Den ultimative afsondrede sommerhus

Sommerhus Tigh Beg Croft, selvhusholdning, skal være et af de ultimative afsondrede Highland-gemte - der er ingen havehegn, kun det åbne land og havet for at holde dig inde og underholde dig. Denne klassiske 'kom væk fra det hele' beliggenhed nær Oban i Argyll ligger i nogle halvtreds hektar uformel bakke og kystlinje, hvilket giver dig et spektakulært vandreland.

Croft og denne del af kystlinjen blev brugt i 1968-filmoptagelsen af 'Ring of Bright Water' og for nylig i slutscenerne af 'Enigma', baseret på Robert Harris-thrilleren.
Vi føler os meget privilegeret over at være i stand til at tilbyde Tigh Beg Croft som et sommerhus og en kort ferie destination, så vores gæster kan slappe af og slappe af. Croft er for nylig blevet renoveret og totalrenoveret for at give dig alle de hjemlige bekvemmeligheder, du ville forvente, hvilket gør en fantastisk feriemål når som helst på året.

Dette specielle sted er roligt beliggende ved havet indgangen til Loch Feochan, med en spektakulær udsigt ned 'Firth of Lorn', kun tre miles længere ned i glen fra Lagnakeil hytter og alligevel kun seks miles fra Oban med alle dens kvalitetsfaciliteter, butikker og restauranter.

Adgang er ad en privat banevej på omkring en halv mil med den endelige indflyvning over uovertruffen bane - perfekt til firehjulstræk, men ikke væsentlig! ingen biler med lav profil. Du kan også få adgang til Tigh Beg ad søen.

En country pub ligger længere op på glen og tilbyder fin hjemmelavet mad og øl med uformelle musikaftener i løbet af sæsonen.

perfect hidden gem

We have stayed at this property again this summer (also summer 2025). It's such a gem! Nice house, lovely decorated! We caught mackerel from the sea and put them on the barbie straight away. Next to the house is a waterfall, in which the kids built dams for hours. And from the doorstep multiple beautiful walks can be made. To only reason not to recommend this place is because we want to keep this hidden gem a secret so we can book again.

A little piece of heaven

This was our sixth stay at Tigh Beg Croft and somehow it still feels every bit as magical as the first. It is difficult to put into words just how special this place is. The setting is breathtakingly beautiful, wonderfully peaceful and so secluded that it feels as though you have your own little corner of the Highlands entirely to yourselves. The croft is cosy, comfortable and full of character, with everything you could need for a relaxing stay. Waking up to those incredible views, watching the wildlife and simply sitting outside listening to the water makes everyday life feel a very long way away. Sandie is a warm and thoughtful host and everything was beautifully prepared for our arrival. We loved every single minute of another heavenly week and were genuinely sad to leave. After six visits, Tigh Beg has a very special place in our hearts and we already cannot wait to return in 2028. An unforgettable place that we simply cannot recommend highly enough.

Short stay

We stayed last May and returned this year. Excellent location and utter peace and quiet. Remember to check with the company about the heating, it was quite cold when we were there and you need to contact them to turn up the heating as it is controlled remotely by the owners. Otherwise a delightfully peaceful week, lovely walks nearby and would recommend Eeusk restaurant on the harbour, lovely food and great staff.

Fantastic "get away" week

We loved this Croft for its remote location, cradled on the landscape by rocks with a stunning up close view of the sea. The Croft is equipped with modern amenities, and is both functional and tastefully decorated. Cell service is a bit weak until you stand outside where there is a strong signal.

Incredible location. Cottage is perfect! More spacious than expected. Great shower. Gorgeous views from all windows. Magical. Road down to cottage not bad at all and we visited during a very wet week and had no problems accessing in a VW golf.

Nothing quite like it…….

Tigh Beg is a complete one-off. The location and setting of the cottage is just perfect. Days spent on the patio, watching the sea, hearing the birds and basking in the tranquil setting just pass by effortlessly. Seals, otters, sea eagles, buzzards and sea birds frequently join you throughout the day, along with wonderful birdsong from all the trees and shrubs surrounding you. The property is well equipped for 4 people staying and is in generally very clean and tidy. Having the porch with dishwasher is a bonus as you are remote and need to bring plenty of supplies and cook a lot of the time. Nearby Oban is charming and offers all you will need for shopping and fresh food. Small gripe would be the lack of cover or shade on the patio which is full sun for most of the day. Thoroughly recommend!

November short break

A magic place!

We absolutely loved the place: The view from the bedroom, the excellent kitchen, the most comfortable bathroom, the fireplace! The surrounding is magic: the view from the beach onto the see, the sheep and highland cows in the own garden, the walks through the hills, the forrest, the boat on the mountain! Thank you Gemma and Sandy for the nice welcome. We will visit again!

Secluded luxury cottage

Upon arrival at the gates, a herd of deer greeted us. The cottage, the appointments, the location, the tranquility did not disappoint. As birdwatchers, we enjoyed morning walks with various birdsongs. We would definitely return.

Fantastic

The road to the cottage is an adventure in itself but when you arrive there it’s quickly forgotten. The cottage is in a perfect location but with Oban only about 20 minutes away by car. The views from the cottage are so enchanting that we spent most of our time just chilling out and watching the world go by. We were there for only 3 nights which wasn’t enough as we have fallen for the place and have booked for Christmas. We have stayed in many beautiful cottages on the west coast of Scotland and this is definitely one of the best. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful hideaway on the west coast

Lovely location to be away from it all, very peaceful but still close enough to Oban. Such an amazing surprise that the Otter Movie was filmed here! The heated drying rack was a great plus and helped us dry our rain soaked shoes and clothes. The kids loved to fish off the rocky cliffs. We will return - next time for maybe more than one week. We had too much luggage and taking it up the small path on our departure in the rain was no joke Definitely the highlight of our three weeks in Scotland.

Remote could be confused with 'out of the way'

Tigh Beg cottage is unquestionably delightful. Accessibility is definitely an issue. The track is pretty rough on most vehicles. Price is on the high side for size and amenities. Having a few more basic condiments in kitchen would be good. Operation of TV remote and DVD player confusing. It most certainly lends to relaxation and enjoying the beauty of nature

Tigh Beg is a gem

What a location! Truely magical.. The house is really cosy, the beds are comfortable, the shower is good and everything provided for in the kitchen. But that view!! Going down to the rocky beach, walking in the direct area... Only a 20 min. drive from Oban, but we made sure we took enough groceries for a week because we did not want to leave! We were worned about the road up there, but is not all that bad. We drive a Ford Fiesta and had no problem getting to the cottage. Had fun with putting our luggage in the wheelbarrow :) Owners are very friendly and respond very quickly to your emails. Leaving here put a tear to my eyes...

An "away from it all" gem of a cottage

A peaceful well kept secluded cottage which more than lived up to our high expectations. The cottage is clean,warm and well equipped and has a lovely deck which is in the sun most of the day. Due to unprecedented hot dry weather prior to our stay we had to use water sparingly but this did not detract from our enjoyment of the holiday, we were advised beforehand and given the option to rebook or cancel if we wished. The hosts supplied us with bottled water and kept us advised regarding the water situation and answered our queries quickly. The track down to the cottage is not a problem in an ordinary car if taken slowly. Although the cottage is quite remote it is within a short drive of Oban and we found plenty to see and do in the area. A wonderful cottage to get away from it all surrounded by beautiful scenery, walks and wildlife. .

Stunning location & lovely secluded cottage - perfect for nature lovers who like the quiet life

We had such a wonderful week at this hideaway. What a stunning location. We are avid nature-lovers and didn't leave the place for the whole week, just spent our time roaming the shores looking at the views, ever-changing weather & fabulous wildlife. This place is for quiet people who want to soak up the location and its wildlife. We saw otters, seals, golden eagles, white-tailed eagles, peregrine, buzzards & ravens nesting nearby, curlews & oyster catchers were a regular, goldcrests nesting in the garden & much more. We're taking away some very special wildlife memories, especially the otters! The cottage was better than expected, with good wifi (for emails, light browsing & wifi calls), good heating, comfy bed (although only a double), good hot water, great fridge freezer, dishwasher, good oven & hob & TV was fine. The track to the cottage wasn't a problem & we don't have a 4x4. It had everything we needed & more. As others have commented on, take enough food & extra loo roll so that you don't have to leave the place! We're just about to book for next year!

Magical

I had wonderful memories of staying here for three weeks as a 7 year old in the late 60's. A few years ago it dawned on me that it might still be possible to rent it. I am so very glad that I was able to go back and share the experience with my wife and one of my grown-up children. Even though it was raining when we arrived, it is such a beautiful setting that that the weather hardly mattered. I don't remember anything about how the interior was last time, but am told we children slept in the loft conversion that is now closed to guests (I'm assuming this was done fairly recently as some older reviews refer to sleeping more than the current 4). The croft has been done up to a good modern standard that is well-equipped, comfy and clean inside. I personally would have preferred something a bit more ramshackle to match the away from it all feeling, but that might just be me and this place really isn't about the interior at all. There is a nice area to sit outside when the weather allows and an open fire in the living area for when the weather is not so good. The track is still a little intimidating the first time (in the 1960's my grandma refused to stay with us after the first day due to the track!) but it is fine with a normal car so long as you take it slow. I'd allow 45 minutes to get to Oban, though better still to stock up and stay put. Thank you so much to the owners for allowing others to experience this place. Please continue to do so. I hope to come back again, but with a shorter gap than the 55 years it took this time.
