Wonderful stay

Great comfort in bedding and pillows. Wi-Fi wouldn’t work but called property manager and they sent someone out to get us up and running.

Enjoyable

Property could use an update. Beach view was beautiful, lot of views were parking lots. Living room TV internet/modem did not work properly entire stay. Maintenance were able to make a temp fix 1/2 way thru our stay. Pools were very nice. Beach was amazing!

Great view! Everything we wanted!

Great view! Neat and clean, location was close to everything we wanted or needed. Beach is absolutely amazing! Unfortunately, Alberto interrupted our plans. Definitely looking forward to returning! Only recommendation would be to allow for earlier check in 2 or 3pm and later check out 11am like hotels and give renter list of items not included ie, salt, pepper, coffee filters, extra toilet paper, and dishwasher soap.

Not the worst, not the best

The property grounds are run down and dirty. The bar area downstairs was gross. Only one elevator was working over the weekend so we waited for over 20 minutes just to get downstairs. The beds in the condo are old spring mattresses and not comfortable and the linens were thin and rough. Overall, it wasn’t the worst I’ve ever stayed in but we won’t be back.

Need a cross walk

The condo was great very clean and very secure and safe. our dishwasher was broken but we were notified of that prior. Unfortunately our sink stopper was broken too which made hand washing dishes harder.. I didn’t feel the description clarified that the condo was not on the beach side. We never saw or used the bus service of which we had bought a family plan for. I believe it would be very beneficial for there to be a cross walk to the beach. The pool was beautiful just as it was advertised . All in all We did enjoy our trip ..

We did some checking and found where we had sent more dish soap and towels so you could wash dishes by hand, but we couldn’t find where you notified us the stopper was broken. We have in our marketing that there is a seasonal shuttle that runs to the beach access by the Back Porch Restaurant. We wish you would have contacted us regarding the shuttle or the front desk at the Palms for information regarding the shuttle. Again, thank you for your feedback.

Expected a little more...

The property was very clean. The air conditioning took at least 12 hours to cool down the kitchen/living room area. The bedrooms never did get really cool, so we had to buy 2 table top fans to keep cool in those rooms. None of the phones worked in the condo. The rooms were smaller than expected. And I killed two of the largest cockroaches I have ever seen in the hallway in front of our room. The kitchen was a good size. The beach shuttle doesn't start running until 11am. I just expected a little more for the amount of money spent.

Worse place I’ve EVER Stayed!!!

Kitchen was not well equipped at specifically the silverware. Couldn’t put in dishwasher because we had to keep washing and reusing-not enough! Beds were comfortable. Baths need updating as does the furniture. My computer screen is larger than the two televisions in the bedrooms. One of the bedrooms you could only change the tv channels while standing on the side of the tv which required you to get out of bed coach is old and dilapidated. The pull out sofa was like a flat set of springs wrapped in a sheet. Can we say terrible! Too many doors and codes to remember. Hated the fact that you had to use elevator in garage then go thru three more doors and thru lobby to get to final door that required a code only to get in elevator Togo to room. Trying unpacking then making a trip to grocery. Not enough carts which also had to be checked out. The pool was nice until it got dark and can I say dark. Not nearly enough lights —if any—around pool. Very unsafe—a perfect place for a child to be abducted as you can’t see them VERY UNSAFE! Stayed there only because it was adjacent to the ballpark but I will drive to the park before I ever stay there again! Not on the beach—which I knew—NOT FOR ME!

We are happy to know that you thought the beds were comfortable and the pool is nice. Although we completely understand your frustration regarding the elevators, carts, codes, and pool lights, we unfortunately have no control over such issues at any property like the Palms of Destin Resort. On Sunday, June 30, 2019, 9:05 PM, cecilie mathews wrote Please see review that we sent to Real Joy Vacation (manament company booked through your site) for our recent stay 6/24-6/28/19 in Destin, Florida. As mentioned below if I was a property owner I would appreciate knowing how my management company was doing. Thank you- Cecilie Smith The complex seemed outdated & didn’t look like the pictures shown online. The pool area & restaurant were the nicest part of our stay. Upon arrival dishwasher broken (we knew about prior to arrival) but Sears tech couldn’t fix, blackout curtain in living broken & never fixed even though we were told it would be (no one showed up to even look at it). A/C in bedrooms didn’t work effectively so we purchased our own fans & we left them there for the next people to use. We spoke with several others who had similar if not worse conditions (ie- broken furniture, no a/c at all, appliances broken also, etc). For the money it was overpriced & not up to par whatsoever. No one was at front desk when we left so we returned keys in the drop box at 8:30am as we were instructed we would be charged a fee if it was after 10am. If I were an owner who owned a condo at this location I would want this feedback from the management company handling my property. This property is not well maintained & needs to be monitored better or you will be loosing business to the many other available properties surrounding Destin. We plan a return trip next year & will be staying elsewhere, not booking your with Real Joy Mgt.

We did some checking and couldn’t find where you had contacted us regarding the A/C but found that a technician came out and repaired the blinds the same day you called. Destin Vacation

The location was perfect, upon arriving all we was told is we can’t get our keys due to third party booking. I asked what does that mean, the check in clerk said we booked through third part, this was at 3:30pm. My husband walked to desk at 4pm and the same person gave him keys! Poor communication, it should have been said that we can’t check in until 4pm! Upon walking in condo it was hot, 79 degrees! With a sign stating not to place a/c below 70. Ok we can handle that, in rooms there was fans that did not work. When night came we realized the two bedrooms was still 78 degrees. They did not cool off. It was miserable to sleep. We kept all curtain closed and it was still hot. The beds was horrible, lumpy. The master bedroom has a flat side. If you didn’t sleep in middle you will roll out. The towels was not soft or even tolerable, hard and scratchy. Black mold on floor near tub, I had to spray it with a disinfectant I had. I have asthma and COPD due to Covid. Not a good thing to be around. Washing machine is hideous, dirty. The agitator has a black ring of dirt. Needs a good cleaning. The facility was nice, needs updating. The marijuana was so strong in elevators and pool area. If your security will focus on drinks in pool you should also filter the marijuana smell especially due to being a family place. No auto doors for the disability. I would not recommend this place to anyone with kids or a disability. Poor services.

On the Run Vacation

I loved the condo and the resort. The only issues I had was with the cable and the ac does not cool well at all especially in the master bedroom. The tv in master bedroom was barely able to change the channels and always had problems with the cable.

Starting to slip a bit

We have stayed at The Palms of Destin several times since they opened. We love the pool area and proximity to everything we enjoy in Destin. However, this trip we noticed that the condo needs some improvements. The AC did not adequately cool the master suite and the fans included in the room did not help with air circulation. The toilet seat in the master bathroom was cracked. Both of these issues were reported to the management company and while they said that someone would address these issues, we never saw anyone from maintenance to address these issues. Overall, we still enjoyed our stay, but we don’t want to see this beautiful property continue to decline.

Great pool

Great pool and location, friendly staff! Buildings and unit could use updating. Unit offered many items to make our stay comfortable. Patio furniture need replacement. Management co. Could communicate better but everything worked out

great place to stay

Great experience, close to anything we wanted to do in Destin. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling with children.

My first NON- 5 star review

As 2 couples who travel together very frequently, we are used to staying in different places. From the moment we opened the door to this rental we were super disappointed. I read the reviews but didnt listen, I should have. While it was not horrible- it wasn’t clean and the furnishings need a major updating! From holes and stains all over the couch (we put sheets over all the furniture just to sit on it) to balls of hair left in the shower and a mattress that slanted to one side and had a huge dent in it. Dirty carpet, even the curtains had some sort of red "something" all over them. Kitchen VERY minimally stocked- We also had to buy toilet paper, paper-towels etc..which we thought was ridiculous. At least have toilet paper for what we paid to stay there! The bedrooms stayed hot as heck at night- no ceiling fans. None (not exaggerating!) of the doors stay open on their own- we had to put something by them to keep them open. The phone didn’t even work- no dial tone! We did complain (something we have NEVER done before) and were offered an excursion. It was nice but it doesn’t make up for a week stay and money paid to be in a place that bad. I will also note- my husband and my friends husband were at the store and me and my girlfriend were at the condo in the bathrooms getting ready.. a man came in and scared the crap out of us! He said he had been knocking. We had the hair dryers going so we didn’t hear him. However, he knew we were in there because he came all the way inside, to outside the bathroom door to talk to us. He was there to look at the things we complained about- which was great but I feel since he knew we were in there- he should have went back outside and maybe come back or something. We were barely even dressed! Just not appropriate. He also never came back to fix a single thing. The only thing I can rate good about this place was the pool. It was beautiful. Ive stayed in places all over from VRBO and never rated under 5 stars. Im not one to complain- ever! However, this really upset us and I feel the stuff above needs to be addressed.

Hi Michelle, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. First, we're sorry you were disappointed. The carpet was actually steam cleaned right before your visit. As to condition of the sofa, an inspector noted that some buttons needed to be sewn on and took care of it-nothing else was noted, and we just priced out new sheer curtains to the owner because a guest did mess those up. The list of frequently asked questions that you are provided when you book (it's at the bottom of the rental agreement) tells you what to expect on your trip. We provide starters of toilet paper and paper towels. We don't advertise any working phones in the condo, perhaps those just haven't been removed. Most people don't pay for landline service anymore. We show that you contacted us about a bed being on a slant and a shower leaking water - there was no mention of a cleaning issue which we could have taken care of for you. Our inspector found that someone was taking a shower with the shower curtain outside of it-that's why it was leaking and the bed was just pushed slightly off the frame, so he just gave it a nudge and it was fine. We offered you free passes to do an excursion due to your disappointment in the shower/bed and don't show that we were told of anything else. Again, we're sorry that you were disappointed. This is not a typical guest experience.

Condo was great

We enjoyed the Palms @ Destin. Even though it rained a lot. However, I am disappointed in all the extra fees that were charged. Everyone has a piece of the pie. Heck I was even charged insurance for property.

Really enjoyed the stay the room was very clean and neat.

The impression of the property was nice also very well maintained and I recommend this place we will definitely consider on our next trip to Destin,Fl. Thanks again to RealJoy for all your help not sure we could have done it without the help from them.
