Welcome to the "beim Heinzelmännchen" vacation home!
Our lovingly renovated property offers you a cozy vacation apartment in our former single-family home—perfect for couples, families, or friends who want to enjoy peace and nature. You’ll have the entire upper floor to yourselves, complete with a fantastic view of the Goldberg. The lower floor is currently unoccupied, so you’ll have complete privacy. The house was modernized with great care and combines comfort with the charming character of the Eifel region. Here, you can relax, explore the surroundings, and feel right at home.
The vacation apartment features two separate bedrooms with a total of up to seven sleeping spots. The first bedroom has a double bed (180 x 200 cm) with the option to add an extra bed for children. The other bedroom has a double bed (140 x 200 cm) and a sofa bed with a sleeping surface of 140 x 200 cm. A small TV with satellite connection is also included here. The beds are already made—you don’t have to worry about a thing. The blinds in each room will hopefully ensure you get a restful night’s sleep.
The bathroom is located between the two bedrooms. Here, you can relax in a large bathtub and recharge your energy for your next hike. We also provide towels. If you’re planning to stay longer, there’s even a washing machine available for you!
The heart of this vacation rental is undoubtedly the living room. Here, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Goldberg and sip your morning coffee on the balcony as the sun rises. The huge dining table also offers plenty of space for home-cooked feasts or long game nights with the board games provided. Plus, the spacious sofa gives you plenty of room to watch a movie together in the evening—whether on broadcast TV or via streaming—after a day of activities. For the little ones among you, there’s also a selection of toys waiting in the old-fashioned suitcase. If you’ve traveled to the Eifel for a workation, the living room also offers a desk for working.
In the kitchen, you’ll find all the utensils you need for daily meal prep. From A for apple peeler to Z for lemon squeezer, everything is there. Appliances include a toaster, electric kettle, coffee maker, oven, stove, and dishwasher. By the way, the large refrigerator also has a freezer compartment, so you can stock up on frozen pizzas if you don’t feel like cooking yourself or ordering from one of the delivery services mentioned in the guest folder.
Outside on the covered patio, a cozy seating area awaits you. This way, you can relax and enjoy the fresh air whether the weather is nice or not so great. With a little luck, you might even spot deer and does, which regularly come to graze in the adjacent meadow or at the edge of the forest—a true nature experience. There’s also a gas grill on the terrace, so you can throw a little “barbecue” whenever you like. If it gets too windy, you can simply move a few steps over to the pavilion. We used to sit here often ourselves, winding down the evening and enjoying the tranquility of the Eifel while having nice conversations.
If you’re traveling with your dog, there’s also a small, fenced-off section of the meadow behind the pavilion available for you. Please let us know when booking if you’ll be bringing a dog. Due to the additional cleaning required, a cleaning fee of €30 per stay will be charged.
There are also two parking spaces available for you right on the private property. Birresborn has a train station about 1.3 km from the vacation rental, but a car is still advantageous in this region. Right in the next town, Gerolstein, you’ll find various shopping options such as supermarkets, pharmacies, drugstores, and good restaurants. In Birresborn itself, there’s a bakery with a café, and “Khaled’s Delicacies” offers something to satisfy even the heartiest appetite.
Birresborn is an excellent base for exploring the Eifel region. In the welcome folder we’ve provided in the vacation rental, you’ll find a selection of our personal recommendations for local and regional attractions—there’s something for every taste:
The ice caves in Birresborn are fascinating former quarries where millstones were mined. The caves are situated in the middle of an idyllic forest and can be visited between April and October, either on your own or with a guided tour.
What’s more, the vacation rental is located at the foot of a real volcano! The Kalem volcano is an impressive, ancient stratovolcano in the Vulkaneifel region and just a few minutes’ walk from your accommodation. On easily accessible trails, you’ll discover lava block fields, basalt cliffs, and beautiful stretches of forest. An ideal destination for short walks, leisurely hikes, and nature lovers.
What personally amazes me every single time: Thanks to the very low light pollution, Birresborn and its surroundings are a perfect spot for stargazers. The Eifel is recognized as an International Dark Sky Park by the International Dark Sky Association. On clear nights, you can see the Milky Way, shooting stars, and impressive views of the planets right from the property.
We look forward to your visit!
