All season Bedford Lake House with sunset views on Devil Lake

Located in historic Bedford Township, on pristine Devil Lake, 30 minutes north of Kingston, Ontario, a 6.5 acre property with over 2,000 feet of water frontage, the newly renovated Bedford Lake House was purpose built to welcome guests year round.

Each season with its own delights - fall colours, winter's ice access to the lake, spring's vibrancy and classic summer relaxation.

This property has all the most desirable features of a waterfront setting - private, yet easily accessed with south and west facing views looking across to the far shore

With advance request, the twin beds can be converted to a king bed.

Optional 4th bedroom (separately accessed from the outside), with ensuite 2-piece bathroom. This is available when booking for more than 6 people.

The Bedford Lake House is fully climate controlled with central heating, air conditioned, air tight fireplace and equipped with circulating fans in each room. A washer and dryer is available for guest use.

The Property
By the shores, there is a fire pit patio with Adirondack chairs plus more secluded locations with a hammock or reading relaxation and of course a large dock for swimming and docking private boats. There is a public boat launch conveniently nearby. Watercraft provided include kayaks, canoe and a pedal boat.

Access
The location also affords easy access to local hiking and cycling trails and Frontenac Provincial Park is at the west end of the lake. Take a 10 minute drive to the quaint villages of Westport or Newboro, both on the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Alternatively, spend a day in historic Kingston for a 1000 Islands Cruise, a Kingston Penitentiary tour, Fort Henry and many other attractions, as well as a selection of restaurants unmatched by any city of its size.

So private, yet easily accessed. Only 30 minutes north of Kingston; 1.5 hours southwest of Ottawa and 3 hours from Toronto or Montreal.

The cottage is in an excellent location.Not only it’s very clean but also the owners of the cottage has a great taste in art and decor.They have put so much attention and thought into the details from the kitchen to the bathrooms.We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to go back there again.

Our stay at the Bedford Lakehouse was so much fun. The lake house is gorgeous and the views are incredible. The home has everything and more for a great stay. Hope to go back again.

Beautiful Oasis

We had an amazing time staying at Paula and Hugh's home. They were so kind and welcoming, and made sure the place was in prestine shape for our stay. The home itself is absolutely stunning, but the view was by far our favourite. I would recommend staying here if you ever get the chance. We will definitely be back!!

This property is absolutely beautiful inside and out. Views are fantastic. Firepit area is a great spot. So nice to have space to walk around… beautiful garden!Inside is immaculate. The kitchen so well equipped. The four bedrooms are spaced for privacy, the beds comfortable.It was so special to have vases of flowers placed throughout… from the owner's garden.All in all, a wonderful place to have spent Thanksgiving weekend.

Lake Cottage Getaway

This is such a lovely property elevated above the lake with stunning views, particularly at sunset. We loved exploring the lake by canoe and were able to get really close to loons and turtles. The house is equipped with everything you could possibly need. A perfect Canadian luxury cottage experience.

Beautiful Lake House Experience

A wonderful first cottage experience for our friends. From sitting around the campfire next to the lake, hearing the loons call across the water, watching the spectacular sunsets to making meals together in the fully stocked kitchen, we had a fantastic time. Beautiful location

The property is beautiful! The views of the lake are outstanding. The lake house is very well stocked with everything you could need, especially the kitchen. The peddle boat, kayaks and canoe were put to good use. Devil Lake is picturesque and lovely to boat on, fishing is fun as well. The property is wonderful! The only issue people may have if they bring a boat over 15 or 16 feet is the public launch is on a 70km road and you need to go into the live lane to line up for the launch and there is no dock beside it. Everything about the property itself is amazing! It is a wonderful place for relaxing and enjoying lakefront living!

The Perfect Getaway on Devil's Lake

Located on its own little peninsula at Devil's Lake, this recently remodeled custom 3-bedroom home is an idyllic retreat. We really enjoyed the privacy of the master suite with its own private entry, while our adult children had their own complete suites. The kitchen was outfitted perfectly, and the garden provided some incredible vegetables. The BBQ and outdoor eating area overlooking the lake was wonderful. We made full use of the kayaks and paddle boat, and really enjoyed swimming off the dock. Out hosts, Paula and Hugh were attentive and generous. We were very pleased with our entire experience. Perfect Autumn Vacation

Everything was perfect! Well stocked, comfortable furniture, exceptionally comfortable beds and luxurious feeling bedding, super friendly hosts, clean, clean, clean, quiet and clean lake. We just couldn't ask for more. The garden was wonderful and plentiful even in October. And the view!!! There couldn't be a prettier view on a lake in Ontario. There were stairs to the lakefront but they were managable. No burning leg muscles even for us over 60's. I would not hesitate to book another vacation here. Thank you so much Paula & Hugh.

An Amazing Week!

From the moment we drove up to the property, we knew this would be a special experience. The cottage/lake house is located in a quiet, private bay and the views are spectacular, particularly in the morning and evening, where we were fortunate to see a variety of amazing sunsets. We enjoyed many days on the water, both swimming and paddling around the lake in the kayaks and canoe provided. The check-in and check-out process was seamless and Paula and Hugh made sure everything we needed was readily available. The perfect way to start the summer! Thanks! ☺️

Paradise on Devil Lake

Many reviews substantiate that Bedford Lake House is a 5 star property. Check-in, Facilities, Wi-fi, all first class. For our three-generation family of 7 including two young girls of 5 and 7 what made our stay so special. First, the view from the cottage over Devil Lake, the sunsets were amazing. Second, the flower and vegetable garden - where are young girls filled their buckets every day with ripe tomatoes, cabbage, carrots, peppers, beans, herbs, strawberries, beets .. the list goes on. Third, the owner treated us all to a sunset pontoon ride where we learned so much of the history of the lake and the few lucky occupants,. Fourth, the floating carpet dock where we played in the safe waters of the lake. Paradise!

Wonderful Stay

The Bedford Lakehouse is beautiful! There was nothing that this home lacked. If you enjoy cooking the kitchen has everything you need. Paula and Hugh have put so much care and thought into the decor and how the home is laid out for comfort and enjoyment. The lake is pristine with stunning sunsets. While we didn't swim the water was warm and wished we had brought our swimsuits. The garden was also a nice surprise! Paula and Hugh are wonderful hosts. They were very easy to reach if we needed anything. And, a pleasure to speak with. Thank you for sharing your beautiful Bedford Lakehouse and we hope to visit again. Kind regards, The Allens

Stunning! Fantastic Stay!

The International MPS Network booked this property to house 2 families affected by MPS (Mucopolysaccharidosis) to film a documentary about the importance of time in diagnosis and treatment. The families and film crew were delighted with the location which provided a beautiful background for the documentary as well as a clean and comfortable space.Communication with the owners was seamless.One guest wrote:"The owner met me and helped me carry my bags up! I tought the place is stunning, upgrades all around. Fully stocked and furnished. Super clean everywhere. Bedford Lake House on Devil Lake

My husband and friends and I had an incredible time at the lake house. Very comfortable with plenty of space in the living room, dining room, kitchen and bedrooms. The property was beautiful and situated on a point. The sunsets were gorgeous and the lake was quiet. We enjoyed seeing the turtles sunning themselves on the rocks. The hosts were gracious allowing us to use their vegetable and herb garden. We look forward to going back again.

We discovered Devil Lake in 1989 and had the good fortune to acquire a small island in 2004. In the fall of 2021 we purchased this beautiful year-round home fulfilling a desire to enjoy winter on the lake to complement summers on the island.

Hugh has worked in tourism for 40 plus years and a recipient of Canada's Tourism Industry (TIAC) Lifetime Achievement award. Paula is a retired municipal manager.

We live in Kingston and relish our close access to the pristine paradise of Devil Lake, 35 minutes from our home in town.

We look forward to welcoming guests and sharing our enthusiasm for this very special place.

The Bedford Lake House is an enviable location on one of the cleanest lakes in the province, located in the UNESCO designated Frontenac Arch Biosphere. The west end of Devil Lake is part of Frontenac Provincial Park.
This property itself is a diverse 6.5 acres full of potential. A open field, a vegetable and herb garden, woodlands and a private island. A full 2000' of frontage with peninsulas and bays. Privacy, with no close neighbours.

The Bedford Lakehouse has all the elements of a special place to be enjoyed. It is accessible directly off Perth Rd leading from Kingston to Westport. The property is a large peninsula surrounded on 3 sides by the lake with wonderful west and south facing views across open channels between islands to the far side of the lake, privacy with no close neighbours, a gentle and accessible slope to the water and a pristine rocky shoreline with clear, deep swimming and boating access.

The house has 4 bedrooms, 3 with patio doors to private decks and 4 bathrooms (3 on suite). There is a large modern, well equipped kitchen shared in open concept with the living room and its signature picture window making the lake very prominently a part of the atmosphere. A spacious separate dining room is adjacent to the kitchen featuring lake views on two sides and patio doors to a covered dining deck with multifunction BBQ.

The Bedford Lake House location, accessibility and comforts with full HVAC systems make the property ideal for any time of year.
