The History of the Old Winemaker’s House on Calmont Our charming winemaker’s house, whose main building dates back to the mid-19th century and whose annex even dates back to the 16th century, bears witness to the rich history of this region. Although the exact origins of the house have been lost in the mists of time, this adds to its mystical charm.
The house was one of the first in the area to be equipped with central heating, underscoring its progressive nature in days gone by. Despite the house’s eventful history—including the difficulty in tracing its ownership—it has been lovingly passed down through our family for generations.
The spacious vaulted cellars beneath the house and most of the outbuildings long served as storage for wine barrels, reflecting the house’s deep roots in the region’s wine tradition.
A distinctive feature is the facade of the outbuilding, which was renovated in the 16th-century style and is a listed historic building. This highlights the property’s historical and architectural significance. Over the past five to ten decades, the building has been used as a winery, making the Calmont Winemaker’s House an integral part of the local winegrowing history.
