Cozy and comfortable

The place is super cute and has almost everything you need for a nice getaway. The fire pit was beautiful. The hosts were very responsive when Google Maps took us to the wrong place. Make sure to get accurate instructions! Thanks for a nice stay

This was an excellent day. This property was so well done. I will say double check the check-in instructions that they email you because I went to the wrong entrance.

Cozy and Clean!

We had a good stay at Among the Laurels. The property was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed. However, there were a few things that could have made our experience much better. Our biggest complaint was the sleeping arrangements. Unfortunately, we experienced some of the worst sleep we’ve ever had! The downstairs bed was extremely uncomfortable, squeaky, and small. It also seemed to dip toward the middle, leaving us feeling like we were rolling into each other all night. After a rough first night, we switched beds with our child and moved up to the loft. Unfortunately, that wasn’t much better. With the windows positioned right at bed level, headlights from passing cars and other outdoor lighting made it difficult to sleep. The loft was also quite warm, as heat collected upstairs and the cooler air didn’t seem to reach that space. Thankfully, the fan provided some relief! We were also surprised that there didn’t appear to be any nearby water access, at least none that we could find. Given that kayaking was an option, we were a little confused about where we would actually launch a kayak and how we would transport it there, even if we had brought our truck. Lastly, the property sits next to a fairly busy road, so the traffic noise was a bit disappointing and took away from the peaceful atmosphere we had hoped for. Overall, Among the Laurels is a charming, well-equipped place to stay, but the uncomfortable sleeping arrangements, road noise, and lack of convenient water access made the experience less enjoyable than we had anticipated.

Great place in a secluded location

Really enjoyed this small cabin, we didn’t spend much time there in the day as we were in the area for the waterfalls. My only downfall was the bed in the downstairs bedroom. It’s listed as a queen but is definitely a full/double and it’s extremely noisy with its creaking. Also there was no bowls or small plates in the kitchen so felt it was lacking that but was glad to have a bunch of seasonings! The outside is also very cosy and perfect for the evenings to sit around the fireplace with the lights!

Be aware this property has an extremely busy road running right behind it. Its not mentioned in the listing nor shown in any photos. Cars, semis, trucks...all hours. Otherwise the property is adorable. Clean and cozy. If you're not looking for a cabin in the woods feel and dont mind the sound of traffic all hours this should work for you. Unfortunately, we booked this unit for our 10th anniversary and 1st trip alone in YEARS. When we reached out to the rental company we kept being told I needed to wait for a manager. After a couple days we gave up and left. Never hearing from a manager. After reaching out to vrbo for help due to lack of communication from the rental company, I was given a partial refund for the days we weren't there for due to leaving early. Again, adorable unit. But its noisy.
