Perfect getaway

We had a marvellous stay in this large airy, well equipped home. It is situated close to CBD and The Strand for the best choice of fabulous places to eat and drink. It is secure and in a lovely quiet neighbourhood. Communication was efficient and supportive. Would definitely recommend for family and friends getaway.

Nice memories

We had a wonderful time catching up with old friends and the house was perfect for spending time together. We used to live in North Ward so it was great being back in our old stomping ground again. A fantastic location in Townsville.

The house was lovely and in a convenient location

The house was great . We did find that with the personal food still left in the cupboards and fridge we were invaded the owners personal space. The same with the bathrooms as well. We think if you are going to rent the personal products must be seperate and locked away. The deck area out the back was gorgeous we ate out there all the time. It would be nice to see in one of the rooms either a couple of single beds or bunk beds to cater for children/ teenagers. But overall the house is lovely and in a great location for what we wanted to do in Townsville

Thank you for your review Ksren. Very happy you liked the house and found it was in a good location. I think there was a bit of a mis understanding. The house is completely set up for guests all items in the house are there specifically for guests use. The items in the bathroom are there for guests convenience eg- soaps, shampoos and conditioner etc. I have not lived in the house for over a year now. All the items in the pantry are all for guests convenience also and guests can use all items at their leisure. Sorry for any misunderstanding. Kind regards, Steve

Fantastic Location and Lovely House

Our overall stay was good. The house and location were great. Fantastic secure yard for our two dogs and in a close location for the Strand. The dogs loved being able to sleep on the upstairs balcony at night.Unfortunately the house was not clean or tidy for our stay and this put a damper on the whole holiday. When we arrived I had to vacuum the whole house because otherwise you felt like you needed to wear shoes inside. There was dog hair on the couch and cushions, the inside entry was covered in cob webs and spiders. The showers had not been cleaned properly and there was mould/mildew everywhere. The yard had dog poo scattered throughout the yard, there’s no actual grass in the yard, it’s just mowed weeds. There were cigarette butts left behind in a container from previous occupants. I advised the rental team and they let us know it would be rectified before the next occupants on 27 December, hopefully it is. There was no offer for things to be fixed for our 4 night stay though.

Spa not working and host hard to reach

Nice house, clean. But in the advertisement there was a spa, a ping pong table and a fussball table that made us choose the house and the higher price. The spa did not work, the ping pong rackets and balls were broken and the fussball table was simply not there. We tried to call and message the host but first he didn’t reply and then he did nothing to try to help us or fix these issues. We asked for a reduced price since we didn’t get what was promised in the advertisement which was just brushed off. Also, he gave us the wrong code to the door which made the check in difficult, also that time he didn’t answer his phone. If you book this house, don’t count on the spa or any help from the host. Having said that, the house itself is lovely but in my eyes not worth the price without the spa and games.

Very poorly presented

The house was nice, but not clean. I had to look under the couch to retrieve a toy and it was totally filthy. This was visible when coming up from the downstairs area too. By itself, this would not have been an issue, however it got us looking at other areas and just noticing more and more. Every surface was either covered in dust or had been wiped with a dirty cloth. There were old food scraps and dirt and dust in the kitchen utensil drawers, and the canopy filters were dripping old oil into the food cooking on the cooktop. Also there weren't many kitchen utensils to use, and what there was was most broken. To the extent that the tongs had to be used like chopsticks! My partner found an old sewing needle in the carpet as it stuck into her foot. Next, there was no gas for the BBQ, and when the refill was delivered, it was dropped over the fence, and left for us to take upstairs and fit to the BBQ. Finally when we managed to have a BBQ, we noticed the hornets that had burrowed into the outdoor table and started to swarm when we sat down to eat. Lastly, the lawns weren't mowed when we arrived, and were done a day before we left, leaving the kids no outdoor area to play in until the last day. While none of these issues are significant in isolation, the culmination of all of them resulted in a very disappointing stay given it was one of the most expensive options available.

Hi Tom, Very sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay. I think these matters would have been easy to resolve if you had have told me about them. You said there was not much gas left for the BBQ and I rushed out and replaced this immediately, I left this at the front for two reasons- A- The gate was locked B- I didn't want to disturb you during your stay. I pay a professional cleaning company good money to clean that property and any cleaning issues I can have them back usually the same day. One phone call about any cleaning issues and I could have resolved it. The lawns are mowed every fortnight and we had rain during the time of your stay so the lawns tend to grow quickly when that happens. Comparing this property to staying at the Ville or a higher end hotel this is less expensive and I believe this house to be extremely good value for money. Sorry again you didn't have an enjoyable stay.

This modern home was very clean and comfortable. There was plenty of room and a lovely deck. It was close to all conveniences and we were able to walk to the Strand for dinner. Good access with the integral lockup garage. Would definitely stay again.

Great holiday location

This property is located close to the Strand, shops and airport. It was the perfect spot for an extended stay in Townsville. The house was modern and comfortable and had everything we needed. As the property sits back a bit from the road, we found it very quiet and peaceful. Steve was the perfect host and was very accomodating.

Absolute Luxury

An amazing property! From the moment you open the side access gate and walk inside this modern clad palace, it's hard to stop smiling. A three bedroom house the same size as a four or five bedder, simply because everything is lush and oversized. Ensuites the size of bedrooms, high quality finishes everywhere and an immediate feeling of comfort once the bags were put down and you were relaxing amongst the beautiful lounge setting. Was not able to leave the house much in the current climate and that was perfectly fine. Happy little retreats outside, with ping pong and a relaxing spa. The outdoor dining area was also a thing of beauty, which simply has to be seen to be appreciated. Great TV and sound system set up also; beds were clean with soft sheets and pillows you will want to own. Steve the owner was informative and very helpful during the stay, more than happy to answer any questions we had. Quite simply, a place you will be truly sad to leave, because you know you dont own it....
