Beautiful family home with view of the Shotover River

This is a beautiful home with a great layout for family living but it also suited us perfectly, a couple with no children. Great entertaining and lounging areas, and we found we did a lot of meals at home. A retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Queenstown but also minutes away.

Fell in Love!

This beautiful home has stunning views. Also, the floor plan is perfect for family and friends’ sleeping arrangements. Beautiful property inside and out.

Wonderful place with outstanding views

We loved our stay at the Amberly retreat. The house is very comfortable and the views from the living and dining areas and the garden are sublime. The kitchen is very well equipped and it was nice that there were some basics in the pantry like oil, vinegar, tea etc. We were skiing and the fields are all in reasonable distance. The beds were super comfy and we slept really well. We could've stayed much longer and would highly recommend it to others.

Great time at Amberley

Amazing view

Fantastic place to stay with family. Lovely and warm through winter. Goodstay looks after the property and the only thing I found off putting was the rubbish collection instructions. $25 per bag is pretty steep if you go over your allocated number of rubbish bags.

Thanks Bree Thanks for your feedback really appreciate it. The rubbish allocation is based on our destination and cost for waste disposal, we allocate 2 x 75L bags of general waste complimentary for a 7 nights stay, a total of 150L of general waste which is slightly more than the equivalent of what council allows per week for a household using a council bin. If the stay is more than 7 days then we look a this and will generally allow for more, we take into concideration the whole picture and will access from there. Thanks again Bree. Amazing Amberley

Stay up late to see endless shooting stars. Tranquil, safe yard for kids with sheep, llama/alpaca and golden retrievers keeping the kids amused. Layout of the house allowed for room to move and privacy with good separation for two small families traveling together. Communication with Goodstays was really good. Definitely would choose this home next time we are back in Queenstown.

February Stay

We used the house as our base for many outdoor activities in the Queenstown area. Wine tasting, excellent restaurants, whitewater rafting, jet boating, hiking. Barbecue also provided opportunity to cook good meals at home. Grocery stores conveniently located nearby. Only suggestion: leave instruction manuals for us foreigners to figure out how to work the NZ appliances!

Fantastic View And Home

I toyed with finding a place closer to town but I was glad to have settled with the Amberley home. The single story home is well laid out with the guest bedrooms away from the master so no interaction. The kitchen, dining area and living room all have fabulous views. The kitchen is well equipped so any type cooking is possible and everything was sparkling clean. The washer and dryer came in super handy as we normally travel light with only one carry on luggage. A short five minute drive and there is a nice shopping complex with two markets, lots of restaurants and various retail shops. A minute further is an indoor electric go kart complex for super thrills. The airport is next door so easy in and out. Downtown is 13-15 minutes away depending on traffic and here again glad to have stayed away from all the walking tourists and traffic. The neighborhood is upscale with similar custom homes so the area is super safe. All in all an impressive home that we would not have any hesitation to stay again.

Great location

Clean and spacious property in great peaceful location overlooking the Shotover river. Would recommend to larger family and hope to come back one day soon.

Great house

Excellent house for us (6 adults) for a long weekend stay. Quiet, clean, great kitchen and lounge setup, beautiful views across to Coronet Peak. Would definitely recommend this place, and would stay there again.

Great location with awesome views and plenty of outside lawn area. The house was perfect inside too.

Was perfect for us not wanting to be in the hub of Queenstown , yet only a short drive away. Close to airport and new shopping centres that have everything, but it feels far away from all Being on the hillside with acreage viewing Coronet Peak and the Shotover River was amazing. The house is modern , well equipped and spacious too. Good temperature inside with the preset underfloor heating . Used the gas fireplace as well in lounge on a couple of colder evenings . Will be back for more

Beautiful house; shame about management

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. Reviewer Comments: Beautiful property with excellent views, the management at Goodstays let the team though. The good: - Great views of Shotover River and Coronet Peak - Remote-feeling location but only 5 mins from Frankton and 10 mins from Queenstown - Well-designed quite modern house - Spacious, great for families - Good dishwasher and laundry facilities - Great kitchen which was well stocked for cooking - Sky TV, with some kids toys, kids DVDs and books/magazines The bad: - We ran out of hot water on the last night of our stay. Called the property manager who was not very pleasant and quite rude, and told me "this is all in your compendium" (which it isn't, there is nothing in the compendium about hot water!). Told me on 1st call that it was gas hot water on bottles, and I needed to change to the 2nd bottle. Called him back as unable to rectify, he told me he wasn't sending anyone out, and to pour some "hot water" on the tap valve to help open it. When this didn't work and I realised both gas bottles were completely empty, I tried to call back, the phone had been put off the hook (unable to get through) so called the emergency assistance number (which was the same person!) - he was quite rude and said he had "already spoken to me twice about this tonight" and why was I ringing. I explained both gas bottles were empty, it was clear no-one had checked them recently, so he told me to hook up the gas bottle from the BBQ, which also ran out promptly within 3 minutes of hot water! No follow-up call at all, lucky it was our last night as no hot water in Queenstown in winter is not fun! - Also Goodstays in general seemed a bit over the top. Only allowed to fill two garbage bags for our 7-night stay in a family 3 bedroom house, otherwise charged extra fees! Also asked for late check-out, informed we could check out 2 hours later for $80 + GST!! I've never come across such treatment for guests, particularly when paying this much per night.

Not a good system

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I was unable to stay due to ill health. I was unable to cancel and paid the full amount. The bond was refunded but not the incidental charges like linen which would not have been used as we never went there I would never be using a system that takes the full amount as a deposit ever again. Its dumb frankly. Theres better systems out there and you should try and rethink your policy.
