique Setting

Casa Contenta was the perfect place for our family's trip to Taos! Beautifully and thoughtfully decorated in a truly whimsical fashion. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to make a great meal. My favorite part about it was a fully open-concept upstairs living area with windows in every direction that opened to allow fresh cross breezes of fresh mountain air. The views from the deck were breathtaking. The location was wonderful as well, close to the Gorge Bridge, the road to Taos Ski Valley, or to Taos itself. The only word of caution I would note is that one of the two main downstairs bedrooms does not have a door, but rather only a cloth divider to separate it from the hallway. It is a beautiful room and worked perfectly for our daughter, but is worth being aware of for those who want full privacy. In all though, this is a gem that we would gladly return to.

Wonderful Experience!

Stan and Terry's place is beautiful, spacious, clean and perfectly located: close enough to town and to Taos Ski Valley to be convenient, but far enough to be able to enjoy a little more quiet. The house is very comfortable and extremely well-appointed, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Terry has added a ton of extra touches (like relaxing bath salts and an amazing latte maker) that make a visit that much more special. Terry and Stan are absolutely awesome and went way out of their way to make us feel welcome. We've stayed in a lot of rentals over this trip, but Stan and Terry were the only hosts who made us feel like family. We can't wait to return!

Magical home

We can not say enough about this gem of a property! From the kind host to the amazing views and expansive courtyard we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The kids loved exploring all the art unique Knick knacks from around the world. We highly recommend this property if you are planning a trip to New Mexico!

A home on the mesa...

Casa Contenta exceeded our expectations. It is a beautiful and very comfortable home, but still quirky and unique. The three bedrooms (on the ground floor) are quite comfortable and distinct from one another. Two of the bedrooms have access to the gorgeous patio and grounds. One also has an ensuite bathroom. There is an additional common room that can easily sleep two (on cushioned, wide benches). The upper level is nicely laid out with comfortable and stylish furniture, gorgeous views all around, and a great deck. The kitchen was very well appointed. We especially enjoyed watching the sunset from the living room deck and welcoming the sunrise on the patio. Great place for a family trip!
