Amazing stay !

we loved everything: - the historic building - the very comfortable apartment with a great view of Loch Ness - the swimming pool - the surrounding area with beautiful walks and good restaurants (even in November)

Both properties have been decorated to an exceptional standard with amazing views over Loch Ness and the added benefit of west facing views over the mountains. Both 9 & 14 The Monastery work well if rented together for larger groups.

Truly a special place

Such a beautiful spot! We so enjoyed ourselves in the Highlands. Struan could not have been a better apartment to relax in and enjoy the views of the Abbey and Lochness. The apartment is very nice and equipped with all you need. Fort Augustus is a charming town as well. Truly a special place

Amazing

The property was everything we expected from the reviews and more . Incredible views from the bay window spotlessly clean extra comfy beds. We all loved it and didn’t want to leave. The amenities were also great the pool was lovely and very well managed as per how many people were there at once. Wouldn’t hesitate to return here

Oct Trip

Great location, apartment was good size for 4 of us. Finished to high standard. Couple of little issues, toilet cistern broken in bathroom and staff tried to remedy but couldn’t replace so out of use. TV needs upgraded to Fire/Netflix option as wifi good. Fire safety doors difficult for kids so more door stops required. Would stay again next year or Xmas.

Stunning location

The apartment is located in a most beautifully converted monastery, with stunning views over Loch Ness from the open plan living/dining/kitchen area. The master bedroom was a good size with a very well appointed bathroom and everything was spotlessly clean. The swimming pool/sauna/steam room were also very nicely appointed and just a short walk through the cloisters from our apartment, with bath robes provided in our room. Sadly, the oven didn't work properly and despite several phone calls and a visit from an electrician, the fault was never properly resolved during our stay. Since this is a premium self-catering apartment, we felt that this detracted from what was otherwise a lovely place to stay.

Dear Mr Knock, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. As discussed the oven issue has now been resolved. Unfortunately it was more complicated than was initially thought as it was necessary to order a new timer part. The apartment had a fully functioning hob and microwave and Abbey Management services offered the use of another cooker. This is a rare and unfortunate situation and the management team give their sincere apologies for any inconvenience experienced.

Beautiful unique apartment

We spent 6 nights at this apartment and have had a wonderful time. The apartment is very spacious and well equipt. Lots of towels left for us to use and tea/coffee, milk and cleaning products which was very helpful. The grounds of the Highland Club provide plenty of activities and are well maintained. We made use of the tennis court - rackets were provided in the room and we also used the pool too. The location is fantastic for exploring the Highlands and although we did quite a bit of driving, it was lovely to be able to walk into Fort Augustus and explore the local shops and cafes. Being such a short walk from the supermarket too is ideal if self catering. We took an evening boat cruise of Loch Ness which can be picked up next to the Highland Club. The boat cruise exceeded our expectations and was highly entertaining. We also hired bikes from the shop in the village which was excellent value and a nice way to explore locally. I would whole heartedly recommend this apartment for anyone wishing to visit. My only negatives were the shower didn't drain very well so may need looking at but otherwise this place was perfect.

You have been extremely helpful in pointing out the convenient location of The Highland Club in relation to shops and facilities. The Loch Ness cruise is a real gem and a great activity for all the family however, for the adrenalin seekers there is also the option of a rib ride. Struan is a great choice for fantastic views over Loch Ness, it is also worth mentioning that Fraser apartment is one floor above and works very well in combination with Struan for larger groups. The apartment was very spacious and very comfortable. It had everything needed for a comfortable stay - except the advertised 'full SKY package'. This was a minor irritation and overall we would very much recommend this apartment.

Beautiful location

This was a beautiful apartment in a beautiful location with a fantastic view of Loch Ness and the mountains beyond. We had a lovely week and would definitely recommend. Struan was a good size and fully equipped for a family. Warm and comfortable. The main bedroom can be double or singles and the second bedroom only double. Worth noting if you are going with children. Our teenage children had the main bedroom with en-suite and TV and we got the second much smaller bedroom! There are no significant negatives but just a couple of things to note to the owner. There are a few large marks on the carpet in the living area which were very noticeable. I assume they are stains and the carpet has been cleaned. There is no fan in the main bathroom. Limited wardrobe space in the second bedroom although no room for more. The pool area was lovely but small. Good idea to limit to only 16 (although that seems a lot for the pool size), but closing at 6pm is too early. If you are out exploring all day you are rarely back in time to use these facilities hence we only got to use them 3 times during our week by booking to use during the day.

Part of the charm of many of the apartments is the design has been incorporated into the old building which is charming however, this does pose compromises. In Struan apartment the two bedrooms are both doubles neither are by any means small however, the master is larger. The owners wanted to offer flexibility to their guests and therefore added ziplock beds to the master bedroom. This does mean that if a twin arrangement is required then it needs to be in the bigger room, sorry. If this is an issue the same twin arrangement is offered in Fraser apartment where both the bedrooms in this property are a similar size and therefore the paying guests get to keep the master ensuite. The beauty of all the properties is that there are no two the same, most of the properties displayed on the Highland Club Direct website have many original features, and unique features from the Abbey. Moving on to the comment regarding storage in the second smaller bedroom. The owner has provided a single wardrobe which appears to be adequate for holiday needs. Thank you for pointing out the stains on the carpet, we have instructed the management team to attend to these immediately. I will raise your comment regarding the pool opening times at our next meeting. Staff permitting we will try and extend these. Your comments have been extremely constructive and helpful. A magical holiday in a converted monastery overlooking Loch Ness

I cannot imagine a more magical location. Driving into the grounds of the old Abbey took our breath away. The gardens, the tree lined drive, the Abbey itself, the views of Loch Ness, the quick path to town.....WOW!!! Then we entered our flat (Straun) and we were welcomed home. The suite had beautiful furnishings, tall ceilings, old architectural details and a modern kitchen and bath rooms. This made our stay perfect. We could not have picked a better place to stay in Scotland to explore the highlands!

Lovely accommodation

Apartment was beautiful, clean and very well stocked with everything we needed. Customer service was great all the way through the booking and arrival process and we would definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone looking for accommodation in fort Augustus.

Lovely Place

We had a lovely stay in Struan, we did have one problem but it was quickly rectified Would definitely go again

Stunning Struan

The Abbey development has the most perfect setting on the shores of Loch Ness, and the 'Struan' apartment has one of the most beautiful views in the building. 'Struan' is unreservedly Scottish - with antler light fittings and tartan in abundance! The bathrooms are modern with quality suites, and the apartment was cosy, warm and comfortable. The facilities available in the Abbey all added to the general enjoyment of our Scottish break.

Both the location within the Abbey and the high specification of Struan apartment make this an exceptional property. Deservedly this property is often booked well in advance as the owners are extremely pro-active in maintaining their apartments and have invested both time and effort in maintaining high standards. Built in 1876, The Benedictine Abbey that's now home to The Highland Club is one of the oldest buildings in Fort Augustus and one of the most stunning buildings around Loch Ness. For many years, Benedictine Monks ran the Abbey as a school. There are many recorded sightings of the Loch Ness Monster by the Monks over the years whilst they stayed there.
