I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your stay at our property. The house is an old farmhouse with many original features and, as you mention, has a distinctly rustic character. We continue to modernise parts of the property while intentionally trying to preserve its traditional charm. Many of our guests particularly appreciate this uniqueness, and we try to represent the character and rural location of the property as clearly as possible through our photographs and description. This, together with its location set back from the coast, is also reflected in the rental price. I was surprised by your comment that the garden was unkempt. The walled garden and the area around the swimming pool are professionally maintained twice a month, and the outdoor space is actually something that many previous guests have particularly enjoyed. The walled garden offers several seating areas and natural shade beneath mature trees, and we deliberately maintain an environment where birds and insects can thrive. There is also a large separate pool area with loungers and additional shaded seating, which works particularly well for larger groups. As you mention, you contacted me towards the end of your stay with concerns about the pool water. I immediately contacted our pool maintenance company, who attended the following morning. They checked the pool and confirmed that the water quality was good. They explained that the yellow marking was caused by oil-based sun cream, which can adhere to the pool tiles and can also transfer to swimwear and goggles. Unfortunately, this residue is not easily removed by the filtration system, although it rinses out of clothing. The pool is serviced weekly and, as part of that service, the team cleans the waterline and removes any residue that has accumulated. I appreciate that you disagree with their assessment. However, this company maintains many pools throughout the Algarve and has looked after ours for more than ten years, so I do rely on their professional expertise and advice. I’m sorry that the property did not meet your expectations. The traditional farmhouse style and rural setting will inevitably appeal more to some guests than others, which is why we try to make its character as clear as possible in the listing. We are always grateful for constructive feedback and will continue to maintain and improve the property while preserving the character that so many of our guests enjoy.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and I'm glad you enjoyed the authentic farmhouse details. I am sorry you didn't feel the house was clean when you arrived . Cleaning was done before your arrival but on this occasion it didn't meet the high standard we would like. Thank you also for informing us promptly that you were not happy as this allowed us to arrange for additional cleaning to be done as soon as possible and I'm pleased that you were happy with the results. Depending on the time of day and wind direction you can sometimes hear noise from the nearby road. This hasn't been a major issue for most previous guests but I will update my property description as you suggest. The farmhouse has been in our family for many years, we are updating it and modernising it each year whilst trying to maintain the unique character of the property. We feel the farmhouse whilst different from many Portuguese villas is a beautiful place to spend a holiday and we would love to welcome you and your family back in the future.
