The house is located far away from the hustle and bustle, at the end of a cul-de-sac in a small vacation community on the Schlei. A hornbeam hedge along the street and the natural boundary formed by tall shrubs and trees guarantee a high degree of privacy. Here, you’ll be awakened each morning by birdsong and lulled to sleep by the gentle lapping of the water. During the day, you can enjoy the view of the Schlei from both the terrace and the living room, watching the sailboats glide silently by and flocks of waterfowl. With a little luck, you’ll also see the pair of white-tailed eagles that nest nearby circling in the sky. In the evening, enjoy the fantastic sunsets and, later on, a breathtaking starry sky.
The Schleihaus Kieholm, which is also used as a private residence, is accordingly well-appointed and furnished with great attention to detail., If you like it quiet, “hygge,” bright, and unpretentious, you’ll feel right at home here. All rooms feature tiled floors, underfloor heating, and windows with insect screens. The high ceilings and oversized windows make the house feel spacious and flooded with light. The entire interior is decorated in light colors in a Nordic-maritime style. The open kitchen is equipped with every cooking and baking utensil, so home cooks can indulge their passion. A wood-burning stove, comfortable seating, a modern flat-screen TV (satellite), a small selection of books and games, and atmospheric lighting ensure a cozy evening. Thanks to the Bluetooth sound system, you can't only listen to the radio but also play your favorite music from your cell phone at any time. Fiber-optic Wi-Fi with unlimited access is included. In addition, after an eventful day, you can relax in the sauna or the hot tub. For sunny days (and the weather up north is much better than its reputation suggests!), two comfortable lounge chairs and a large umbrella are available on the completely secluded property. A lovely garden table with chairs and a sturdy outdoor grill are also provided. For the little guests, there’s plenty of space to play and run around.
Just a few steps away is a wonderful, large beach area leading down to the Schlei. The water is very shallow at the shore and ideal for splashing around. From there, you can also explore the calm waters of the Baltic Sea fjord by SUP or kayak and enjoy nature. For the more adventurous among you, there’s a wealth of possibilities here: birdwatching in the coastal nature reserves, bike tours through the picturesque countryside past imposing manor houses and picture-perfect villages, and excursions to charming little harbor towns such as Arnis, Kappeln, Eckernförde, and much more. Hamburg, Kiel, Lübeck, the Wadden Sea National Park, and the North Frisian Islands—even Aarhus and the South Danish Islands—can all be visited as part of a day trip. Plenty of art and culture await you in neighboring Schleswig, where you can visit, among other things, the “Haithabu” Viking Museum (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Gottorf Castle, and the nearly 1,000-year-old cathedral. Classical music lovers will be in for a treat during the annual Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and in September, Eckernförde hosts the “Green Screen Festival,” featuring the world’s best nature films. Gourmets will find numerous excellent restaurants in the surrounding area. You’ll find restaurant recommendations and plenty of tips for interesting activities in the house upon your arrival. So don’t hesitate any longer—trade the crowded vacation destinations in the south for the fresh air and tranquility of the north. Off to the north!
The Schleihaus Kieholm accommodates 4 people. Groups of men looking to party and smokers are not welcome in this house.
You can store your bicycles in the lockable shed. Two parking spaces are available on the property. The Schlei is a Baltic Sea fjord that stretches from Maasholm to Schleswig and is characterized by a very varied shoreline. Kieholm is the name of a small, nature-protected bird island on the Schlei. The Schleihaus Kieholm is located in the immediate vicinity of the Hülsen Marina, on the Schwansen Peninsula, which stretches between the southeastern shore of the Schlei and Eckernförde Bay.
The lovely, rolling landscape with its characteristic “Knicks” and fragrant lilac hedges is adorned with idyllic villages featuring thatched-roof houses and lush, blooming farm gardens, old manor farms, historic noble residences, and churches in the Brick Gothic style. Thanks to the well-developed network of bike paths, all these treasures can be easily explored by bike. Hiking enthusiasts will find many charming trails that often lead to hidden swimming spots. For water sports enthusiasts, this area is a true paradise.
In short, the Schlei region has something to offer everyone, but nature lovers, those seeking peace and quiet, and active vacationers will especially find what they’re looking for here.
House Rules/Pricing Info:
During the high season, there is a minimum stay of 7 nights.
The mandatory final cleaning service is automatically included in the total price for the requested stay via our price calculator.
All prices are subject to utility charges (electricity/heating: 0.60€/kWh, water: 6.50€/m³).
A security deposit of €200 must be paid with the final payment; this deposit will be refunded to the tenants by the landlords will be refunded to the tenants after departure, provided the property is returned in good condition and utility costs have been settled.
Optional linen set: €31.50 per person, bookable directly and exclusively through the property management company.
A fully equipped baby crib can be added for an additional charge of €12. A high chair is already provided; a second one can be added for an additional charge of €12.
