Then come visit our beautiful little ranch at the campground on Schönsee Lake in Urnshausen, Rhön.

The covered wagon with a teepee is just 30 meters from the swimming lake and is located near a pond at the edge of the forest. The swimming lake, fed by a spring, has the highest water quality according to the European Bathing Water Quality Directive, with a rating of 3 out of 3 possible stars. The canvas wagon accommodates 2 people and features a small kitchen with a sink, gas stove, coffee maker, and all necessary amenities, as well as a refrigerator. The teepee can also sleep 2 people or children on comfortable air mattresses. A restroom is located nearby. The showers are 150 m away. The campground where the covered wagon is located features a snack bar and a very nice children’s playground. Parking is available right next to the property. Bedding can be rented for 6 euros per set. You must be 18 years old to make a reservation. We also offer stand-up paddleboard and barrel sauna rentals.

Your Schönsee Team

When traveling here, follow the signs in Urnshausen toward Schönsee. Once you arrive there, Bungalows 11 and 12 are signposted on the right right at the beginning of the grounds. Pass through a red gate, and a dirt road will lead you directly to the Little Ranch.

Urnshausen is located near the spa town and county seat of Bad Salzungen and Dermbach. Excursions to the Thuringian Forest or the Rhön are highly recommended. Nearby attractions include:

the Thuringian Forest, the Rhön with its many hiking trails, Eisenach—Wartburg Castle, the Merkers Adventure Mine, and the Bad Salzungen Salt World/Gradierwerk.
Pleß Mountain, the Hochrhöner Hiking Trail, and the Kutte (sinkhole lake) are hiking destinations in the immediate vicinity. The nearest restaurants are 3 km away in Bernshausen.
