Peaceful Bungalow near Bamboo & Stream in Muong Hoa Valley with AC

Hello, my name is Pao, and I was born and raised in the Muong Hoa Valley, Sapa.

For more than 10 years, I have worked as an English-speaking local guide. Over the years, I have had the chance to walk through the mountains with travelers from many different countries, share stories, talk about our culture, and show people places that are not always found in a guidebook.

That experience taught me something important: sometimes, the most memorable part of a journey is not a famous viewpoint or a beautiful room, but the people you meet along the way and the stories you share with them.

That is one of the reasons I created LUMA Bungalows.

The name LUMA comes from the Black Hmong words “Lum maj”, meaning “come here”. To me, it is more than just a name. It is a warm invitation to friends: come here, slow down, explore our mountains and rice terraces, discover our local culture, and see a different side of Sapa.

When you stay with us, I hope you will feel comfortable enough to ask questions, share stories, and simply enjoy a conversation. If you are curious about the local way of life, the villages, the mountains, or the stories behind the landscapes around us, I will be happy to share what I know.

For me, being a host is not only about giving you a place to sleep. It is about welcoming you to a place that I call home.

I chose the Muong Hoa Valley because this is the place I know as home.

When you leave the busy center of Sapa and come down into the valley, the atmosphere begins to change. The roads become quieter, the mountains feel closer, and the landscape opens up with rice terraces, forests, small villages, and traditional homes.

I love the way life moves here. People still work closely with the land, and the seasons are part of everyday life. The rice terraces turn green, then golden when harvest comes. In the early morning, you may hear birds and the sounds of village life rather than traffic and city noise.

There are also many paths through the mountains and villages around the valley. Some are easy walks, while others take you deeper into the countryside. After many years of guiding travelers here, I still enjoy discovering the valley on foot.

For me, the best way to experience Muong Hoa is not to rush from one attraction to another. It is to slow down, walk through the landscape, meet local people, and take time to notice the simple things.

That is the feeling I wanted LUMA to share with our guests.

There are many places where you can stay in a beautiful bungalow and enjoy complete privacy. We wanted LUMA to offer something a little different.

Here, you have your own private bungalow a quiet space to rest, relax, and enjoy the valley at your own pace. But when you step outside, you can still connect with the people, culture, and everyday life around you.

LUMA is a small property with only four private bungalows. We want to keep it personal, warm, and connected to the local community rather than feeling like a large commercial resort.

You can simply relax and enjoy the view, or step outside and explore the valley with someone who knows it as home.

That is what LUMA means to us.
