Summary:

Start the day with coffee on your second-floor lanai, looking out toward the Pacific, then let the Kona day unfold at its own pace. This one-bedroom, one-bath Casa de Emdeko condo sleeps two and gives you air conditioning, a full kitchen, and an in-home washer and dryer for an easy stay. Swim in either of the two on-site pools, including one by the ocean, grill dinner on the seaside grounds, and come back upstairs for the color of sunset. You are two miles south of Kailua-Kona town, with Honl's Beach about a mile away and Magic Sands Beach Park about two miles away. It is a simple, comfortable place for a couple who wants ocean time, good food, and the relaxed rhythm of the Kona Coast. Bring a book for the lanai.



The Space:

The second-floor layout keeps the ocean view in sight from the private lanai, where the day begins with salt air and ends with sunset color. Inside, this one-bedroom, one-bath condo is set up for two with air conditioning, a full kitchen, and a private washer and dryer. It is an unfussy, comfortable landing spot between pool time and dinner in town.



Guest Access:

Guests at Casa de Emdeko enjoy access to two outdoor pools and an elevator within the oceanfront complex on Ali'i Drive in Kailua-Kona. The condo has a private entrance and a lit path at night. Shared grounds include a pavilion, a terrace with gas grills, and a sandy sitting area above the rocky shore.



The Neighborhood:

Ali'i Drive is Kailua-Kona's waterfront route, where the Pacific stays beside you as you move between beach stops, restaurants, and town. From Casa de Emdeko, Honl's Beach is about a mile away and Magic Sands Beach Park about two miles away. Kona town is also close for coffee, casual dinners, and browsing along the waterfront. For a snorkeling day, Kahalu'u Beach Park is farther south along Ali'i Drive. This stretch of the Big Island suits travelers who want sunset views, easy beach options, and a laid-back place to come home to.



Getting Around:

Kona International Airport is roughly 20 minutes away by car. A rental car is recommended for exploring the Kona Coast. Casa de Emdeko is about two miles south of Kailua-Kona town, while Honl's Beach is about one mile away and Magic Sands Beach Park is about two miles away.

Community was the best part. Mingling and chatting with others on the property and sharing the grills for dinner made for a real home away from home.

The condo had everything we needed. We used a provided cooler daily, beach chairs and umbrella several times. It's a wonderful location, close to everything on the Kailua Kona coast. The covered pool area pavilion is always cool and breezy. A few things could use an update, but it was clean and comfortable.

Quite and beautiful beach stay

Very pretty and quiet!! Great views from our lanai!! Perfect spot to have our morning coffee and watch the waves roll in! Exactly what we were looking for!!! Highly recommend!! We will definitely stay here again!

Clean and comfortable

Very clean! The coffee in the mornings was really nice before heading out to start the day. Loved swimming in the salt water pool while hearing the waves crash.

Cozy, homey condo with great views

A great place for couples with plenty of creature comforts. The in-unit washer/dryer was a huge benefit for us, as we we arrived here nine days into a two-week trip. The complex's amenities--particularly the salt water pool--helped us unwind after long days of exploring the Big Island. Great views of the ocean and sunset from the balcony as well. And a shout out to the thoughtful and charming decor, which was definitely a cut above your typical vacation rental.

Dryer doesn’t dry well. A/c inadequate. Water sometimes near toilet. Think coming from locked closet. Place was adequate, but not nearly as modern as appeared in pictures. Felt misleading. Suited its purposes. Upstairs neighbors noisy, sounds like moving furniture at 10:30 at night, multiple nights.

Regarding the dryer, it has been checked and is operating properly. We have not received any other concerns about its performance, and housekeeping has confirmed that it is drying as expected. The water near the toilet was due to a leak coming from the upstairs unit during that time. That issue was identified, handled, and fully repaired. We apologize for the inconvenience this caused during your stay. The upstairs condo is also a vacation rental. While we do not have direct control over guests in other units, we understand how noise can be disruptive, and we are sorry if that impacted your experience. Four Day Trip

It was a beautiful property with an amazing view of the nightly sunsets. The first night we arrived, there was blood on the sheets. We were not able to sleep for many hours as the direction we got was to wash the sheets. After washing, most did come off but there was still some on the sheets. Unfortunately, they did not have an extra pair of sheets in the condo.

Perfect rental experience

Check in was easy and we really appreciated the ability to set our own door code. It made us feel more secure and gave us a code that was easy to remember. The unit was clean and perfectly positioned - close to the stairs and also close to the ocean. The communal grills are easy to use. Bonus: The residents of this condo complex gather nightly at the ocean to watch the sunset while three residents blow a conch shell. It’s a lovely ritual that we enjoyed every single night. The provided beach chairs and umbrella were great and the ice chest was an unexpected bonus that we used every single day. The gift basket of local coffee, chips, candy, and water was thoughtful and appreciated. The binder gave us all the information we needed for the week. The washer and dryer meant we went home with clean clothes instead of a bunch of dirty laundry. We will definitely stay here again.

Great view, quiet, good King bed, pleasant decor. Great grounds well kept. Sunset conch blow tradition a real treat at sunset. Thermostat would not hold temperature setting. Had to constantly reset it. No thermostat instructions included in rental manual? Had to scour internet to try and set it with marginal success. No kitchen basics like seasonings, condiments, sugar, oil and etc. Ocean wave crashing noise may affect some. Several steps to climb or descend (even from elevator) to get to this 2nd story unit. Parking is tight inside security gate. You can park outside of it but residents recommend do not leave valuables in car outside security gate. Clothes dryer beeps and stops constantly telling us to clean lint trap. Had to baby it to get clothes dry. We believe exhaust ducting needs to be cleaned out. We could not access it to fix it for ourselves and future renters.

Our local team has addressed your concerns: sign instructions for the thermostat are being added, the internet is functioning, and basic seasonings are not provided. The ocean noise is unavoidable due to the location, and while elevators are available, some stairs are required to access the home. It's also recommended not to leave valuables in your car. The dryer is being checked as well. Your input is greatly appreciated, and we hope to provide an even better experience in the future!

Great view, otherwise sufficient.

If you’re booking this condo, it’s for the view from the lanai (balcony). Being so close to the ocean meant we could hear and see the waves while enjoying our morning coffee — truly a highlight. The pool and lounge chairs right by the water were also fantastic. The shower was good and we never had an issue with temperature or water pressure. The beach chairs and umbrella were a nice bonus, too. On the downside, the air conditioning never cooled the space below 73°F, which made sleeping a bit uncomfortable. The kitchen was equipped with basic tools, but you’ll want to bring your own seasonings and oils. It worked fine for simple meals, though using the oven heated up the entire condo so much that we ended up turning it off halfway through cooking and have a cold meal instead. The mattress was quite firm and didn’t stay in place well; if you sit on the edge, the whole thing tends to tip up. The couch in the living room was also on the small side for two people — fine for short sits, but not the best for relaxing on a rainy day. Lastly, I received several texts warning about bugs, which made me uneasy about the possibility of cockroaches and other pests in the unit. It definitely took us out of vacation mode. Overall, for the price we expected some less than ideal conditions. If you book this spot, come for the view and the soothing ocean atmosphere, but be prepared for a few inconveniences along the way.

However, we are very sorry for the concerns encountered regarding the A/C, beds, couch, and cooking seasonings. Our property manager confirms the A/C works fine, and specific instructions on how to use it will be placed in the home. Your feedback on the furniture comfort will be shared with the homeowner. Pantry items like oils and spices are not usually stored in the home for sanitary purposes. We encourage our guests to bring any food-related items they may need during their visit. Regarding your feedback on the text warnings about bugs, the messages were only meant to inform guests that, since we are on a tropical island and bugs are expected, especially during the Summer Season. We are glad no bugs were found in the home during your stay. Your feedback is valuable and helps us understand the guest experience better. We hope to have a chance to host you again!

Oceanside + clean + ideal location

The property is only minutes from all the amenities and most importantly, is located right on the ocean which you can also enjoy from the balcony or while you’re in the salt water pool located right at the oceans edge. The property is peaceful and quiet at night and the other residents are very warm and friendly. There are 2 improvements that could easily be made - the door numbers are located at the top of the door and are difficult to see through the screen doors - and impossible to see at night if you arrive late like I did. There are number located on the wall opposite to the doors on the half-wall but this is counter intuitive and is missed. So this makes it difficult to find your room upon arrival. It would be ideal to have the name of the building or address conveniently located at the front gate so you know when you’re in the right location. My Uber driver wasn’t even sure if he was dropping me off at rhe correct address. It’s also helpful if I could have been emailed a map of the condo complex or if there would be available upon entering the complex so I would know what stairs to take and where to go to find my condo. When it’s dark, no one is around and you’ve been travelling for 14 hours - these little things help a lot.
