We had a very enjoyable stay in this gite. St Antonin really is a beautiful spot with good quality eateries and a very relaxed vibe. The gite is located within a 10 min walk of the town. It’s an old place which is a little dated, but has no less charm for it, even if some running repairs were required during our stay. The pool area is lovely, but there is a lack of shady areas, especially during what has been an unusually hot summer. If this year’s heat continues, the owner might need to consider installing some air con, as even with fans blowing, the nighttime heat was intense. The pool was a welcome relief, but I’m not sure I would recommend staying here with young children as the steps up to it are steep and the tiles round it extremely slippery. The decking has also warped and it’s fairly easy to stub a toe. Our teenage children who are a bit more robust however, had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, some accidental damage occurred in the pool during our stay. We are sure this a result the age of the plastic filter cover which must have just given way when stepped on. This resulted in some rather unfortunate messaging after our stay which has slightly tainted our memories. I do sympathise with the hassle this caused the owner, but there really is only so much you can say to apologise. Fortunately, this has now been repaired and we can focus on the fun we had. I would not hesitate to recommend the gite and the area to anybody who fancies a relaxed trip to rural France.
