The place is big and beautiful... nice backyard too, if you just want to chillax when it's not a beach day Lovely kitchen, nice owner, big driveway Deck with table and umbrella behind house is great for al fresco dining

Great holiday near a wonderful beach

Home is well situated, fully equipped, and very comfortable. Hosts were wonderful and extremely helpful. Would definitely return.

Wonderful 4 week vacation

Moonstone by the Sea was very spacious and comfortable for our 4 weeks at the RI beach area. Beautiful home in a great location! John, our host, was very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Any request we had, John was right on it. Thanks for a wonderful vacation.

Wonderful place!

We loved our stay at this great house. Excellent location - near beaches, restaurants and great ice cream shop, but also quiet and rural feeling. Plenty of room for 6 adults and 2 children (4 1/2 and 2). The 4 yo loved her special tower room. Host was quick to respond and helpful. Loved the grounds, with bunnies everywhere and lots of space for spirited children.

Moonstone in late August

Lovely house in an interesting and unique area! Loved being so close to the beach, and everywhere we went the food was amazingly fresh! Ground floor level guest room and bathroom was amazing for our parents.

Great location.

House was comfortable. Outdoor shower was amazing. The beach is a quick bike ride and beautiful. It was nice to have the private beach during these times. John was a great host.

Wonderful Experience at Moonstone By Sea

What a lovely home this is. Plenty of space for all 5 of us to be able to sit and relax in our own little areas if we wanted to do do some daydreaming or reading. Stunning gardens & landscape. Enjoyed sitting with family outside in gardens at night talking. We could hear the ocean waves while eating our meals outside on back deck. Very private, yet accessible to beach (10 min walking distance/ 2 min car ride)! Immaculately clean. Owners John/Sheryl very friendly, and respectful of our privacy. Would definitely rent here again next summer if we do not find a home to buy for ourselves.

Perfect Home!!!!!

It was such a beautiful, well cared for home. John and Sheryl, the owners, were so pleasant and provided us with information regarding the beaches and restaurants. Every morning I would enjoy my coffee while looking at the ground hogs playing outside! So cute!

Private setting in rural beach front area

Terrific house, clean and well appointed, plenty of pot and pans, and everything works. Moonstone beach, THE nicest beach in RI is a half mike walk away. 15 minutes from Narragansett and right down the street from the internationally famous Ocean Mist and Matunuck Oyster Bar.

Be cautious!

Take caution with this property as looks can be deceiving. We booked for a week, and ended up staying all of 10 minutes, and are now have filed a claim for refund. Upon arrival, we were confused to find there were 4 cars in the driveway, and dirty towels hanging in the deck. We soon discovered that the garage that is listed, is actually a residence for the owners. Once entering the home, it appeared to be slightly unkempt, not the level of cleanliness we’ve grown accustomed to with our previous VRBO rentals. It was also noted that their was a broken window(with a note saying “sorry”), exposed wiring, and smoke detectors that were clearly broken. The hotub listed is actually just a jacuzzi in the master. The AC that is listed was a few simple window units for a large house, and therefore useless. As a large family with young children, all of this was concerning. I contacted the owner, John,who immediately appeared before in a confrontational state. He got loud and aggressive toward me, in front of my children. He told me that we were welcome to leave if unhappy. I told him we would for a refund. To which he replied “not a (expletive) chance”, again in front of my children. I then decided we’d try to make the best of it. He then said that I must’ve mis read the description of property and it is exactly as listed, and returned to the garage. As I unpacked, I received the ad again and saw no mention of the shared domicile. I screen shotted the description and sent to him. He immediately returned again being aggressive in front of my children and demanded we leave. Again I asked for a refund. John consented, took his laptop and sat down in the kitchen, mere feet from myself and the children and began typing on the vrbo website that eh would refund the money for our stay. He told me, my 16 year old daughter, my 9 year old daughter and my 8 month old son we needed to vacate the premises immediately or he would call the police. Not wanting further drama for the children, and being satisfied with the refund; we packed up and left. My wife, who wasn’t with us at the time, luckily found us an amazing rental few miles away, in the same range with immediate availability and we were able to salvage our vacation. Once we were gone, John reneged on his refund promise through a series of adversarial messages. We have since filed a claim with Vrbo and expect a refund. Please be cautious and review the listing carefully.

To any who may take a moment to read this guest's interpretation--anyone--a frequent traveler, or otherwise---best to read between the lines. In our now 5th year of VRBO (and other sites) not ONE negative review for us...not a single one.-----raise some questions..? WE ARE RATED 5 STAR, AND ON THE 'OTHER' WEBSITE: we are SUPERHOSTS, a designation dependent on ,specifically, 100% positive reviews, (nothing less, or you lose the designation) and performance excellence that must be consistently scored at the highest end of the spectrum. How is it this guest saw this property in this way..? And to evaluate all these "DETAILS" before he was told to leave--in just TEN MINUTES..?? He never got past the entry foyer....! Neither my wife or myself are medical professionals---yet it was quite clear something was not good with this individual---a sentiment apparently also shared by his wife--who he inexplicably indicated was not present. They arrived in a heat----overwhelmed,-- arguing--........ In a FIRST ---not only for a negative review on a GUEST---(ever !!) but we EXPELLED -- (REALLY) him from our home---A physically threatening, hostile guy. We encourage you to read our MANY REAL reviews ---how could they, collectively, be so opposite...?? ANSWER: He made it up, the entire thing, just to get money. To any hosts out there getting an inquiry from this individual--be advised----stay away!!

Luxurious Comfortable location for a quiet retreat

This property gave me and my family a perfect retreat - comfortable, luxurious and very spacious! Stocked up kitchen with kitchen supplies, a very spacious living area for entertaining. The property was perfect for the kids to play in the yard, and the adults to play along!

Great Stay in a Perfect Location!

Perfect spot for URI graduation weekend. Close to campus as well as Naragansett, but felt like we were off the beaten path. John, the owner made us feel at home and was extremely responsive when we had a minor issue. The house is well appointed and has a unique layout. We would go back!

A beautiful house with fantastic kitchen and dream master bath. Does have a lot of stairs.

We spent a wonderful weekend at John's house for my daughter's graduation from URI. There were bedrooms and bathrooms for all. The master bath is a dream. The kitchen is made for cooking. We spent two nights cooking together and gathering in the comfortable chairs off the kitchen. We were all together but everyone had space. We were never cramped together. This house does have a lot of stairs which needs to be a consideration is you have someone in your group that has problems. There is a bedroom and full bath that only require two stairs.

John was a great guy and owns a beautiful house on a nice lot.

The Owner was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. He showed us around the house and provides us with everything we needed for the weekend. Overall the house was beautiful with a big back yard and nice patio area. The house is located on a secluded lot with not much around. Would highly recommend this house for people looking for a quiet getaway or area to have a small get together. The only thing to be aware of is this house actually has two rentals. One the main house and there is an apartment above the garage which may also be rented out for the weekend.

Magnificent home and property

My wife and I cannot say enough good things about this home. Being from the area I already knew the location would be perfect, but it was great to see my wife fall in love with my hometown as well. John, the owner of the property was so welcoming and friendly. The home was beautifully decorated and very well appointed. We loved walking to Daddy's bread every morning and watching the sunset from the top floor every night. Being from the area, I had many friends and family members stop by throughout our stay. The home is open and very spacious. The property was perfect for the kids to play in the yard. Vanilla Bean is right down the street which was great to head to after dinner every night. We will be staying here every time we come up going forward!

Perfect location for a quiet retreat

Beautiful property in Matunuck - nestled in a quiet area, close to the beach. Pretty remote if you're into nightlife (the exception being Ocean Mist), but perfect for nature-lovers and beach-goers. Plenty of room in the house and fully-stocked with kitchen supplies. John was a welcoming host and even hung around to show us the ins-and-outs of the complex lighting system. Awesome that he provided a SK Town Beach pass! Only two bedrooms have AC, so beware. All-in-all a great stay.

The site is private, yet close to everything.... walk to the unstaffed bakery , the famous 'Daddys Bread", where, in season, warm loaves of blueberry and apple bread are baked , please leave your money in the slot, and don't forget to sign the guest book..! Walk down to Moonstone Beach, sit in the sunshine, swim, or collect the famous gem-like stones scattered along the waterline... Walk to the famous 'Theater By The Sea'---a summer stock theater with a long history, where faces like Brando and many others have performed... go everywhere--or just nowhere... Running, walking trails, Trustom Wildlife Refuge and it's trails to ocean views.., biking on flat scenic roads, crabbing (net's provided'), and salt pond kayaking and clamming---it's all outside your door.
