The house itself is quite basic. The kitchen could use a makeover, although some guests might describe it as charming and authentic. During our stay, temperatures were extremely high, so we really missed having air conditioning. On the other hand, because the house is located more than halfway up the hill, it usually cools down nicely at night—at least when there isn't a heatwave. To keep the house cool, you'll want to open the windows and shutters during the evening, at night, or early in the morning. However, since there are no mosquito screens, quite a few mosquitoes can find their way inside. The location is excellent for exploring Tuscany. Most of the region's highlights can be reached within about an hour by car. During our stay, we visited Florence, Siena, Volterra and San Gimignano, all as easy day trips. One place we would especially recommend is the Sentierelsa in Colle di Val d'Elsa, a beautiful walk along the Elsa River. That said, the rather basic interior is more than compensated for by everything the property has to offer outdoors—which is, after all, what a Tuscan holiday is all about. There's a large garden, complete peace and quiet, a wonderful 11 5 m swimming pool, and absolutely breathtaking views over the rolling Tuscan hills. All in all, we would definitely recommend this place!
