The Anchor Cottage at 8 Top Battery Road surpassed our expectations which were high to start. The cottage is nestled in a wonderful traditional neighbourhood, perched on the cliff looking out over St John’s harbour. The facility was clean updated and located close to both downtown and the scenic hike to Signal Hill. The deck view was simply spectacular. I highly recommend this cottage for anyone looking for either an active holiday exploring St.John’s and environs, for for a relaxing restful break. It’s terrific.

This property was super clean and what a great location. Walking distance to signal hill and downtown St. John’s made sightseeing easy! The view of the harbour and downtown was beautiful. Watching the ships come and go from the deck with my morning coffee, and then later on enjoying the lights of downtown…beautiful! The appliances looked near new, and the cookware was good quality. The host was very accommodating and super easy to get ahold of. We would love to stay here again!

Excellent location and space

The property is as listed. It's a great space located in a wonderful location that is walking distance to downtown and signal hill. We enjoyed the view. It has all the amenities we needed. The owner was quick to resolve a check in issue where I didn't receive the entry information when I called them. Would absolutely book again.

Lovely convenient cottage with excellent views

My friend and I had a wonderful week staying here in mid-May. The weather was chilly (it even snowed) but the heating worked well. I've stayed in many rental properties over the years, but never one as well equipped and nicely furnished as this. It's in the best part of town, and the parking space is a luxury.The entryway was a little bit awkward for someone with balance issues - a step up, and a step down to get in - but that was the only possible criticism.I would heartily recommend this home.

Great view of the harbour.

Cottage/Villa was terrific. Perfect location, few minutes walk to Signal Hill and downtown. Very clean. Stocked with the necessities and more. Including coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper and some spices. Had everything we needed to make meals in the villa. Definitely would recommend.

Incredible location!!

We walked almost everywhere we needed or wanted to go. And we so enjoyed overlooking the harbor. The home was more than adequate. We were very comfortable and the place very well maintained. Highly recommend. Thanks to Rochelle for making these 2 Texans happy.

Great home in a perfect location.

We loved our visit. We walked to everything in the downtown area. And up to signal hill. The home had everything you could want, was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The washer and dryer we so helpful. Checking in was a breeze. The view was great. I loved watching the boats. We loved our stay. Hope we can visit again.

Wonderful Stay

Just came back from 8 days in St John's. The Anchor cottage was just great. The location is super. It was nice to set out on the balcony and watch the ships come in and out and just enjoy the harbor. The walk downtown was easy, even though the way back has so up hill parts. There is a nice trail up to Signal Hill right by the house. Everything you need is provided. We did some nice day trips so the location is good for that. Enjoy your stay, Rochelle was quick to answer any questions we had.

THE Battery St. John's

A wonderful place to spend a few days while visiting St. John's. Perfect location with a view of the harbour. Easy walk to downtown restaurants and shops. Perfect begining for hike to Battery and viewpoints. Directions to cottage and for entering property were clear and concise. Unit was clean and provided all the amenities for longer stay. Pictures provided on site accurately depicted the unit.Well worth the price!

Hidden Treasure

Spent a week here and loved every minute of it. The views are amazing from every window. It was hard to leave for the day with all the activity going on in the harbour and at night the lights of St. John's were spectacular. We had a hard time finding the house, it is really tricky to navigate the small narrow streets on Battery Road but once you get there it is easy in and easy out. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything you would need. Very quiet area, except for the fog horns, which I loved. Great hiking right out the front door. Would absolutely stay here again and would highly recommend it for the best view of St. John's!

Convenient

Great location, clean and comfortable. Washer/dryer with soap was appreciated. Walking distance to everything. If you turn left on Battery Rd., you head to the city, turn right and you head to the trail that eventually leads up to Signal Hill and continues on to Quidi Vidi Village. 15 minutes from the airport. Enjoyed watching the freighters in the port right from our very own balcony. We enjoyed hiking to Signal Hill where we saw plenty of whales and an iceberg. Quidi Vidi Brewery is not a pub but has beer tastings which was very informative not only about the beer, but fun Newfoundland facts. Really enjoyed YellowBelly Brewery on Water St. with great food and beer. Would highly recommend Cap'n Wayne's out of Bay Bulls about 25 mins. away for a boat tour seeing puffins, whales, birds, etc. The boat only holds 8 customers so it felt very personal and he's full of great information.

Battery Bluff Cottage A -- Water Front View!

We really enjoyed our week at Battery Bluff Cottage A. This one level cottage has 2 bedrooms, washer and dryer, full size kitchen with appliances (pots, pans, coffee maker and filters, microwave, toaster, dishes, glasses, eating cooking and serving utensils, etc) living room, and one full bathroom. There is a small deck overlooking the docks with full view of the harbor. The owner has made a special effort in reducing the stress of her guests. She provides laundry detergent! as well as all paper products, plenty of linens, throws for lounging on the couch, COFFEE, and a variety of other small items! There is an ironing board available, laundry hamper, brochures, and did i say coffee?? Yes, Tim Horton's coffee! There is a designated parking place for this unit, which is especially nice because parking is limited in the area. Cottage "A" is located within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. Keep in mind some of the roads are steep, but traffic is very pedestrian friendly. We can highly recommend this owner and Cottage "A"!

Adorable home in a fantastic location

Wow. We just got home from spending a week at this adorable home situated in a fantastic location. Every morning we watched the ships come in and out of the harbor while enjoying our coffee on the balcony. While we rented a car as we wanted to see a lot of the surrounding area you could truly do without if you don’t mind walking and steep hills. We walked in to town on many occasions for shopping, meals, sightseeing etc. We also walked to the Johnson Geo Center, to the top of Signal Hill (great hiking steps from the front door), the Rooms etc. The house came with everything you need. There were plenty of towels, dishes, appliances etc. There was even coffee and sugar so we did not need to go out the first morning we were there which was great since we arrived late the night before. Beds were comfortable and the Wi-Fi and Cable worked great. Rochelle was awesome to work with and answered my many questions. Management was also easy to work with and very responsive. Since it was late and we were very tired when we got there we had a hard time with the lock box and called management at 10pm. Just as we had retrieved the key from the lock box Shelley had arrived to help us. Now driving over at 10pm to help your renters is definitely going above and beyond excellent customer service. Our son is going to MUN so we will be making many trips from the US back to St. John’s and plan to rent this house from Rochelle each and every time.

Very nice and comfortable apartment. Good location with a very cool balcony with the view of the Harbour. Loved watching the ships going in and out of it. The only negative thing was that the WiFi was unsecured. The cellular network worked fine. Still giving five stars.

St. John's Dream!

I knew I would like the location of this little place but it surpassed my expectations. The cottage sits right on the harbour and has a small balcony and a clear view of Signal Hill and the Narrows, through to the west end of town. It was enjoyable to watch ships, tugs and cruise vessels come and go at all hours. Sunsets over St John's were followed by pretty harbour lights. 2 good-sized bedrooms with nice decor and very comfortable queen beds! Part of the East Coast trail was right outside the door, and you can hike to Quidi Vidi or walk into downtown (1km). It was picturesque, peaceful, accessible, clean, stocked with tea and coffee, and a 1 min walk to the Battery Cafe, and 3 min walk to Zachary's! 20 min drive to Petty Harbour, 30 min to Obrien's Boat trips. I would stay for a month if I could.
