We had a wonderful stay in Altstädten. The location was great; peaceful, with beautiful views of the mountains of the Allgäu, while still being close to Sonthofen and all the activities in the area. We especially loved having a little bakery right around the corner where we could walk to pick up breakfast (closed Sundays and Mondays). The unit was very clean and larger than we expected. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped with a full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, cookware, plates, glasses, and other supplies. Having a washing machine was a big plus, and we appreciated having the toilet separate from the shower/bathroom. The wrap-around balcony was a delight to take in the views. We only wish we'd had more time to relax and enjoy the views, but we had a busy schedule for our family reunion!Check-in was a little confusing, as I don't recall receiving instructions ahead of time. However, when I called, the host was immediately responsive and met us on site to provide the keys, walk us through the unit, and orient us to the area. One thing to be aware of is the local tourist tax (Kurtaxe), which was collected separately in cash. I don't recall seeing this mentioned in the VRBO listing, so it's helpful to know ahead of time.Overall, a spacious, comfortable, and peaceful home base for exploring the Allgäu.
