Centrally located between Ulm, Memmingen, Kempten, the Allgäu region, and Legoland in Günzburg lies the charming Bavarian—or should we say “Swabian”—Fugger town of Weißenhorn. It is the oldest town in the Neu-Ulm district, first mentioned in 1160, and offers all the amenities of a small town with approximately 14,000 residents. This includes train service to Ulm and the Allgäu region.
During the day and in the evening, restaurants, cafés, and pubs invite you to linger.

Recreational activities
Numerous hiking trails start practically right at your doorstep. For example, in the nearby forest—with its hidden Schwallweier pond and many beautiful trails—you can enjoy nature in every season and let your mind wander.

In the summer, numerous lakes in the area, as well as the local outdoor pool, invite you to go swimming.
Afterward, an Aperol Spritz and a sundae at the market square make for a perfect summer day.

The area is best explored by bike. Numerous bike tours wind past fields and forests, through small hamlets and villages in the area with their cozy inns. Take, for example, the village of Roggenburg. Roggenburg and its monastery are visible from afar and are also wonderfully accessible on foot. Passing by the Roggenburg Pond and stopping for a break on the shore at the old mill—wonderful!

There’s plenty to discover. Ulm, located on the Württemberg side of the Danube, is one such destination. The historic alleys lined with old buildings, along with their restaurants and shops, are always worth a visit.
Museums, theaters, and major festivals—such as the Schwörwochenende in July, the Donaufest, the wine festival, or the Christmas market—attract crowds of international visitors every year.
The nearby town also boasts a beautiful old town. Every summer, free open-air concerts take place on the market square. However, Günzburg is best known to most people for Legoland.

Heading south, it takes about 15 minutes by car to reach the Unterallgäu region, which begins right behind the nearest town, Illertissen. Memmingen Airport is a 25-minute drive away.
It takes 40 minutes to reach Kempten and 60 minutes to reach Füssen and the Austrian border.
