Bernstein Vacation Rental, 60 square meters, living room, 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, TV, Wi-Fi, washer, dishwasher, patio with patio furniture, colorful clay plaster, parking 20 meters from the house, quiet lot near the forest, mature trees, 1.5 km to the north beach (5 minutes by bike), 6 km to the west beach in the national park (30 minutes by bike)

Most of my guests had a wonderful time. In rare cases, there were disappointments. Whether the Bernstein vacation rental is the right vacation home for you also depends on your personal needs and expectations.

To get this out of the way right away—yes, there are spiders here, too. Perhaps a few more than elsewhere, which has to do with the beautiful 300-year-old oak tree right next to the house.

Originally planted as a lightning rod, the oak has grown over the course of two centuries into an impressive tree with character. To some guests, it resembles the Enchanted Forest in “The Lord of the Rings.”
It owes its fairy-tale appearance to a growth at a height of 2–3 meters, which, according to several foresters, does not harm the tree. In some years, wood pigeons nest in the upper parts of the crown.
With its rough bark, the oak provides a welcome habitat for a variety of beetles, insects, and even spiders. The few meters to the house are no obstacle for them. As best I can, I remove the spiders and cobwebs found in the apartments during every final cleaning. However, removing them completely and permanently is an impossible task. I’ve already tried using an ultrasonic repeller, which is supposedly highly effective against spiders native to Europe. It didn’t work.

The property is not fenced in and is naturally bordered by the forest and old dunes, easily recognizable by the dune pines with their distinctive growth patterns. The main road and the access road to Schmiedeberge 18 are well-worn sandy paths—dusty when dry and muddy when it rains.

Bicycle rental 400 m, bakery 800 m, Edeka 1 km, nearest beach 1.7 km. The western shore, which is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, can be reached in 20–30 minutes by bike (6 km). The route there leads through one of Europe’s last primeval forests. As you ride to the beach, the rapid alternation between forest air and sea air allows you to fully enjoy the benefits of this invigorating climate, which is known for its revitalizing and healing effects.
