Welcome to Germany’s easternmost city: Görlitz. Discover the historic old town for yourself, just as Hollywood stars Kate Winslet and Brad Pitt did a few years ago. Stroll through the wonderful streets and enjoy your vacation along the “silver ribbon” of Upper Lusatia: the Neisse River, which forms the border. Görlitz offers events both large and small almost year-round, such as the Brewery Festival or the Old Town Festival. As a regional hub, the city attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually with its rich array of cultural and recreational opportunities.
For example, you’ll find numerous museums such as the Natural History Museum; the Silesian Museum; and the Cultural History Museum, which consists of the Görlitz Collections housed in the Baroque House, the Kaisertrutz, and the Reichenbach Tower.
Görlitz’s Old Town offers a wide variety of culinary delights, just 6 km from the accommodation.
Lake Berzdorf isn’t just beautiful for swimming—it also features playgrounds for children, a beach bar, light meals, boat tours and surfing, and plenty of space for biking, inline skating, and hiking. (15 km from the accommodation)
If a slightly smaller lake is enough for you, you can drive 11 km in the opposite direction to Kaltwasser and enjoy the Inselsee in a wooded setting.
If you’d rather swim indoors, you can either visit the Neißebad in Görlitz or head to the slightly larger Trixi-Bad Großschönau (with an adjacent climbing forest).
If you’re looking for a unique experience in the heart of nature, head to the adventure park “Die geheime Welt von Turisede” (The Secret World of Turisede). Fun for the whole family in Zentendorf, just 13 min. (11 km) from the accommodation.
Within a radius of about 50–100 km, you can visit numerous historic towns such as Zittau, Bautzen, Kamenz, Radebeul, Meissen, and Freiberg.
For castle lovers, there’s plenty to see in Saxony. Examples include the Baroque Rammenau Castle, Pillnitz Castle, Moritzburg Castle, and Königstein Fortress.
For hiking trips, we recommend the nearby Königshain Mountains, the Zittau Mountains, the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, as well as the Jizera Mountains and the Giant Mountains on the Czech and Polish sides.
