Charming cabin

Stayed in Baby Bear (there’s also a papa bear and mama bear cabin on property. Very sweet cabin for 2 people . Owners were lovely and responsive. Cabin is cute and, although basic, is perfect for two people. Nice hot tub. Great location.

This place was so cute!!

This cabin is so cute and perfect for a couples getaway! It had a hot tub next to a waterfall feature that was super relaxing to fall asleep to at night! Would definitely recommend and would come back!

Wonderful Spot

Super cozy cabin and lovely location. I had a great time and wish I could have spent more time there. The wifi worked fine, and it was not a serious issue for me but it’s important to know that AT&T (at least for me) does not have cell reception there.

This is a great little Nevada City get away cabin

Sweet little cabin tucked just a few miles from town. Super friendly owners, easy check in and out, fresh roasted coffee beans and a small pond/waterfall oasis near your private hot tub. Super cozy, super clean rustic style cabin. I'm giving this place a five out of five.

BB Bear

Stayed at baby bear. Larger cabin on property was empty so we had a private, quiet stay. Great proximity to Nevada City’s many fine offerings and outdoor recreation. Loved the hot tub, fireplace, and water feature.

Breath of fresh air

Property was exactly what we needed. Very cozy and quiet. Look forward to returning and possibly considering trying to rent the whole property for a wedding next year.

sweet anniversary

We stayed in this sweet cottage for 3 nights to celebrate our anniversary and we loved it. It was cozy and we really enjoyed the hot tub and the pond! We went to the river each day and explored Nevada city. We will recommend this to family and friends.

Baby Bear’s Cabin

My partner and stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay! We LOVED the waterfall and tiered ponds! The hot tub was great to relax in at night. The property is located close to the historic town Nevada City. We were able to explore different things near us. We plan to rent the cabin again in the future, maybe even rent all 3 for our family as a group.

Exceeds all expectations

The Baby Bear cabin exceeded all our expectations. It was clean, comfortable, and safe. The property was beautiful and relaxing, and the back patio waterfall amd pond was a really peaceful space. We expect to rerurn and utlize more of the cabins in the future.

Perfect retreat for a couple

Well just to start off the pics on the site may be a little old because on arrival the decor in the cabin was updated, floors redone and it was gorgeous. This was the perfect escape for my wife and I, the jacuzzi was wondeful, the bed comfortable. Everything was clean and put just perfect in place. We will definitely be retuning in the future.

Fantastic and romantic

My husband and I stayed here in October 2009 for 2 nights. We had a great, great time. We were especially happy about the pond and the sculptures in the backyard. But the hot tub was probably the best thing of all. Cabin is extremely cute and comfortable and romantic for a couple. We will return for sure!

Awesome!

Great place, highly recommended. Even though it's right next to another lodge, it was still very private and felt nice to have space. Only issue is finding the place. GPS and the map was pretty confusing! Maybe ask the manager for clearer directions on where to turn into the property. Thanks!

Absolutely perfect!

This cabin is the cutest and most perfect getaway ever. It’s so clean, cozy, and completely stocked with anything and everything you could ever need and the bed is huge and soft. Everything is extremely thoughtful and done with the customer experience in mind. There’s a tv with dish and even different games and books and activities. The hot tub is nice and private and the private pond is so beautiful and serene. It was fairly easy to find, the check in was perfect because we didn’t even have to do anything, it was just ready for us without anyone. It was also private and quiet. Everything was so perfect and comfortable and cozy that I didn’t want to leave! It had the ultimate cozy cabin vibe. We will be back for sure.

Peaceful and relaxing

Everything was wonderful. We loved listening to the sounds of nature and the waterfall. Very comfortable with all the amenities of home. The river was close and we found a new location that we had never been to which we thoroughly enjoyed. The cabin was close to town but still out in the woods. The owners made everything very easy such as directions and entry into the cabin. The only thing I would suggest to the owners is to make sure the housekeepers get the spider webs. I realize we are out in the forest but the cobs webs that I took down had been there for a while. I am excited to find such an awesome place and look forward to staying there again. The other cabins on the property looked very inviting for larger families. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable.

Beautiful setting, unfortunately cabin floors and carpet dirty

When I arrive at a VRBO it is and was a beautiful setting. But one thing I really want clean are my floors. I noticed in the cabin of baby bear dog prints and what looked like unclean floors so I decided to get down on hands and knees and do a little cleaning to see just how dirty it was. I ended up cleaning the kitchen tile floor and the wood floor where we spent most of our time as carpet was in the bedroom. They were quite dirty. It’s like they had forgotten to clean it for sometime. The throw carpets were pretty dirty, so I put towels down all around so we could walk on the clean towels. we felt the bedding was a bit on the old side and needed some refreshing stains on the bedspread, etc. But other than that we slept like babies, the scenery is gorgeous with a waterfall in the back and a private Jacuzzi. It was close to hiking, which we loved! We would like to return if we felt the cleaning was better as the setting truly was beautiful and very private.

Will stay again in the future!

My partner and I had a wonderful time during our stay and are already talking about when we could come back and stay here again! We read the other reviews and listing so we knew to expect no cell service and that the wifi might be a bit slow or patchy, so this wasn’t an issue for us. Honestly it was nice being away from all of the notifications! The hosts were prompt and super happy to help when we needed the router restarted at the beginning of our stay. It was lovely and warm in the cabin, and the hot tub was very private and clean. If you’re looking for a relaxing place to getaway with homey and charming decor, friendly hosts, and a peaceful location, look no further! I think we had some of the best sleep of our lives — after a lounge in the hot tub, the bed was so comfortable and the sounds of the pond and waterfall out back lulled us right to sleep. There is a large cabin nearby, but for our stay it felt like we were the only people around, which was a nice surprise. We had a very unexpected bit of snow on our day of check out, which was lovely! Expect that there might not be cell service and that the wifi won’t be super fast, but be sure to tell the hosts immediately if you need wifi help. After the router was reset, we were able to watch several episodes of a show on Netflix with some initial buffering in the beginning but that worked fine otherwise. Wouldn’t recommend for zoom calls, but who wants to work on vacation anyway? 😊

Amazing property

Loved the property. No cell service but I was aware of that prior to booking. Loved the Hot Tub and the Koi pond. The owner came to get us set up with Wifi when we first got there. Will definetely make a trip back. The Fall leaves were beautiful on the property.

A fantastic place to gather the family.

Our family stayed in the cabins for our wedding, and everyone was raving about how nice, spacious, and accommodating the property and owners were. We are already making plans to bring our friends up here for a weekend in the future. Highly recommended!!!

This place is a real gem

Everything was lovely and clean and in good shape. There were extra nice touches we appreciated like the robes and local soaps. We loved the private back patio and hot tub. The couple times we communicated owners was very prompt and easy and clear. We had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again!

Rene had always wanted a log home, ever since she was a child. When we found this property in 2000, we knew it was where we wanted to live and continue raising our son. We have three cabins on the property, all of which are now vacation rentals: Papa Bear's Lodge, Mama Bear's Cabin and Baby Bear's Cottage. We lived in the main lodge for a number of years until our son was grown and on his own. Now we live in town next to Rene's pottery studio. You will see some of her pots in the cabins. We love our guests who are all fantastic and take wonderful care when renting our cabins.

Derfor er dette overnatningssted unikt

Even though we are only 3 miles from the center of town, you feel like you are out in the woods. In the summer time, the children's camp next door emits sounds of laughter and activity. Some of our renters have even taken a ride on the zip line which is high up in the tree tops. In the fall winter and spring is the quiet time. The cabins are decorated with art of all kinds, and cozy comfortable furniture. The setting in the open woods is very special, and we have loved watching the generations of dear, squirrel and turkey families wander through. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we have!
