We rent vacation properties every year through various rental platforms, so we have a fair amount of experience with what is reasonable to expect from a vacation rental. Unfortunately, compared with other properties we have stayed in, this cabin fell short in several areas.During our stay, the property ran out of propane, including propane for the barbecue, which we had only used a couple of times. We ended up having to purchase our own propane. There was limited toilet paper available in the house, so we had to purchase our own.The bathroom and kitchen soaps and detergents also appeared to be significantly watered down. The curtains had noticeable stains, the carpets did not appear to have been vacuumed, and there was a slight odor throughout the home. The yard also appeared somewhat unkept. The kitchen is quite dated and has very limited counter space, which made meal preparation more difficult. The main bathroom does have a lock, but the piece of wood securing it in place was easily dislodged during normal use, leaving the bathroom without a usable lock. This was concerning from a privacy standpoint and seems like something that could be easily and inexpensively improved. We were also asked to strip our own bedding and start the washing machine before leaving. While we understand that some checkout responsibilities are normal for vacation rentals, but given the cleanliness of the cabin throughout, we were not pleased.
