Beautiful site and great suite

The suite had everything we needed as a family. The site was well kept and the hot tub a nice touch. Girdwood is a cute little spot and feels like it is much further from the city than it is which is great for a get away.!

Thank you , the Suite is a full apartment, used only as a rental, and kept impeccably clean. A large hot tub is available for all guests to enjoy in this quiet getaway resort town.

Great location! Clean & Comfortable!

Stayed at the Carriage House while in town for a ski race with my husband and two kids and it was a wonderful experience. Kitchen had everything we needed, but if you don't want to cook, you can walk right up the driveway and you are at the Double Musky! Beds were comfortable, bathrooms in every room and the hot tub was a nice option after long, cold days on the slopes.

Thank you for your response! The Carriage House is located directly across from the Double Musky Restaurant and 1 mile from the ski resort. The hot tub make a nice end to any day, along with many summer games that are available.

Girdwood

This is a wonderful place to stay and we especially loved having a separate bathroom with each bedroom. There is not much of a common space inside but there are lawn chairs outside and no breakfast which we were prepared for but good to know .

Thank you for pointing out 2 important features of this apartment...each bedroom has its own en-suite bath but because it is designed as a B&B the common area/gathering space is small. This unit is perfect for those wanting their own bedrooms and baths but are spending there time out and about. This is located on 2 beautiful acres and has outdoor spaces to gather.

Great place for family get-a-way!

The bedrooms with individual bathrooms were comfortable and made for less time waiting for everyone to "go out". The kitchen/dining area is small but worked just fine for making our own breakfast/lunch and snack times. The close proximity to the "Double Musky" makes at least one dinner out a breeze. the hot tub made for fun evening soak, leading to a nice quiet night of sleep. Owners were easy to contact and were interested in our comfort. Highly recommend this rental.

Thank you for your review! Each bedroom in the Suite has its own bath, but the common areas - Kitchen, dining room and living room are small, as this space is typically run as a Bed & Breakfast. The Double Musky, probably the best restaurant in Alaska, is directly across the street! The hot tub, has an amazing gazebo and adds a nice end to any day =)

Awesome

Any of the negative reviews are BS. This place is great. No common area isn’t huge for parties but listing is very clear. Many cooking basics are in fridge who’s is awesome. We love pay it forward VRBO homes. Still their dog is great and Lucy the cat likes to visit. Totally recommend!

Thank you for your review and kind words! The Suite is designed as a B&B and as such offers 3 bedrooms each with an in-suite bath with a cozy living, dinning room and kitchen. Our two pets Stella the chocolate lab mmix and Lucy the black and white kitty, both rescues and into their senior years enjoy welcoming our guests as much as we do!

Great location

This was our second time staying at the carriage house. It has a great location. This time there was a group of 6 of us and we fit nicely into the suite and liked that each room had its own bathroom. The owners are so friendly and accommodating.

Comfortable stay in Girdwood

Our stay at the carriage house suite was great. Rachel was an awesome host, who was always checking in to make sure everything was to our liking. The location is convenient for going to Alyeska and to the other shops and restaurants in town. We didn't cook while we were there but there seemed to be all the things there you would need to make a meal. Overall this was a great stay that I'd recommend.

Pleasantly surprised

It was clean, cozy, and very relaxing. Exactly what me and my mom friends needed to let loose and let go of the daily stresses. We enjoyed to hot tub and the nestled in the woods feel.

Nice & Clean Winter Wonderland

Property is maintained and cared for and had well thought out rooms and amenities. TVs in each of the rooms might leave a family needing one in the sitting area for little one’s but makes sense for adults that would rather visit and play games. Owner Rachel was welcoming and helpful. It is located directly across the street from the famous Double Musky restaurant which is always on our “must go” list when visiting Girdwood. The only thing we were expecting from seeing the listing was a fireplace that we could enjoy but there was not one in the downstairs unit (this is a multi-unit place so there very well could have been one somewhere else). We will definitely be back!

Snowy NYE 2020

We had a wonderful time at the Carriage house on NYE. It was such a nice touch that Rachel & Jake left homemade breads to greet us with when we checked in. The bedrooms were very spacious and we loved that each had its private bathroom. Rachel was so nice to check in with us to make sure there wasn't anything we needed. We also enjoyed the community hot tub. We woke up New Years day to 20" of snow and they were so quick to plow the driveway so that we could head home. We really enjoyed our stay and their hospitality and would definitely recommend this property.

a boarding house in the woods - don't be excited

Beware- Read the lodging description carefully. I thought I rented the space for 2 families to celebrate a birthday, but the atmosphere was depressing. re-reading the ad, I suppose it is accurate to call the common spaces "cozy" because the broken table could only seat 3 people. Anyone else needed to hover awkwardly near the door which opens directly into the kitchen. what was possibly intended to be the living room is simply a bedroom with a futon and tv. there are no windows in the dining area so the space is dark and narrow. overall it appears the space has been converted to function as a boarding house or B&B. it should not be used for larger groups or families. the entrance is not lit or well-marked, but you can find it as long as you know where the Double Musky is. when you arrive, don't be surprised that the care-giver's dog will be released from upstairs to bark at you. this dog will not hurt you but it will be released at you every time a guest comes and goes. the Carriage House website and listing is deceptive. You'll see images of beautiful stand-alone houses, but that's not what you're renting! Renter beware. If you're solo or a couple and don't plan to hang around in your room- it's in pleasant walking distance from downtown Girdwood.

We can only hope that guests booking our property will read the description which clearly states this is an apartment on the 1st level of our home. There are 3 well appointed bedrooms each with an ensuite bath. The common areas are small for larger groups trying to gather which is why we cap the number of people at 6 and clearly state that. If spending your time out, this property is ideal and good value, as it is set up and run in the summer as a B&B, and as such has very nice amenities. No parties are permitted or unreserved guests, this guest had both and were therefore crowded and uncomfortable. Our mixed lab "Stella" does like to greet guests with a warm barking welcome! Rachel Hatcher, the last of 7 girls, grew up on a family farm in West Jupiter, Florida, where along with her sisters raised and trained horses and cattle, and showed through the 4-H program. She attended Florida Atlantic University and graduated with a bachelor of Finance with a minor in Accounting . After working in Public Accounting for several years, she realized sitting behind a desk was not her cup of tea. She met Jake in 1991 and soon after took a long sabbatical to travel Australia and New Zealand by bicycle, which opened her eyes beyond the corporate ladder and and eventually brought her to Alaska in 1994

Jake Thompson, grew up in the Panama Canal Zone, and spent many summers in Sabula, Iowa where his mother’s side of the family is from. Jake is the 3rd generation from Panama with grandparents that went to work on the Panama Canal in 1905. A few years after graduating High School, Jake came to the States and lived in Tallahassee, Florida where he played Rugby and pursued a trade education. Jake ended up in the construction field and his love of woodworking led to the desire to build timber frame homes, and the Carriage House Accommodations is a fine example of his work.

Walking distance to hiking trails, many activities, shops and restaurants. This Craftsman style unit will warm you with the beautiful wood beams and quality woodworking.

Located right on the edge of town within easy walking distance to many restaurants (directly across from the Double Musky Restaurant), shops, easy access to great hiking trails and 1 mile to Alyeska Ski Resort.
