This place was amazing for our family get away. We all traveled from near and far to spend time together. Goal was to just hang out!We did just that, on and off the lake. Tons of games, paints and puzzles to do was much neededThank you again-ps hope everyone enjoys the rocks we painted

Quiet peaceful stay in a wonderful family camp. Communication was excellent and our hosts made it clear they were happy to assist us with anything. The lake was beautiful and swimming and boating was relaxing. We wanted to escape the noise and fireworks on the 4th of July and this was perfect. We will definetly be back.

Great stay

It's always such a pleasure staying with you! The lake is great, the cabin is the best, and there's always fun events at the clubhouse.

Charming cottage in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood (even during the Fourth of July holiday). Hosts were very responsive to queries. Very nice pond for swimming and kayaking. No internet or TV, which was great for us, but the clubhouse is a short walk away if you're need that WiFi. Lots of bird activity in the neighborhood, if birding is your thing (it's a very short drive to an Audubon sanctuary as well).

Restful, lovely place

This is our fourth time staying in this magical house. Very rustic, out of the way. The house is 30 steps from large, tranquil lake with herons. I swam an hour + every day. Outdoor shower supplements the indoor one for a sensual treat. Highly pleasant screened porch looking out into woods with lake beyond. We bring our own mobile hot spot since there's no internet onsite.

2 Weeks in Paradise

This is a charming, funky house that is very comfortable. It is 30 steps away from a pristine lake, with immediate access. The lake is very under-used to I got to take my 2-hour swims with minimal worry about social distancing in the water. Our 3 cats loved it. They got to go outside, and the road is little traveled, so they were safe. I wish I could just live there. So restful and restorative after 3 months of NYC covid emergency!

Paradise

It's a charming, funky house, with a view of the lake from one upstairs bedroom and treetops from the other. The screened porch is heaven to sit on. The lake is 20 steps away. The neighboring houses aren't far, but totally screened off by foliage. We are tucked away there. The lake is indescribably wonderful and accommodated my 2-hour swims quite nicely, thank you very much. Thanks to the ducks, hummingbirds, and heron too! We brought our 3 cats, and they also were in heaven, roaming freely (but coming in at night). The road is not heavily used so pretty safe for them. Barbara is an excellent host. Very hard to leave!

A quiet and relaxing getaway in a unique home

If you're looking to get away from noise, traffic, and light pollution this is the place for you! The house is set back from the lake with lovely views of the lake from the screened in porch and the upstairs bedroom. It's set amongst the trees. I felt like I was enjoying the woods as if I was camping but with all the comforts of home. It's very private. Where and how it is situated made it the perfect place to be during this summer's heat and humidity. It's soooo much cooler there. I used only the outdoor shower for the entire two weeks I was there and it was delightful. Like showering in the woods! There is a short wooded path to the lake with a private dock. There are only small trolling motors allowed on the lake so it's the perfect place to enjoy the boats provided, swim, or float around without dodging boats and wakes. The area by the dock has some of the best fishing on the lake. There are four association beaches around the lake. My young adult children and a few of their friends paddled over to one and spent the entire day and a blast. The beaches would be a great place for little ones as well and the area around the dock is shallow enough for littles to wade around. The association clubhouse is very nice and all the facilities are very well-kept. I was a little worried about how renters might be perceived at a private lake community like this but everyone I met in the community was very nice and welcoming. This cottage is a unique gem on a quiet lake.

Wonderful summer stay

We stayed for much of the summer it couldn't have gone better. There was plenty for the kids to do - from the daily swimming, boating and fishing, to the games, puzzles and toys on the occasional rainy day. The beaches all lovely and easy to get to, without ever being crowded. They have amenities nearby. Overall, it was really a memorable time, and I couldn't recommend it more.

Sweet spot.

Great locale for relaxing out of the hubub of upper Berkshires. Clise to all we wanted to do. Host was very accomodating and responsive. Lots of character in the older cottage, but with all modern amenities in close proximity. Lake and beach were easily accessible and clean.

Dream cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage, especially our pup who thought it was entirely his vacation and would wait by the door to go swimming. Morning coffee in the screened in porch was beautiful and our cats enjoyed listening to the outdoors. Canoeing, kayaking and swimming right from the property was the highlight of our stay. The construction of the cottage and its history was also very endearing and added to our appreciation of Adrian and his family sharing it with us. In the end the cottage felt like home and we did not want to leave.

Heaven

This was our second stay. It's such a cozy house, perfect for a couple, although our guests were well accommodated as well. Just a few steps to the lake. Had a great time swimming, kayaking, pedal-boating. Barbara was an excellent hostess - easly accessbile and responsive. Can't wait to get back. This is a refuge!

Great escape

Lovely stay in Tolland. Barbara was a great host. Kids loved kayaking on the lake, so peaceful.

A well-loved rustic cottage perfect for a city dog's retreat (and dog-parents)

Fall is a beautiful time to visit this pond-front cottage to escape New York city life for leaf-peeping in the surrounding woods and countryside roads, the sounds of a babbling brook, sitting by the fire, dawn at the pond, and canoeing with your fur-baby. The cottage is pond-front with a dock that has a shallow bottom, which my cocker spaniel loved to jump off and go swimming. My dog had the time of his life, and we got to unplug and recharge through a simpler lifestyle. The cottage is rustic, and it is also well stocked and thoughtfully decorated with heartwarming retroelements. It's a great place for Plein-air painters and writers too. Barbara is welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful, and responsive. We will be going back in the spring! If you go, Granville Scoop is a must; with a great selection of sugarless and regular ice cream. I would recommend this cottage to my friends and family who need a change of pace.

Perfect Autumn Getaway

We spent a wonderful, relaxing week here during the height of the fall foliage. No matter the weather, it was perfect: reading in the hammock by the lake, enjoying a fire in the woodstove, walking the beautiful roads. The owners were very responsive and helpful. We would absolutely stay here again!

Peace and quiet in a beautiful setting

My husband and I were looking for a quiet getaway for week in a pond woodsy area, in a comfortable setting. We're former campers so we didn't want anything too fancy! We enjoyed using the provided water craft and just sitting by the edge of the pond reading and relaxing. It was a bit cooler than we expected so we didn't take advantage of the many well maintained beaches around the pond. We did enjoy building a fire in the wood stove after dinner and getting comfortable with a good book. My only complaint would be I wish we had been alerted to the fact that mice were busy this year. No big deal in our eyes, but we should have been told, and we could have stored our food stuffs accordingly. We also wondered what the neighborhood would have been like during a non-pandemic summer. Would it have been as peaceful? We'd be game going back for another visit in the future. We really enjoyed our stay!

Lakeside relaxation

A truly unique cabin by a beautifully clean & natural lake. This home is full of personality, we felt as if we were welcome guests in a place defined by years of family enjoyment. Games, bikes & boats are available in abundance, and a spirit of simple honest pleasure is evident in the whole setup. We completely enjoyed our stay.
