There is something magical about the valley, Llano de las Cruz, we fell in love with it. We have a great team working with us both inside the house and keeping the garden and pool up to scratch, we could not do without them. We know how bewitching this area is- we will happily welcome you back any time!

I will write my response and let guests decide for themselves. The house is decorated every year and maintained to a very high standard but we have been full since February so it’s due to be decorated in June. The road to the house is a typical Spanish road in the countryside, it is cracked at times and is part tarmac, part concrete (not a dirt road) these guests preferred the Costa, and left early to stay down on the coast. Our house is rural and peaceful and not suited to those who prefer the Costa. The house has been lovingly restored using lots of natural materials which move and crack and do need constant attention. This house is not a soulless apartment but a house of character and homeliness which we have kitted out to our taste and not perhaps to this guest’s. The villa has been let all year from early February with no complaints. We visited the house straight after this guest left to see if any of her claims were true. They were wildly exaggerated or untrue. The house does not smell at all. We love our Spanish home and have 7 years of excellent reviews on here and other platforms. The previous guests sent us a photo to say thank you for such a good stay and loved the place. We last visited six months ago (where she got the idea we haven’t visited in a year I have no idea). Some folk live to pick fault in your efforts and some enjoy the joys life brings. We look forward to welcoming our next guests and won’t let one bad experience spoil our years of great hosting experience. The reason no one met these guests was because they were arriving midweek and this was fully explained to them but they did not seem to listen. They gave a number they weren’t using and were quite difficult to communicate with. Our Property Manager arrived the following day to check all was well. The guest had rearranged all kinds of things in the house which I have had to find and put back in the right place. We have had many lovely reviews and lots of returning guests I am not sure what happened with these guests when previous guests have been so happy, perhaps it wasn’t quite what they were looking for. If you value privacy, peace and quiet, character and a total escape away from it all then El Olivar will suit you down to the ground.

You are right, if you want to be cut off from it all the house does afford that luxury and seeing Ronda minus the tourists must be fab! It has been almost a year since we have been able to stay at the house and I was quite jealous of your time there.

We have had too many family holidays where the drive into the local town is too far and we have spent too much of our precious holiday time in the car. So we looked for a place that was close to Ronda but sat in its own little sanctuary of tranquility, where the only traffic is the occasional passing car or horse and cart, where the birds are plentiful and all there is nothing to interrupt your peace and quiet. So glad you appreciated the little haven we have found, we will gladly have you back anytime.
