Casa Rossi is located right on the charming church square, across from the 16th-century Baroque church and the even older bell tower, which chimes from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The approximately 100-year-old Casa Rossi has been renovated with great attention to detail and divided into two separate vacation apartments. Many details have been preserved in their original condition. The furnishings are largely authentic Italian.
The apartments at Casa Rossi:
The Appartamento Grande, the larger part of Casa Rossi (approx. 85 square meters), is suitable for 4 (–6) people.
The Appartamento Piccolo, the small, romantic section of Casa Rossi (approx. 55 sqm), is suitable for 2 (–3) people.
Each apartment has its own terrace with seating. These are located in the courtyard/garden of Casa Rossi. All rooms, balconies, and the garden at Casa Rossi face south, offering plenty of sun and a view of the church square with its special atmosphere.

Viggiona—the town:
Viggiona (approx. 650 m) belongs, along with the two mountain villages of Trarego (770 m) and Cheglio, to the municipality of Trarego-Viggiona. It is situated on a wide, sweeping plateau sheltered from the wind, approximately 5 km above Cannero Riviera, at the foot of Monte Carza (1,116 m). Trarego-Viggiona is a small, idyllic municipality with just under 400 residents. Viggiona has been a popular vacation destination for Milanese since the late 19th century. Many houses and renovated “rustici” in Viggiona are used as summer homes and are owned by Central Europeans. Since there is hardly any fog in Viggiona, you can enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of Lake Maggiore just a few steps from Casa Rossi. The view is particularly stunning from the Madonnina above the village.
Climate and Surroundings:
In summer, the elevation difference from the lakeshore keeps the air wonderfully cool, and there is always a pleasant, gentle breeze. In winter, the low humidity ensures clean, dry air and stronger sunlight.
Directions and Parking:
Viggiona can be reached via a road from Cannero Riviera that is narrow in places but well-maintained. Even the drive from the “Mediterranean” world of the lakeshore—with its elegant villas and parks—up into the mountains, with their simple, rural houses and vast mixed deciduous and chestnut forests, is an experience in itself. Time and again, you’ll be treated to fabulously beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and Lake Maggiore. The many views of Cannero Riviera are also stunning.
Once you arrive in Viggiona, you can unload your car right in front of Casa Rossi and park just a few steps away in the parking lot next to the church and playground. A peaceful and relaxing vacation in tranquility and seclusion, far away from the hustle and bustle, can now begin.
Village life:
There are two good restaurants in Viggiona. Both are within easy walking distance of Casa Rossi. Would you like to experience authentic Italian charm among the locals, are you in the mood for pizza or pasta, and enjoy chatting with other vacationers, or would you prefer a more refined dining experience with delicious regional meat dishes? The choice is yours, and you’re most welcome! At “Grappa Viggiona,” you can sample the famous Grappa Viggiona.
For children, Viggiona offers a large, well-maintained playground right next to the church, diagonally across from Casa Rossi.
The neighboring village of Chelio also has a small grocery store where you can buy bread rolls, milk, eggs, butter, sausage, cheese, and much more. Chelio is also home to the cozy Bar Elios, which offers a wonderful view of Lake Maggiore.
