Surroundings:
Stahlbrode is a small, romantic fishing village on the southwest coast of the Vorpommern Bodden landscape between Stralsund and Greifswald, located directly on the Strelasund.
The Strelasund separates the island of Rügen from the mainland and is approximately 3 km wide at this point. The area around the Greifswald Bodden and the Strelasund is an outstanding water sports destination and renowned for its natural beauty. The surrounding lowlands, with their unspoiled nature, are ideal for hiking or biking. On a tour along the Bodden coast, you can watch the passing ships and enjoy the panoramic view of Rügen. A bike ride along the Strelasund toward Niederhof to the cormorant colony or toward Riems through old coastal forests is also highly recommended. Everywhere here you’ll find small bodies of water, low-lying cliffs, and impressive valleys, especially between Brandshagen and Niederhof. On a trip to Stahlbroder Harbor, the largest fishing port in the Nordvorpommern district, you can watch the fishermen at work, buy fresh fish, or sample delicacies from the smokehouse. A boat rental service is also available on site. There is also a direct ferry connection to the Baltic Sea island of Rügen, which attracts visitors with its numerous sights and beautiful sandy beaches.
