The Baltic Sea resorts of Breege and Juliusruh are two picturesque villages located on the Baltic Sea coast of the island of Rügen. With their idyllic beaches, historic sights, and diverse recreational opportunities, they offer visitors a unique atmosphere.
The history of this region stretches far back in time. Breege, once a major port town, served as a key hub for trade with Scandinavia during the Middle Ages. The old harbor quays tell of times gone by and invite you to take a stroll along the coast. Juliusruh, on the other hand, was once a fishing village and has developed into a popular vacation destination that has retained its original charm.
An absolute highlight is Cape Arkona with its impressive cliffs. Here, the lighthouse stands tall, rewarding visitors with a breathtaking view of the Baltic Sea. The nearby Slavic hillfort village of Vineta offers a glimpse into the region’s early history and is an interesting destination for history buffs.
Nature lovers can discover the unspoiled beauty of the nearby Jasmund National Park. Here, majestic chalk cliffs stretch along the coast, offering spectacular views of the Baltic Sea. Hiking and biking trails through beech and pine forests invite you to take relaxing walks or exciting bike rides.
The fine, kilometer-long sandy beach at Juliusruh is perfect for a relaxing day at the beach. Here, visitors can enjoy the sun, swim in the clear water, and stroll along the promenade. Water sports such as sailing and surfing are also popular.
Using the ferry service at the nearby Breeger Harbor, you can, for example, take a day trip to the Störtebeker Festival in Ralswiek or to the island of Hiddensee.
Breege and Juliusruh offer a rich history and enchanting surroundings that delight visitors of all ages. Whether it’s cultural exploration, nature adventures, or simply relaxing on the beach—everyone will find their own perfect outing here.
