We are a sociable retired couple and would be delighted to welcome you to our vacation rental.
Lake Störmthal was created from the former Espenhain open-pit mine. Thanks to a canal connecting the lakes and shared bike and hiking trails, it forms a single tourist destination with the neighboring Lake Markkleeberg. Even from a distance, the Mining Technology Park is a prominent attraction. As a place that brings history to life and commemorates the technological processes of an open-pit mine, the park captivates its visitors. The art installation “VINETA”—a floating artistic interpretation of the former church of Magdeborn—serves as a memorial to the lost towns of the lignite mining region and, since being anchored in the middle of the lake, has been used as a venue for weddings and events. It can be visited using Germany’s unique amphibious vehicle or the ferry.
