What a fantastic place. Great accommodation, awesome area. We enjoyed strolls around the village, the beach, and along the boardwalk, as well as a little shopping in the cute boutique stores. The highlight was the Mangawhai Cliff walk!A great place for a relaxing break.

Awesome family holiday

We had a fantastic stay in Mangawhai! The location is ideal and the house is spacious, comfortable, and family-friendly, with plenty of room for the kids to play including a games room. Thank you for a wonderful stay we would love to come back again!

we all enjoyed the property, the beds, i am a solo dad of four kids and it was great to be there, the kids played with the toys, sandpit, able tennis and skateboard a lot. the bach stay team were attentive and very helpful, thank you

Short stay

We were only in the area for a few days and this location was perfect for us - close enough to walk to Maungawhai hub area but off the main road and very quiet. Also being next to the sports park and having a dog was a bonus

A Nice Little Getaway

Clean property, nice sized rooms and a full fenced yard. Great that it backed on to a park with was good for the dog. Nice getaway for a few days and a good base for exploring the area. You will need to drive though as there isn't much in the village.Good stay overall.

Thanks for your feedback, it is interesting you say there is not a lot in the village though as there is Bennetts chocolate shop and cafe, Four Square, Award winning butcher, several shops a couple of restaurants and takeaways, a bar, Mangawhai Tavern and Saturday markets so guests usually find it a good location to stay with lots of things within walking distance.

Just what we needed

Perfect location for a short trip away. Close to restaurants, easy drive to beach, lovely neighbourhood. The only surprise was the 4am fishing trip party that departed from next door.

Overall a positive experience and would return to same property, but standard of cleaning and kitchen equipment could be improved

Tranquil and Private

Delightful property, very quiet, private setting & close to all amenities. Fenced secure garden for my small fur babies, perfect. Looking forward to our return trip and enjoying hopefully some nicer weather. Would not hesitate to recommend this property.

Great stay***

Lovely house, local to everything with nice deck and yard. Trampoline and ping pong 🏓 to occupy the kids. Walking distance to Bennetts chocolate 🍫😋 and eateries. Will definitely return.

Family friendly

Spacious 3bdrm. Huge deck, fully fenced, garage with games and open plan living. Not close to the beach, but a great park just down the alleyway and ducks to feed across the road.

Whilst we were happy enough with the property the Lounge furniture was absolutely woeful, the sofa was too worn out, too low for comfortable seating so we reverted to bringing in the wicker outdoor chairs to provide comfort. The dining chairs are stuffed, no other way to describe them, they are so worn out there is no foam left on the seats. The cooking hob is severely marked with cooked on spill residues, it's never been cleaned properly, the oven just a little better. The fry pans are pretty much unusable they are so caked up with black cooking residue they should be thrown out. Microwave oven wouldn't work. Kitchen knives, what was there were so blunt and edges so damaged they were useless.The entire property we rated as a 4 out of 10 due to the 'other' things like kitchen/lounge/dining stuff dragging it down. It would take a very small investment to very easily bring this property up to a 9 out of 10. I emplore the owners to just give the attention to the little but important things, decent seating, clean usable pans, appliance maintainance, and just spend a few extra cents on better quality toilet rolls, dishwasher tabs and dish washing liquid. It doesn't take much at all to vastly improve the experience. Would we go back? Certainly, but only if the owners invested in upgrades.

Hi Neil and Susan, thanks so much for your feedback. We have discussed with the owners, who will replace the microwave, sorry about that as it had just suddenly stopped working at your arrival. Owners will deal to what is attend able at their end, the couch is a little more of a personal preference which is unlikely to change so a good note for anyone else reading this and can make their choice on that so thanks for bringing it to guests attention. Some of the cleaning suggested is more baked on requires special cleaning over not clean at all so we will also look into that. Very handy to our relations and great for entertaining.

The only thing that we were dissapointed about was the smell of dog and middle bedroom had locked wardrobe.

Glad you enjoyed your stay and sorry about the dog smell, we hadn't noticed anything at the pre-arrival check but the owner is going to check it out in case it is the blankets in the lounge that people have dogs on. Regarding the middle bedroom wardrobe, it isn't locked you just have to pull the door quite firmly as it is a strong catch.

Weekend getaway

Great location, walking distance to the Village, school and Tavern markets. Shoet drive ro New World at Mangawhai Central then a bit further to the Heads and then Beach. Great walk along the estuary and up in the dunes. Refreshed and ready for a new week. House itself was roomy, big deck and great yard. Kids loved the games room set up in the garage.

Boom Shaka laka

Nice place spacious awesome garage entertainment for friendly competition with the table tennis and foos ball even taking it to the rim bball hoop. Would be more awesome with a dryer though. Cheers.

Micro break

Sufficient house for small family. Fully fenced for dog which was great however underneath of house is open so be mindful of small dogs that like to explore 😝 While it is definitely walking distance to Bennett's and a few other places (butchers/ shops / Dune) we chose to drive due to changeable weather. Managawhai, Mangawhai Heads and further up the coast are lovely relaxed, dog friendly areas. We had a great chilled stay. Thanks!
