Second time we’ve used this place, it’s so nice and ideally located (even with the hill walk back up) to enjoy Looe and surrounding area. The garden and outdoor spaces are secure and very dog friendly, without worry of them getting out. Thank you for having us again and hopefully we’ll be back in 2027.

Wonderful

Comfy, immaculate in presentation, facilities, and content, attentive host, ideal location, fab bed, tiered well tended gardens, our dog loved it too as did we. Stupendous, we want to come back.

Looe Cottage

We had a lovely stay at this cottage in Looe, It was in a good location for the town and it's shops and restaurants. The walk up the hill is not for the faint hearted but that's Looe! Our favourite restaurant was Juju's, dog friendly and delicious tapas. Madeleine was very helpful and a good host.

Very good location in a fishing Town by the sea. Dog-lovers only!

We enjoyed the beautiful cottage and the surroundings were marvellous!The House was comfortable and really dog-friendly. Nice bedrooms and bathrooms. The House and kitchen were fine but partly underequipped for five people (e.g. number of towels, size of pots). Nice garden on several levels.

Information provided was excellent: check-in & out, use of facilities, location and places to visit.The Host was very responsive and helpful.The house is attractive with lots of space, a separate dining room and living room and a well stocked kitchen with utensils, plus tea, coffee, biscuits and even dog treats. There was also a lovely human welcome of scones, jam and cream and a fab doggy welcome bag with a toy, bandana and treats.Sited half way up a steep hill, it only took me (68 yrs old with a slightly dodgy back) 5 minutes to walk up or down and then you're in the heart of Looe. You can walk to East Looe for the doggy beach or Hannafore Point.The views from the tiered back garden are fantastic; you can see Looe bay and the sea and out of the windows there are trees and plants everywhere. At night, light pollution is low, the stars shine bright and you can even see the milky way.The parking was fine for my car, which is not small, although you have to be careful entering and exiting. The street is very quiet though.From the house you can drive to lots of dog-friendly places, beaches and National Trust (NT) such as Lanhydrock, most seem to be within 20 mins. Note: if you go to the gorgeous Lansallos beach it is very quiet. There is an NT carpark at the top but the walk back up the footpath is VERY steep!Overall, me and my dog had a wonderful time as we were also lucky enough to be blessed with warm, sunny weather - great for October. STUNNING

The property is truly beautiful and in a great location for exploring, the hill up to the property could be a little challenging for some but taking it slow and steady is very doable. Everything about the place exceeded all our expectations and so dog friendly that it felt like home within a few hours of settling in.It was so clean and i couldn't recommend enough, definitely returning next year. A MASSIVE thank you

Lovely Looe cottage

Had a lovely stay at Nancecliff cottage in Looe, the cottage was a home from home, very clean and had everything that you could want. The beds and mattresses were amazing and we had a great night sleep. Cottage is in a great location and has some great views. Owner Madeleine was fantastic and promp in answering emails and provided us with a wealth of information on the local area. Would highly recommend and would book again. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us.

Summer 5 day break

A really lovely property with great views down to the town and sea. The owner Madeleine was a pleasure to deal with both before and during our visit. The house was immaculate and was just like the pictures on the site. A nice touch was the welcome pack for us and our dog - cream tea for us and pawsecco for the dog. The only downside is the walk up to the property from the town, its not too far but could be a slog for those with walking disabilities, however we knew this when we booked so was not an issue. All in all a wonderful place to visit Looe, which is also a very lovely place.

2 Dogs on Holiday

Beautiful views. Pleasantly quiet. The garden is lovely to have, but definately needs more fencing to feel the dogs are safe. More comfortable chairs are needed in the lounge. The beds were very comfortable. We couldn't find the recycling bins. None of this however ruined our stay in any way and the dogs needs and treats were very well catered for. We would stay again. Thank you

Perfection

We enjoyed a lovely weekend at nancecliff. The host is so great,we had cake to greet us after a long drive and a beautiful pack of treats for our dog. The house is stunning,the garden is stunning. It felt very homely. Nice fresh clean beds comfy mattress. Clean bathroom/shower a gorgeous well equipped kitchen. This was topped off by the host being more than dog friendly,our dog enjoyed a luxury break in a stunning setting he had a big box of toys to play with and blankets to lie on. There is even an indoor dog shower! Really really enjoyed our stay. Many thanks we hope to visit again!

A lovely cottage

We are a family of four with two teenagers and a small dog who all very much enjoyed our stay at Nancecliff Cottage. The house is nicely decorated and has a well-equipped kitchen. The views from the deck are lovely. There are plenty of good shops and places to eat nearby as well as lots of beautiful beaches to explore - many are dog-friendly. Unfortunately, the garden has quite a few escape routes so our dog wasn't able to potter around independently - hence four stars rather than five. Overall though, a very pleasant place to stay. Thank you.

I'm glad to hear you and your family enjoyed the house and your time here and very sorry that you experienced issues with the fencing. I wasn't aware you were bringing your dog - as both gardens are large and multi-tiered we do have options to fence off sections of either or both gardens, particularly if you have a particularly small or large dog. And we would have left you a doggy welcome pack that we leave for all our doggy guests!!!We do advertise as dog friendly with a relaxed, non-stuffy policy to where your dog can and can't go, but this isn't meant to imply we have a kennel setup with a secure facility. That said, we want to improve and are keen on hearing your suggestions and valuable feedback and are already working to improve the fencing. Thank you. Madeleine

Sept stay

The property is full of character but was not as clean as i thought it would be. The garden was not as dog friendly as overgrown shrubs and long grass and could not see if a fence was dividing the property to next door. Stairs were very slippy in the garden. I think the garden could do with a bit more TLC. The hosts sadly only communicated once but never came back to me with suggestions of where to visit.

Pre Christmas break

We have thoroughly enjoyed our pre Christmas break at Nancecliff and the location couldn’t have been more perfect for us in terms of wanting to walk and not use the car. The parking was a bonus and made it easy for unloading and loading the car. The place was clean and smelt fresh when we arrived with plenty of facilities, towels, etc to use. Dog shower is very handy and the dog treats and human treats were appreciated after a long drive. The only down fall would be that we had to keep our dog on the lead when letting him out as the garden didn’t feel very dog safe/friendly. We were advised that there was 6ft fencing which I guess is a possibility as it’s on a slope however with our dog being a big boy he could’ve easily jumped over these, as there’s no back gate to break off the front of the property he could’ve easily gone down to the bottom gate and jumped over onto the road too. However, we understand that with bigger fences you wouldn’t get the view you get!! Having to use a lead in the garden is a small price to pay for the amazing view you get. Would happily stay here again. Thank you for your beautiful hosting and accommodation!

Super sfeervol huis

Afgelopen week genoten in Nancecliff! Mooi uitzicht vanuit de tuin op dorp en zee, heel sfeervol ingericht, heel leuk in “zee-thema”. De bedden waren wat te zacht voor onze ruggen, maar verder is het huis heel comfortabel. En een geweldig welkom en verblijf voor onze hond (oudduitse herder). In heel het dorp en omgeving is het ongelooflijk hondvriendelijk. Prima uitvalsbasis om het prachtige Cornwall te verkennen.

Cannot recommend enough

Absolutely amazing location. The property was clean and equipped with everything that we needed. Our little dog was well catered for and spoilt rotten with treats and toys. The communication with Madeleine was excellent (she even went out of her way to help us in 2021!). Would love to come back again soon. ABSOLUTELY LOVED EVERY MINUTE!!!! Thank you 😎

Lovely location & house.

Really enjoyed our long weekend. Although bedroom 3 is described on this site as a twin/single. It is a very small single room & only really suitable for one child & not the 6ft man who we had to squeeze into it. The lounge could benefit from some more relaxed sofas to accommodate 5 people. Lovely welcome from the host. Great communication. We had a really lovely time.

Lovely stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at Nancecliff! The welcome pack for us two and for Ben and Sam was greatly appreciated. Location is excellent, less than 5 minutes to West Looe and 10 to East Looe- loads of restaurants amd shops on your doorstep! House is lovely, fantastic bedrooms, would have loved a working fireplace /logburner but was warm in the evenings. Garden is lovely even though we were there in wet weather. Sam and Ben the dogs loved it! We recommend the place!

Time to spend some TLC on the basics at Nancecliff (no more gadgets needed)!

Like everyone post CV-19 pandemic we were SO looking forward to our holiday. A bit of 5 star luxury for >£1k for a week I thought with photos and 5-star reviews. With regret, we were to be disappointed. It might seem like an long-ish account but I want to be fair to the host yet true to reality. YES it is a lovely location, off street parking a plus (beware of nettles), and Madeleine’s communication and pre-arrival info was great. But you don’t chose a holiday for the host (unless maybe it’s a BnB) and +twice daily comms for the first 4 days of the hols (due to leaking shower - asked to use DOG shower with cobwebs and spiders… - pendant lights stopped working downstairs) isn’t exactly what I’d anticipated/found relaxing! Whilst the nautical decor is lovely it is more up-cycle than high end. And the images of house were clearly taken a few years back (holiday let was bought in 2017) and not up to date for 2021 (no cushions on rattan outdoor furniture - uncomfortable - washing line (?) with now tatty flags outside back door). Time to spend some TLC on Nancecliff! Especially as more time is spent at the property due to CV-19 (eating out was almost impossible). Give it a deep clean (I personally had to clean fridge, glassware and plates on arrival), spend on extra kitchen glassware (1 glass each isn’t sufficient) crockery and utensils (sharp knives for cutting and a can opener which works). Make the store cupboard more generous (no oil?). And be clear that you provide only one loo roll per toilet (thank you for the extra ones). This is clearly a holiday let, so treat it as a business, don’t take it personally, and spend some of the profits. Some larger and more luxurious towels and a new mattress for 2 of the bedrooms would be a good investment. Yes, it’s admirable you donate to animal charities but think about the environment too (feel guilty about putting 1/4 full dishwasher on).

Lovely cottage with pretty views from the garden

We stayed at Nancecliffe for 5 nights at the end of July. The cottage was perfect for us, a family of 4 with our little dog Benji. The cottage was really well equipped and very clean. The lovely little treats for the dog were a nice surprise. The garden is up a steep hill but with lovely views. Madelaine, the host was very helpful and the communication was great from booking to our departure. The only way that it could be improved is with slightly more comfortable seating in the lounge, but we'd definitely return to Nancecliffe if we were to stay in the area for a break in the future.
