It’s hard to find the right words that adequately compliment the host and the property. Fabulous! Exceptional! The host would never be happy unless you were happy. The stunning views from this property are simply breathtaking. The property and the facilities made available by the host making you feel at home immediately. A great memory.

We (family of 5 adults) spent a week at this fabulous property with a spectacular view over the Duoro Valley.Waiting for us upon our arrival was a nice bottle of wine and chocolates from our generous host.We used Casa Duoro Terrace as our base to visit a winery (Quinta Covela), the town of Amarante and enjoyed an afternoon boat cruise and luncheon from Regua, to mention a few of our activities, in addition to enjoying the fabulous view from the spacious terrace. Easy check-in/check-out processes and our host was very responsive to a couple of queries.We loved it.

Excellent location. Host was very helpful throughout the stay. Spectacular views. Everything you needed was at hand. Especially loved the fire on the cool evenings.

Wonderful place

An amazing place to stay in the Douro. Beautiful place and a great location with views of the Douro . Ideal for relaxing or sightseeing around the area. Would recommend.

João was a marvelous host who was always available. Met us when we arrived and showed us completely around the property. The property met all of our needs/wants. The view from the deck was spectacular!!! We hope we can stay here again and we highly recommend it to everyone!

Beautiful home with an incredible view from the terrace. Well equipped and completely comfortable. Good communication and well situated for taking the train to Porto or other destinations as well as hiking and visiting vineyards.

This is the first time I have stayed at a VRBO and it was better than expected.

Perfect hideaway

The property is superb, everything you need is there, and the view is very special. We took the train to Porto and back, which was great, but were really glad to get back to the space and tranquility of the house. Joao is an excellent host, great communication.

Wonderful famly holiday

Casa Douro Terrace is an excellent location for exploring the Douro Valley. We had a family of 7 adults and we had plenty of room. Joao and Orlanda were very accommodating. We very much enjoyed the Port and cake that were left for us on arrival. I would recommend this property to anyone exploring the Douro!

Beautiful house and view

Or stay was perfect. From the rainbow over the Douro in the morning to the nice sunsets. Made ourselves a little piri-piri chicken in the bbq. Staff from local Mercado were super friendly.

A wonderful location—great scenery— wonderful host — typical mountain roads!! Just don’t be in a hurry!!! Amazing flowers along the road. We would certainly recommend it highly

Amazing home in the Douro Valley

Wow! What a privilege to stay in a one of a kind architecturally amazing home overlooking the Douro River. João, our host, helped us navigate our way to the home and welcomed us with chocolate, wine and kindness.The accommodations lacked nothing. The home was clean, comfortable, beautiful, well-appointed and a view that felt more like a postcard than reality.I would definitely recommend this home, and personally, I look forward to another opportunity to visit.Thank you João for everything!

So so so nice!!

We spent 3 nights and there were 6 of us. The house is so spacious and comfortable. We were several hours late in checking in but Joao was still very welcoming and helped us find the location by guiding us over the phone. He had a special bread for us as well as a great bottle of wine which we enjoyed. The views are amazing from the home and patio. Do not hesitate to book this property, you will not regret it!!

Breathtaking view from terrace and a well-equipped family home

We can only confirm everything that was written here by other guests. It is absolutely worth it going there! We had only three days there in this large house surrounded by nature on our road trip through Portugal and Galicia, but next time, we will try to stay longer, because there is so much to discover there. We can absolutely recommend taking the train ride up the Douro valley to Pinhao or one of the other charming little towns there! Many thanks to Joao for the friendly reception - and the local wine and beer we found in the fridge were very welcome on a hot day!

Great View, awesome home Fabulous, Host great!

The host is great, the place is great home it’s cozy comfortable and well equipped, an awesome view. A spectacular large place with panoramic views from back wrap around patio, high in the hills over the Douro. Beds comfortable AC in each bedroom - Quiet location - only praise. Finding the place is a bit hard at first - a small drive off country like road but well worth that step to be amazed of the place and its view and comfort. Host provided a warm welcome bottle if wine cake for our arrival.

Fabulous property

Absolutely stunning property with incredible views, We spent many hours on the patio relaxing with a stunning view of terraced landscape and the river. Our favorites were the patio and day trips to many stunning nearby towns and villages. My daughter and i enjoyed wineries and the train ride through the douro wine region was breathtaking. You do need a car to get there and be able to get around. The property owner was very helpful with a personal introduction to the house and many tips on how to get around and special places to visit.

Douro Valley escape

Everything was spot on! Only problem was being able to initially find the property as I had difficulty driving and looking at google maps at the same time and not being conversant in Portuguese. Thankfully we were rescued by the owner as there was a main road closed not marked. Afterwards, things were great!

Gem In the Douro

This is a "gem" in the Douro Valley. Peaceful, serene, family orientated house, beautiful and outstanding location. When in the Douro Valley, it is like a vacation on top of a vacation. We enjoyed our stay. The house was great ~ clean, opened, large, great view, fabulous outside deck to sit and enjoy the church bells that ring over the valley while enjoying the outstanding view. Our hosts were more than we could ask for. Accommodating in the utmost respect. Blessed to have found this place and meet our hosts!

In the hearth of the Douro valley

This property has an astonishing view of the Douro Valley and it's near vineyards, without the need to drive for hours to reach them. Also, the air conditioning in each bedroom was very welcome during the heatwaves. João was very kind to show us everything we needed in the house and in the region... do not miss the small vineyard just 5 minutes away with their excellent white and rosé wines! As a side note, this house is located in the mountains, so the parking spot is a bit narrow and only two sides of the house have viable windows... but what a view!

Great place to explore the Douro Valley !!!

Wow the pictures could not capture the views from the decks they were amazing day and night .... the best morning coffee place and a awesome way to start our day ! The house had everything we needed but we didn’t use much... if we were there longer I’m sure we could have made use of more. The place was clean and had lots of towels and bedding. Make sure to leave time to go down the 222 it is an amazing drive Do not miss it !!! It is spectacular. The couple was great and they were easy to get intouch with via text or call. I would recommend this property anytime and would stay again if we were lucky enough to come back!

Paradise in the heart of Douro`

We really enjoyed our week-long stay at João's beautiful home perched on the crest of the hills enveloping a valley with views of lush green forests, vineyards and the Douro river. The home is spacious and well appointed with amenities. The place is a great location to stay if you plan to explore the Douro valley with its many vineyards, wineries and small towns and villages with its igrejas, quintas and miradouros. João took care to give us a walkthrough of his home, a few of his recommendations and then wished us a good stay. His recommendations didn't disappoint. Our stay was comfortable, relaxed and rejuvenating. We will eagerly look for opportunities to come and stay here again.
