This lodge was lovely and as advertised. A few minor issues arose but the host was very responsive and an excellent communicator. For those who haven’t visited Whidbey Island, one big advantage of this rental is its central location - close to Keystone-Port Townsend ferry, easy to access places south like Greenbank Farm, parks like Ft. Casey and Ft. Ebey, an outdoor sculpture park just a short drive away, or cafes, restaurants and groceries 10-15 min away in Coupeville. As other reviews noted, the US Navy does do training runs directly overhead. There’s an online schedule, subject to change. We arrived on a Friday, jets flew about 300 feet right over the house every 3-5 minutes from about 3pm-4pm, but then were absent the rest of the long weekend. Extremely loud but fun for an hour; glad it wasn’t longer.

We booked the house last minute for an end-of-summer treat with our dogs and kids, and it was exactly what we were looking for. The photos don't do the interior of the house justice; the house is spacious and very comfortable with a massive bathtub in the main bedroom and cozy beds. One reviewer was unhappy with the placement of the pull out couch, but our kids didn't mind, and it gave us a little extra space to spread out. The location is gorgeous. It's very quiet and private, but still an easy drive into town to get groceries or breakfast. Our kids loved taking out the paddleboards and kayaks on the lagoon, and, once they figured out the tides, managed to make it all the way out to the Sound. The house is well stocked with toiletries and kitchen necessities. We even had what we needed to make a spur of the moment fruit crisp with blackberries we picked from the property. This house was such a find. We'd absolutely stay again.

A beautiful home in an idyllic location with a very well-equipped kitchen. The lagoon was nice for small boat adventures with the littles and it was an easy trip to kayak launch points for the adults.

We stayed here for Christmas since our house is too small for guests. It is lovely and they had everything we could need. It was a fantastic place to celebrate.

Multigenerational family trip

We had a fantastic time, grandparents/parents and kids. There was so much to do and so much space to enjoy. The house is beautiful and comfortable, and the yard with lagoon right there is just magical. Could not have asked for a better place to stay for our family gathering. Perfection.

Great House for Families

What a great stay with the family! Plenty of kids toys (trike, power wheels, mini trampoline…) and dishes. Great view and use of paddle boards and canoe. The hot tub is wonderful in the early morning and later in the evenings. Awesome experience in this lovely home.

Absolutely Magical!

We stayed in this beautiful home for three days and our kids didn't want to leave anymore. The house was well thought out and beautifully appointed. The grounds were expansive and well kept. The views of the lagoon and mountains were breathtaking. We canoed every morning and chatted by the fire in the evenings while watching the sun set. What a fantastic vacation. We hope to be back in the future!

Amazing House/Property (even w/ some Hiccups)

First off - WOW! What an awesome house and property/view/setting. Totally as described on the listing - it is spectacular (inside and out). Unfortunately, there were some issues with the house when we arrived (hot water boiler had gone out) which made the first night challenging (no hot water/limited house heat), BUT - very grateful to the owners for quick response to arrange a fix and also was able to reach agreement on reasonable refund. Even with some of these challenges, we enjoyed ourselves immensely celebrating a very special family birthday and would whole-heartedly recommend this location for a friends and/or family event (though just be aware neighbors are strict on trespassing). Thank you again for letting us rent your wonderful home - wonderful family memories made there!

Fabulous property!

The property and views can't be beat. We enjoyed the resident belted kingfishers and blue herons (right in the backyard!), and the bald eagle who visited the peninsula. We used one of the 2 canoes and the paddleboards in the lagoon. The back patio has new very nice furniture including a table that seats 8, and comfortable seating around a propane firepit table. In addition there is a true firepit. The hottub and bbq worked great. The interior looks fairly contemporary in the photos, but it actually feels quite dated and several antiques have been added here and there that are not seen in the pics. Despite this, the furnishings and beds were comfortable, the kitchen was equipped with everything we could possible need (we love to cook and had several meals in), and the house was very clean. Great location near Coupeville.

A wonderful location and pretty house on outside, but not as well set up for guests as you’d hope for price point. The sleeper sofa is not usable (once folded out, it completely blocks the door to one of the bedrooms, essentially locking those folks in and away from a bathroom). House was not thoroughly cleaned or restocked; lots of cobwebs in corners and showers, lots of toiletries empty (as were the propane tanks for grill and gas table outside). Hot tub didn’t work; had to spend an hour on the phone with a tech to fix it myself (host arranged it and paid for it at least). Most windows don’t work (broken frames so won’t stay up or close). Not even a few coffee pods (and island hard to shop on) and single ply TP— just felt a bit unloved.

So sorry to hear you were disappointed! This is obviously not our usual guest opinion or experience. It’s unfortunate that the previous guest changed the hot tub temperature. Your review makes it sound as though we didn’t do everything we could to help to get this fixed. Our usual hot tub guy was off (as we told you) and the back up company we reached out to couldn’t come in person until after your trip. The remote trouble shooting was the only option to get the hot tub temperature turned back up. It’s also unfortunate that the propane was finished during your stay. You did leave out our offer to reimburse you if you’d like to have them filled. We didn’t hear from you on any other issue. If there had been any cleaning issue we would have happily sent our crew back out. They’re typically really great. It also would have been great to know about the windows so we could address them. As for the coffee pods, we don’t provide a Keurig due to waste. But we could do ground coffee and we’ll make that change! The toilet paper is Costco Kirkland brand, pretty standard stuff, and your complaint is the first since buying the property since 2016. Always disappointing to receive such a review, especially not being notified about some of your complaints. Luckily, we know most guests love the property and house as this only our 2nd under 5 star review in 9 years.

Family vacation 2021

12 of us, 7 adults and 5 teens spend a week on the water every year!! This is the nicest home we’ve stayed in. The water toys were used all day, the kitchen was perfect for 3 or more chefs!! Big screen TV was another hit, we all appreciated comfy seating and the extra large dining table. Having 2 table outside worked great using 1 for bbq fixings and 1 to actually eat. Plenty of outdoor seating for several cornhole games… Thank you for sharing your home with us.

We had a wonderful time at the Lagoon House. The house is well done and is fully stocked . The property is beautiful. We saw seals, kingfishers, eagles, hawks and many other birds and small animals while enjoying the views each day.

Fantastic property

Stayed here with my groomsmen for my wedding weekend and it was perfect for us. Beautiful interior and view. Really peaceful. Hot tub, fire pit and huge lawn made it even more special. Would stay here again

Lovely Stay

Beautiful property ! We were lucky enough to be staying at the Lagoon House during the snowstorm, so it was picturesque and extra fun for our boys and our goldendoodle! They all seized the opportunity to romp around the huge yard in the snow! My husband and the boys even went in the hot tub while it was snowing! We also enjoyed a few fires in the fire pit during out stay. The main living space is especially cozy with the all the large windows, gorgeous view and gas fireplace. Many thanks to Andrea for reaching out and communicating with us during our stay and making us feel welcome and accomodated.

Lovely location, very responsive host

We vacationed at this rental property in the middle of August. We have spent many summers on the island and pretty experienced renters. Beautiful views of the lagoon and access to paddle boardS and canoe amenities were great. The kitchen was well stocked and everything very clean. The host was quick to respond to any questions or concerns throughout our stay. We were a bit disappointed to find that there were no bikes to ride as listed in the ad- one of the main reasons we chose this house. There were a few aspects of the house that showed wear and tear, furniture was well used, toilet paper holder upstairs was hanging off the wall, windows were propped open with various items. There was screen missing from an upstairs window- so it could not be opened. Some doors upstairs wouldn’t latch shut. There were several chairs on the patio that were broken when we arrived and a canoe that had a leak. I would also Say that if you’re renting in the summer- don’t expect the lush green grass surrounding the property in the pics. It’s very natural- dead grass and weeds, but still a very pretty view. The patio also looks a lot more worn than in the pics. The planters and pots had been cut down to the soil so it makes it much more bare without the foliage. Lots of empty planter pots. The hot tub was lovely. We also enjoyed the disc golf out back. Remember to bring your own firewood as none is provided- wish we had known that- most rentals we’ve stayed in supply at least enough wood for the first night. Had to make an extra trip for firewood. The axe provided had the head broken off but the wood we bought was already precut so it was fine. The ad does mention occasional noise from the nearby airfield. PLEASE check online for the base’s flight schedule. This house is in a DIRECT flight path. And it’s not just one flight here and there- it’s every 15 minutes for HOURS!!! The planes fly so low, you can read the text/numbers written on their bellies. The first night it was relentless from check-in until 8:30pm. The 3rd night- it was from 4:30-10:30pm!! Earth shattering sound- you can’t hear the person talking next to you. Grown adults having to cover their ears it’s so loud... Sooo please check the schedule- I would try to avoid it at all costs- really put a damper on those particular evenings. Overall we enjoyed ourselves. With a house w high turnover- wear and tear is expected- some things just need a little attention to elevate the experience.

Lovely property, great owners

We had a wonderful time at the house. The interior is beautiful and well appointed. The view is stunning and the yard is amazing for little ones and adults. Direct access to the lagoon and views of the sound and mountains. Best of all the property owner was extremely accommodating when we hit a snag in our ability to come to the property in a timely manner. We also had the gas go out on a Saturday night and she was out calling every company on the island to get us a refill, making it so the disruption was as minimal as possible. Highly recommend this property, and this coming from someone who has vacationed all over Whidbey!

Perfect Whidbey Island Getaway

We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to stay on Whidbey Island. The Lagoon House surpassed all of our expectations. The house is just a quick drive from the Mukilteo ferry landing at Clinton and was easy to find It's situated on a large lot that borders a beautiful little lagoon and is surrounded by beautiful towering pine trees and is also beautifully landscaped. The house was spotless on arrival and beautifully appointed with lots of comfy leather couches, high quality electronics and sound system and cooks kitchen. The house is light and airy with a two story great room with floor to ceiling windows with breathtaking views of the Lagoon and out to the Sound. It is spacious with ample room for our group of 10 to spread out. All of the bedrooms are nicely appointed with comfy beds and quality linens and towels. The kitchen was thoroughly equipped and fantastic to cook in and the outdoor grill/cooking area was a nice bonus. The outdoor space is the best part of the property. A large deck with table , fire pit, plenty of deck chairs and the hot tub all got a thorough workout from us. The large grounds were perfect for spending time outdoors and our dogs were so happy there. We were lucky enough to share the space with deer, rabbits and tons of birds including bald eagles, herons and many others. Sunsets over the sound were spectacular. It's an easy drive to access hiking trails, beautiful beaches, farmers market and the charming little town of Coupeville. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect spot for our getaway. Host was a breeze to work with. A truly five star experience. We would definitely highly recommend this property and hope to stay again in the future.

Excellent Property

Lagoon House property beat all our expectations. Our stay was 4 nights in early Sept. The house was very spacious and had plenty of room for 6 adults. The lawn games and paddle boards on the lagoon were an added plus. The kitchen is fully equipped, laundry room supplied with detergents and cleaning products. The backyard is a beautiful setting on 2+ acres on a lagoon with plenty pine trees. We had a catered brunch for an After Wedding Party on Sunday for 20 family members. With the spacious indoor room and outdoor patio area this property was very comfortable for everyone. The fire pit area with furnished fire wood was much appreciated. It also added an extra nice seating space for guest. We loved every minute of our stay at Lagoon House.

Fantastic Labor Day Weekend

Perfect location, the bay out your backdoor made it really fun for the kids, lots of paddle boarding and canoeing. Comfortable place and well stocked kitchen. Crabbing was fun just watch the tide when leaving the bay. Host was great at getting an issue with the hot tub fixed when it was not heating up. We communicated over text and she was super responsive. Overall great stay highly recommended.

Wonderful getaway with room to roam

What a beautiful, unique home! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially the large yard for the kids to run and play! Thank you for opening up your home to us!

The Lagoon House has fantastic sun exposure and over 2 acres of flat park like grounds to play on and explore. There are few better areas on the Island for bird watching and family enjoyment right on the water.
