Lake Trip

The house and property are beautiful. Very close to the lake , fishing in the pond was a lot of fun. John and Cathy are very attentive. We will book again!

Prefect No electronic weekend

The house does have a tv but we stayed here to do a no electronic weekend with the kids. It was so amazing! We had so much fun with the kids. No one ever got board since there was so much to do. We fished, played in the creek, paddle around in the paddle boat, explored and played games. There was a basketball hoop, and a football which the kids loved. There were other things like board games and hula hops that we all enjoyed also. The house is great for playing hide and seek with the kids. It was so relaxing for us to have the kids go play and sit on the back porch and listen to the water in the creek. We highly recommend this place for anyone that wants to get away and relax and have fun with the kids. The owners are the sweetest older couple and the house and property is so clean and neat.

Everything we had hoped for

When we arrived, we were greeted by John and Cathy. We got the tour and quickly settled in. The grounds are beautiful, complete with a babbling creak and fishing pond. House was clean and welcoming. Kitchen was very functional. We plan to come back.

Excellent place for family time

Host received us and gave a tour of the place. Enjoyed the stay, I liked the creek in the backyard which gives constant water flow noise which is soothing. The small boat in the private lake/pond is nice enough to go around. My son enjoyed biking around the lake.

Peaceful Tranquil Parklike Setting

The owners are great: attentive and good communicators. The home is so welcoming and comfortable. It had pretty much anything we needed. We enjoyed staying at the property as much as exploring Lake Don Pedro which is 15 mins away. With the creek in the back and the large pond in the front with a huge green yard in the front, we felt as if we were at our very own private park. There were plenty of places to just sit and relax (benches and picnic tables). Plus things to keep the kids engaged, playground, basketball hoop w/ball, and creek.

Beautiful getaway

My family and our best friends stayed at this fantastic house Labor Day weekend. While we are not a fishing family, we did yoga on the dock, watched stars at night, chatted by the creek and had some nice family time. The teenagers even stayed off their phones willingly, played basketball in the driveway and had fun being kids. It was exactly what we had hoped for - a weekend close enough to the Bay Area that we could leave after school but just far enough away that it felt like we were in a whole other world. Thank you, John and Cathy for being excellent hosts and making this property magical! 5 stars, will definitely be staying again!

Idyllic Setting

I cannot express the beauty of this idyllic setting and the amazing hosts, John and Kathy. From the cozy home, to the weeping willows, streams and fishing lake, large lawn, and playground, we didn’t want to leave. We got to pet the donkeys, feed the ducks and geese, watch the wild bunnies hop along the lawn, and watching the blue heron eat fish from the lake. We can’t wait to come back and enjoy all this home and the hosts have to offer.

So relaxing!

The location is EVERYTHING! Private, quiet, serene. Lots of room with the three bedrooms and a den with a pullout futon and closed doors. The living room has long couches to fit everyone. The back deck was our fave at night and in the morning, with the babbling brook right outside. There is lots of room to park cars and your boat, and its a short drive to the lake. Things you might want to bring-ziplock bags and food storage containers, and if you like to cook they just have salt and pepper fyi

Wonder location

We will be back , This was our second stay. The host are very kind and helpful and also let you enjoy your time there. The property is beautiful and peaceful. Close to several lakes and other attraction, of course you could stay right at this park like setting the whole time and have a great vacation.

Kids rated better than Hawaii

Our Christmas escape at the pond house was filled with fishing, donkey petting and playground play. The perfect haven for families- kids and adults alike. John and Cathy were responsive and welcoming every step of the way. Given the choice of pond house or Hawaii kids unanimously voted pond house! Adults would come back too!

Wow, what a charming house!

Let me start by saying this house is every bit of serene as it shows in the pictures and a whole lot more. It's a beautiful property that's extremely well kept. There's a pond with a paddle boat, a creek in the back where my 5 year old caught his 1st fish, a nice deck in the back to bbq and we even got to pet some donkeys on the property. The inside is equally as nice and also very clean. Everything works well inside, which made it feel just like home. John & Cathy are really a pleasure and they were even kind enough to trim some tree branches (without me even asking) so that I could pull my boat down the driveway. I'd give them 10 stars if I could .

too much fun!

My family keeps asking me how I found this place, and what a great job it was to make such a find. Everything went smoothly from the paperwork to communicating with John and Cathy. And then driving into the property... we were hooked! A beautiful park like setting, then meeting Cathy and John- so accommodating! We are still talking about how blessed we were to stay there. The home had everything we needed and the living space was more than enough for the 7 of us. This property is amazing, the pedal boat for the lagoon was a blast and the STARS were magnificent. Very close proximity to Lake Don Pedro, it was only 10 minutes away. We highly recommend this home away from home and hope you will enjoy your stay as much as we did!!!!

Pond House Getaway

Wonderful slice of heaven. John and Cathy are great hosts and are always available to answer any questions I had. I personally enjoyed the pond the most and the bass that I caught. My wife enjoyed the backyard running creek and the children loved being able to run around. The donkeys, wide open spaces, wonderful home, and playground were just a few of the touches that we really enjoyed. We’ll be back again

The owner watched us like a hawk!

The property is nice and big, but the interior needs maintenance and upgrade, i.e. the floor is dirty, the refrigerator on the freezer side leaks water, the bed sets are very old. There are tons of flies around the house. The toilet seats are old and dirty. The owners do their own cleaning instead of hiring a professional house cleaner. They are cheap in providing insufficient house cleaning supplies i.e. only one extra trash bag, one extra roll of toilet paper and paper towel, the pots and pans are unusable, old with many scratches and rusty. According to vrbo booking confirmation, the check in time is 1pm, but the owner told us @ 2pm and we were there on time, but the house is not ready yet so we had to wait for 20 minutes. The house has 3 bedrooms and a game room/loft which we think has enough spaces for 3 families of 4 people. However, the property listing is very tricky, the maximum occupancy is for 8 people, but the standard nightly rate is only for 6 people so any additional person up to 8 is an additional charge which is a very misleading. Initially, we booked the house for 2 families of 6 people but another family wanted to join at the last minute so we exceeded the maximum occupancy by 4 people and agreed for the additional people regardless of ages per verbal request from John (which we think is a bit excessive as we have kids and they don’t use much resources). However, he charged us more than the agreed amount and is almost the cost of renting another house. Upon checking the property listing info on vrbo after we received the bill, there wasn’t any disclosure regarding additional fees if exceeded the maximum occupancy so we disputed the charge with him. While waiting for a response from the owner, he revised his property listing to include the extra charge for additional people. This is deceitful business. We feel annoyed and dislike the fact that John keeps coming to the property everyday, sometimes twice a day to collect trash, water the grass and walk around the house. We felt as if he monitored us daily and didn’t have any privacy during our stay. We did not get to enjoy the house to ourselves. John also asked us to vacuum the house which we think is a ridiculous request since we paid for the cleaning fee.

Lovely relaxing home

We had a wonderful time here. The home and property were nice and well kept. The men enjoyed fishing and caught quite a few nice fish but it was too full of weeds and algae for swimming. We instead took a short drive to Don Pedro Reservoir for that. A fantastic relaxing trip! The one thing that I would change is the steep charge per person per day for any family over six people.

A Wonderful Getaway

This is a gorgeous and beautifully maintained property. The front of the house and the pond are separated by an enormous ,lush lawn. The pond in the front and the creek in the back were stocked with plenty of fish to keep my 3 avid fishermen very happy. John and Cathy were friendly and accommodating hosts who made us feel very welcome . The house is lovely ,clean and very inviting. There is plenty of room to spread out and relax. My family and I agree that we will definitely be back soon!

Amazing Place!

This is a beautiful property with a large spacious house, huge yard and a pond with fishing, paddle boats and a dock to relax on. We had a family Christmas get together here and had an absolutely wonderful time, just a note, do not try to book this property over Christmas next year, because we will be booking it again, probably for a few years into the future as well.

Cathy and I grew up in Turlock and later moved to Hilmar Ca . We are now retired live in La Grange and work full time maintaining the vacation rental property.

Cathy and I purchased the property at the west end of the lake in 2009. Upon arriving and seeing the property for the first time we knew that this was the spot we had been looking for. The realtor had given us the gate code and told us to drive up and take a look. As we drove thru the gate there were deer standing in the yard. I noticed the pond was spring fed and the river was right next door. The home was impressive and in great shape. The next day we contacted the real estate agent and we were able to enter the home. Impressive, everything we were looking for. Two years latter we were able to purchase the vacation rental at the other end of the lake. This home is located in a park like setting with over an acre of lawn area, private dock, river access and picnic area. You will love it

If you are looking for a private get away this is the place. The property sits behind a private gated entry along the Tuolumne river with a large 3 acre lake. The home is spacious and well maintained. It is a beautiful property with a year around creek running through the back yard. The front yard has a large lawn area providing a park like setting and pathway leading to pond. This is a great place to relax after a day at one of the five close by reservoirs or day trips to the gold country or Yosemite National Park.
