The cottage was clean and fully equipped with everything needed and Kirtomy itself is in a lovely location which made it an ideal relaxing getaway with my dog who loved all the local beaches.

Great base for adventures

Lovely cottage with everything we needed. The bed was comfy and cosy. Great outside space, and beautiful area. Clean and also plenty of cleaning stuff. Well equipped kitchen too. We had a brilliant stay!

Kirtomy is a place very close to our hearts, so it was wonderful to stay in this perfect little cottage for our short trip up this year.The place was clean and tidy with a perfectly appointed kitchen that had all of the amenities you might need.We'll definitely be back.

Kirtomy Cottage

Gorgeous cottage, lovely original features and updates for comfort. The remote setting was so peaceful, beautiful views and gardens to enjoy when sun shines.

Croft Cottage Cozy

We went to this part of Scotland to celebrate some clan MacKay history and being able to stay in the cottage with its crofter beginnings but modern conveniences brought a little extra to the trip.

Great Location

Nice cottage great location comfortable bed very peaceful area good sunny spot at back to enjoy a drink on the evening. A couple of minor issues were quickly addressed.

I can only apologise for the problem around towels which we have now consulted with the cleaning company and rectified. Also the heating system is new and proving a challenge to work out how best to mange. Hopefully over time we will reduce problems with access to the app/manual override. Jayne

Lovely Stay at Kirtomy Cottage

We had a really enjoyable week at Kirtomy Cottage. It was really homely and lovely to go back to after a days walking. Contact with the host was superb. Our only problem was the neighbour never had any eggs, however there are plenty of egg points locally.

Relaxing

Very pleased with the property and our stay in north Scotland. The cottage is clean and cosy. Everything is there that you would require for your stay. It is remote so you will need to plan ahead for food deliveries etc. Just off the north coast 500 with lots of beaches and walks near by. Loved the log burner in the front room.

We booked the cottage for a weeks fly fishing(2 old men) spotless very comfortable, log burner for cold nights. Home from home and would defiantly stay again. 5 out of 5 for the cottage If you do not like this cottage there is something wrong with you.Thanks

Kirtomy Cottage is a little gem!

We had a wonderful week in this cosy comfortable cottage. The smell of the log burner on opening the door brought back many memories! The kitchen is well equipped and has amazing fridge/freezer space. Such a comfortable bed too. A great outdoor drying area for washing.On the cooler nights we chose to use the log burner rather than electric heaters and it certainly heats all the rooms when you open the doors through the cottage. We enjoyed eating breakfast outside and watching all the birds that visit including the cockerel and hens from next door on the odd day. Lovely views across the sea and surrounding hills. So beautiful and also peaceful.Lovely walk down to the cliff top with some fab views around the bay.This is in a remote location however it is only a short drive to Bettyhill where the Post Office and General Store have a variety of food/drink and basics if you’ve forgotten anything. Try Raffey’s home made curry, delicious!The Store Bistro and Bar is well worth a visit too, enjoyed a few dishes there.Jayne is a wonderful host and responds quickly to any communications.We will definitely stay again soon.

Das Cottage ist ein echter Traum, sehr gemütlich, hervorragend ausgestattet und wir haben die Zeit dort sehr genossen. Auch für unsere beiden Collies war es gleich ein Zuhause und ideal mit dem Grundstück hinten und vorne raus. Es ist in einem ruhigen Tal mit traumhaftem Ausblick auf die Hügellandschaft, die Klippen und das Meer gelegen, von wo aus man wunderschöne Spaziergänge machen kann. Wir sind sicherlich nicht das letzte Mal hier gewesen. Der Kontakt zur Landlady war sehr herzlich und es war alles absolut perfekt!

Ein liebevoll und komplett ausgestattetes Cottage mit allem was man für einen gelungenen Urlaub benötigt. Einrichtung und Ausstattung sind sehr sauber und technisch einwandfrei. Außenbereich sehr gepflegt mit viel Platz.Der Meerblick und die Ruhe an diesem Ort sind wunderbar.

Good afternoon, I am disappointed to receive your 3 star review of our lovely cottage. After years of renting this commercially we routinely receive 5 star reviews with guests having ahad a lovely time and enjoy the modern touches in our 150 year old home. I am further concerned that we did not receive any correspondence during your stay that there were any issues especially regarding cleaning which we spend a considerable amount of money on and would have arranged for the company to attend and rectify ensuring you experienced a good holiday. Regarding the 3 specific points made (dog hair in bedroom, dust under the bed and crockery/pans not cleaned properly) I would like to add the following minor points. Although there is no excuse for excessive dog hair in the property 95% of our guests book our house as accommodate pets. I will bring this to the attention of the ckeaner. As this is a self catering cottage it is expected that guests will clean crockery/pans correctly after use. The cleaning would not be expected to remove these from cupboards during their quick turnaround time. Regarding the dust under the bed, I will also ask for this to be checked routinely. Again I am surprised at this as I was at the cottage at the beginning of October and the house was cleaned by me, so surprised to hear any dust noticed within a few weeks. I can only apologise that the above 3 points resulted in poor holiday. Kind regards Jayne

Wonderful stay in cosy characterful cottage

I spent a wonderful week in Kirtomy Cottage with my three dogs. The cottage was perfect for us; warm, cosy, characterful, well equipped and in a beautiful quiet location. Plenty of excellent walks and stunning beaches within an easy drive east or west. Jayne is a great host with excellent comms. I highly recommend this cottage; thank you Jayne for sharing.

Practical Comfort in a Fantastic Area

A great destination. The property is clean and tidy and provides all the basic necessities. It is practical and comfortable as opposed luxurious. The location is extraordinarily quiet yet is near some beautiful locations. The host is a good communicator.
