Tips for the surrounding area:
A hike around the lake with a detour to the legendary Toplitzsee and possibly on to the Kammersee—the source of the Grundlseeer Traun—is a highlight. The trail down along the Grundlseeer Traun leads to Bad Aussee, the center of Austria.
Venture up to the Tressenstein observation tower and enjoy the wonderful view of Lake Grundlsee, Lake Altaussee, the surrounding mountains and villages, all the way to the Dachstein Glacier.
