This was the worst experience I have ever had booking with a host. The host of this unit is not a real person, it’s a management company with AI assistants. This listing should be flagged as a scam. The headline for this property uses a pool as their selling point, but the pool is 5 minutes down the road at a different address, nowhere near the unit we booked. The pictures will mislead you to think the unit has a covered balcony that overlooks a pool, but the front door faces a stone wall under a staircase and the area that you expect the pool to be is a yard of rocks. The place smells like a smoking room at a hotel and the bathroom is moldy. I reached out to the host the morning after we checked in and I never heard from anyone for an entire week. I spent every single day of my trip on a customer service phone call with VRBO being told the host said they were contacting me, but they weren’t. The management company “host” has only reached out with automated messages saying they will update me and never followed through. They then sent several automated messages asking for a 5-star review after ignoring my outreach. These kind of host should be banned from using VRBO to list their properties. It is nearly impossible to speak to a real person even though your profile says you’re messaging the host. Would not recommended staying here. Also, it says it’s downtown. It’s not downtown.

Property review

Our guest enjoyed her stay immensely. It was reasonably priced, in a great neighborhood, and convenient to many amenities.

Nice Space

This stay was nice, quiet neighborhood, an easy drive/Lyft/Uber to downtown, and the neighbors are friendly.

Convenient spacious apartment

Great location near downtown, good space and facilities. The only minor thing was no tin opener in the kitchen apart from that it was an excellent stay.

Great Location

Easy access location, close to great coffee and restaurants, very comfy bed. Older, well loved apartments - the only outlet in the bathroom I could find was above the light fixture, so beware if you're vertically challenged! Great place for a weekend getaway!

Great place to work remote on vacation

Awesome stay, exactly what I needed. Internet was very high speed and that is what was most important since I was working during the day from home and enjoying the Austin night life. Super clean and comfortable, will book again. Thank you so much!

Quiet Single Bedroom Apartment

This apartment was a comfortable place to stay for 2 grown adults. We were within driving distance of downtown and could easily Uber/Lyft everywhere. We walked 20 mins to Mozart's Coffee several mornings. The neighborhood is quiet and appears to be a very safe area. I was very pleased with the price of the stay and the accessibility. The host responds to messages within a timely manner and is polite and friendly.

Thanksgiving stay 2022

Excellent rental for our 4-night stay in Austin. The rental is well-equipped and furnished for a very comfortable stay. The unit is in a quiet neighborhood and all units were respectful of other residents. Parking was easy. Noise at night was minimal to none. The neighborhood is walkable and has quick, driveable access to Lake Austin, Mt Bonnell, and bike trails. This is an excellent choice for anyone wishing to access Austin for recreation but preferring a neighborhood for lodging.

Great Stay

The apartment had everything we needed for a mid-week trip: fully equipped kitchen, internet, TV with all of the watch options you could want, clean towels and sheets. I found the bed quite comfortable. Be aware that you will need to use public transit (grab a bus map at the airport!) or Ubers to get places, as this was a little bit out of the way in a residential neighborhood. The buses worked great though, and we figured out pretty early on how to get downtown quickly and inexpensively

Great location

This was in a great location for me. The property being a little old is understandably a little rough around the edges. Had an issue with the shower and maintenance was sent out the next day who took care of everything. Other reviews mentioned how comfy the bed is- I must be a smaller percentage. It was like sleeping on a marshmallow- so if you like a very soft bed this is your spot! Communication was really good but also sometimes to excess. Overall a cute little spot for a good price.

Our stay in Austin was the week of the eclipse, so options were limited. Ended up here, and while our stay was ok, the condition of the flat was poor at best. Kitchen and bath cabinets are falling apart, built decades ago. The shower was near impossible to control as the handles were broken. The bed was a mattress practically on the floor, felt like we were camping. We have stayed in "dated" rooms before, and although fairly clean, it was not worth the money. Look elsewhere.

Decent but needs good cleaning.

Free parking is fight for a spot, not a spot reserved. Clean is far from it as had to clean pans to cook dinner. (Have pictures if the owner wants them) trash can had not been rinsed in months. A papertowel was over front door window they used decals off of clothes to hang it. Like slim fit. Communicating is by far not the best. Called them asking about parking at 1130 at night when we arrived NEVER received a call back for the message i left. Not looking for anything in return but wanted to put a honest review of the property out there. Contact me i am more than happy to send pictures.

Worst experience EVER

Could not enter the house in the middle of the night since the key code would not work. Was not compensated for all the Uber rides and nonsense that we had to deal with because of being stranded so late at night. Found dead bugs in kitchen and bathroom INternet was not working because the router had to be replaced and the person we spoke to was RUDE! The bed gave me a backache WORST experience ever! I didn't leave a review with airbnb but now in hindsight I probably should have and warned others

We strive for guests to have a wonderful experience and many do. We wish you had properly read the instructions that were sent to you ahead of time. We are glad that you were able to re gain entry with the same instructions sent to you the following day. The place is on routine pest control so very surprised to be hearing this. Shaky start but manager sorted it out

We checked in after hours, but the bed wasn't made and the bathroom was not cleaned. As if the cleaners started working on it and stopped halfway. This was an issue and we messaged the host. They promptly apologized and said they would investigate. We couldn't stay there that night, so we had to book elsewhere. Host fixed it an reimbursed the night we weren't there. These things happen but I appreciate the honesty and willingness to fix things. Otherwise, place is fine. Economy unit in a mostly quiet neighborhood. It's street level, so you'll feel the people walking by on the sidewalk and on the side road. Heater heats well. Full sized fridge, dishwasher, and a nice TV. Very fast internet. Can't complain for the price. Well, I kind of did, but the host sorted it. So we're good. Also, I'm not sure there's a pool in that complex. So ask about it. I didn't see one.

Not the best experience

I’ll start with the positives…the location was good, it was near the house my sister rented for her group and wasn’t right downtown but not far drive/uber ride and also not far from Lake Austin and the Colorado River with cute restaurants and fun activities. The check in and check out process was easy. The host was very quick to respond although not always with a resolution when we reached out with our complaints. For the negatives…free parking is advertised but what it didn’t say is it’s first come first serve and not always available. The first night we had to park the car at my sister’s rental and get dropped off because there were no spots available. The house also had a terrible smell, it was very musty/moldy smelling. The shower never got hot, which the host said no one has complained about previously so they are sending maintenance to check on boiler so this may be fixed. Also when packing up and trying to make sure we didn’t leave anything, we found a dirty sock and dirty Kleenex in the couch that didn’t belong to us. Also notified the host of this and we’re just told thank you for the feedback and they’d notify the cleaning company to do better.

Total loss of confidence in the Austin Vacay company

Property is decent for price, HOWEVER, they knew - before we arrived- that the faucet for the hot water in the property’s ONLY bathroom was broken and didn’t warn us. After a 16-hour overseas flight, I went to give my child a bath at about 8:30pm to find this. I immediately texted the after hours contact, who told me flat out that they were AWARE of this problem and ‘hopefully maintenance will have it fixed tomorrow.’ I requested a refund for the night(s) with no access to hot water in the bathtub and was told ‘it’s not our fault that the maintenance hasn’t been done.’ The next day, our contact from the company, Ames, emailed to make sure our check in was ok. I told her about the issue and she seemed similarly unconcerned and completely ignored my request for a refund. Although maintenance did show up the next day and fixed the problem, just the fact that they knew about it and didn’t tell us, and THEN gave me a line of BS worthy of a lazy teenager when I requested that they take financial responsibility for their mistake is not the sort of behaviour anybody on vacation should have to deal with. I come to Austin quite regularly, and will never use this company again.
