Great location, great stay, had everytbing you needed within a 5 minute walk and 1 minute drive. Clean, the hosts were friendly and accomadating! Will stay again!

Pet friendly, close to amenities.

Handy pet friendly, close to Tamworth and shops. Cosy and comfortably. Smallish kitchen but adequate. Hosts were friendly and responsive.

Manilla Cottage has 1 bathroom, there is also a 2nd toilet. Which is very handy when you have larger groups.

Very nice

Beds are comfy, house nice and cool outside area nice and shady, needs a new stove and a bigger refrigerator, otherwise nice home love it.

Cosy and Excellent for Families

At first, I was surprised and not happyas the lawn was very long and looked like it had no TLC done to it for a while. Hoping the inside of the house was going to be better. I was impressed that it was, cosy, had a family feel, clean and excellent. We had a few little problems like the hot water ran out on our last night and we contacted David and immediately they fixed it. Same as the lawn too. It was mowed the next morning. It took the mowers over 3 hours to mow because it was just too long. Overall YES I would definitely go back. It's a very cosy,excellent family accommodation.

Thanks Kalo for feedback. Manilla gets very little rain but Manilla had lots of rain, with Spring and sun the grass growth went crazy. We always listen to guests, return phone calls and respond to what is required to make guests have pleasant stay. Just be mindful with large groups to take short showers. Hot water checked next day and it was OK. Manilla has a lot to offer along with surrounding towns.

Pleasant stay

The cottage is older style but well equipped and comfortable, great location in town, easy walking distance to shops, pubs and cafes. We were able to take our dog which was great, there is a fenced yard

Thanks Pam for review of our Aussie Chillout at Manilla Cottage - Manilla NSW. We are an older style cottage. In last year we have got new fridge, stove / oven, lounge and bunk bed. Easy 10 minute walk to CBD and river just down the road. We are pet friendly.

Just as advertised

While in town for an event at Mt. Bora we stayed for a week at the Harris' place. It was clean and well appointed and best of all close to downtown and near the mountain. I would suggest adding a few more small waste bins in the bathrooms etc.

Manilla Cottage is a 5 minute walk from town. It is also about a 20-30 minute drive to mountains and lakes. Beautiful areas for sightseeing.

Manilla is near Tamworth NSW, it is a small country town. It has around 2,000 residents. So if you like to get away from it all it is a great location. But Tamworth is a half hour drive away, it is a large town that has everything as far as shops goes.

Weekend Stay

Cottage is quirky and has potential to be excellent as a holiday letting. The bedding was adequate, however, I think pillows need to be replaced. Thankfully, I did bring our own. I believe the owners are making improvements over time which will be good. The stove was not clean and the saucepans I did not even attempt to use. They were greasy and the Teflon coating was coming off all of them. I am not trying to be picky but when you stay somewhere, it has to meet basic needs in being able to cook etc. The place, including the bathroom needed a good scrub. Lovely location and will be nice if things improve.

We really appreciate feedback and taken on board guest reviews. We have made a hard decision and taken on new care takers for Manilla Cottage: Jess and Adam on Wednesday, 31st May 2017. From 1-5 June 2017 they thoroughly cleaned house inside and out as well as do yard. The thing I like is that they treat it as their own house. See specific cleaning comments in 1 May 2017 guest review. Addressed pillows with new pillow protectors. Stove has been cleaned. Bought new cookware and electric frypan. Threw out old ones that teflon coating was coming off. Also got new sandwich press, 4 slice toaster and jug on 31.05.17. Whole place has had thorough clean like a permanent rental changeover.

Needs a thorough clean.

We have stayed in many different qualities of accommodation during a year travelling but we thought this place was pretty poor. In fairness the kitchen appliances, surfaces, etc were clean but the plates, cutlery and pots and pans, etc were greasy and needed a good wash before they could be used. The mice were back and very cheeky, running along the sofa and even burrowing under our backsides while we were sat on it! we moved the sofa to dislodge them and found waste under it. There was stuff under the bed (including something that looked like a surgical plaster - We took a picture). The windows, blinds and fans were dirty. We had a dirty glass in the bathroom (for toothbrushes?) and there were bits of old soap from previous occupants. We also noticed that all the things used in the photos to make the place look nice: pictures on the walls, bowls and vases for decoration, etc., had all gone. The wifi and TV, etc., worked fine. It seems a shame because a good scrub and it would be a perfectly OK but I agree with a previous reviewer that it needs a thorough clean before it's fit to rent out.

Thoroughly agree with comments above and must apologise. We live in the Hunter Valley about a 3.5 hour drive to Manilla Cottage. We trusted our previous cleaner to manage, keep an eye out and clean our property thoroughly. After refunds, pest control, cleaning issues, bad guest reviews and chances to improve cleaning, we had to make a tough decision and get new care takers: Jess and Adam. They have thoroughly cleaned the place from 1-5 June 2017 and addressed all the issues raised in guest reviews on 01.05.17 and 22.05.17. As owners we are going to visit and improve the property each visit. We do have an older style kitchen so when the budget enables it will be upgraded to a modern kitchen with a modern stove / oven. Difficult to give timeframe. IT IS READY TO RENT OUT AGAIN!

Great little home away from home!

7 of us were accommodated in the Manilla home! We didn't need the caravan and found everything we needed in the kitchen and throughout the home itself. Great location, nice and close to cafe and IGA to walk to. Older home but clean. We are all keen to stay again next visit! Thank you!!

The caravan is a bonus in the back yard and acts like 3rd bedroom. About 5-10 minute walk to Manilla CBD, RSL and Bowls Club, Bean Away Cafe and Petrol Station. Fully equipped kitchen.

Needs some TLC

Unfortunately the stay was short lived. We had booked in for 6 days but due to rodent and bug issues and a general lack of cleanliness in Manilla Cottage we had no choice but to cut our stay. 2 of our party had to sleep in the car due to mice running about in our food. We did speak to the owner and asked for him to try and resolve but when the cleaners arrived they stated that they had done a thorough clean, which was suprising considering spiders in the shower, mouse droppings in the house. Owner advised he had sprayed the property but only a few days earlier. David did try and resolve the issue and we do appreciate that but it did ruin our holiday somewhat. He did provide a full refund but as the festival was on we were not able to get accomodation in the area and we had to make alternate plans for the holiday as to not disappoint the children any further. Manilla cottage does not look like the pictures and really needs some time and effort put in to bring it up to a reasonable standard to let out.

We did get pest control done in January 2017 so rodent and bug issues have been fixed. We have had words with the cleaner and a thorough spring clean has been done since. We have had a few bookings since and they have been happy with their stay. We provided a full refund of $1,320. Manilla Cottage is a cottage which is comfortable. The photos do reflect the cottage. Later in 2017 we will do a living area upgrade with new kitchen.

Suited our needs!!

It was lovely to visit relatives and have our own space to return to. The beds were comfortable and it was nice not to share the space with others. There were some issues with little rodent visitors but the owners responded promptly and sent in the exterminators. Overall a positive experience.

Manilla Cottage needed some TLC. So arranged for cleaner to spring clean, handyman to do a few jobs and pest control being done on Wednesday, 18th January 2017. Got plans in 2017 to paint, put up new blinds and do a new kitchen and accessories. Looking forward to coming 3 weeks with guests coming for Tamworth Country Music Festival and Paragliding and Mount Borah.

Understanding Owners

Our recent planned trip to Manilla Cottage wasn’t to be, with our family car breaking down on the other side of Tamworth. David and Hillary were excellent to work with, and very understanding of our situation, offering us a 50% refund plus a further discount off of our next trip. Though we didn’t get to experience the quality of the house, we did get to experience the quality of the owners. Very pleasing.

Thank you regarding your experience with us as owners and our empathy for your situation. Guests need to read terms and conditions. Even though guests informed us day after they were meant to arrive and thus forfeit 100% of holiday rental due to terms and conditions. We refunded them 50% and gave them a rain check of the other 50% as they plan to visit the area annually with sporting competitions. In the past we have waived terms and conditions in favour of the guests at our other holiday rental accommodation due to fires and family matters.

Comfortable and relaxing

Stay in Manilla was very quiet and house lovely & warm considering we stayed in winter. Everything in house that you require. The ceiling fans and walls a little dusty but overall very clean & comfortable. Will go back again

Feedback taken on board Janice. Informed cleaner about dust and to be more diligent. We have a new DAIKIN inverter s/s a/c for heating and cooling the entire living area to replace the old worn wall units. They are more efficient and works great for the comfort of guests.

Excellent

We love this great place, and we will definately go back and stay in the same house in the future. Very nice and clean, plenty of room and has everything you need and as stated in the ad. Nice 2 bed caravan we didn't get to use as the house was just big enough for me and my wife and 7 kids. Nice warm gas heater even though it was -5 degrees outside. Manilla is also a nice friendly little town which gives us the real country feeling we have never experienced before. We travelled daily to Tamworth everymorning with no Sydney like traffic and took us only 25min each way but for the price I wouldn't have it any other way. It was all worth it. If you are from a busy city like Sydney, where there are millions of people. Going to a little country town like Manilla would be very different. Manilla has a population of 2,550 people. Country people are very relaxed and friendly. They are not in a rush to get anywhere, there aren't even any traffic lights in Manilla. If you find Manilla too quiet for your liking then Tamworth is less than a 30 minute drive. The road is fairly straight and not a lot of traffic on the road. Although sometimes there might be cattle grazing along the side of the road!

Nice and comfy cottage

A small modest older style home/cottage. For an old building it is neat, tidy and well presented. located in a beautiful quiet little town. It accommodated six of us very comfortably and an affordable price, would definitely rebook if ever up that way.

In the warm weather if you are looking for somewhere with water, there is Warrabah National Park, which has great swimming holes. Spit Rock Dam and Lake Keepit are also very close to Manilla.

Well worth it.

Overall we thought this was a great place to stay in manila. We were a bunch of paragliding pilots with some non flyers as well so it made sense not to stay at the flying site for us. the property is well maintained and has everything that we needed to have a relaxing and comfortable stay. The caravan outside is really awesome, as is the location - a 3 minute walk into the town. its really handy. I will stay here next time we are over.

Having the caravan in the back yard is handy for large groups. It can be used as a 3rd bedroom. You can have your teenagers out there so it acts as a second living area. It has 2 single beds, TV, small fridge, dining table with 2 small built in couches.

Just perfect

We had a great time! Its so easily located and we love the scenery. Had everything we needed! Bit hectic with 5 kids but was great and well worth being out of the hustle n bustle of Tamworth

Rain has brought green to the country side. Nice scenery. Big front and back yard for kids and pets to play and run around. Manilla is a great alternative to staying in Tamworth. Only 45 km and 30 minute drive.

Cosy well equipped clean welcoming cottage

We were going to Tamworth Country Music Festival and finding accomodation for 6 wasn't easy. This was perfect 30 min drive in to Tamworth away from the buzz. Lively cottage big kitchen well equipped 2 toilets necessary with 6 staying air conditioned perfect we would return in a heart beat it was perfect

Trying to find accommodation near Tamworth in January isn't easy. As Tamworth holds the Country Music Festival every year. Motels and caravan parks get booked out early. The benefit of staying at Manilla Cottage is that it is a house, so there is space for family and friends. In the evenings you can have a BBQ and relax under the covered back verandah and unwind.
