This was a quiet, peaceful place to stay with a friendly host who pays a lot of attention to keeping the kitchen well stocked with coffee, tea, oatmeal and pancakes for breakfast. A welcome surprise was the excellent internet connection. If your looking for a place in Chiloquin I would recommend Pennie's in the Pines, aptly named due to the many large Ponderosa pines on the property. Excellent outdoor space and nice grill.

Visiting Crater Lake … this is the perfect place to stay!

My family of 6 loved our stay at this property! The house is spacious and cozy, and the location is great. Jim and his dog Penny are extremely welcoming and kind. The location is perfect. We highly recommend staying here!

Family vacation

We needed a place to stay close to Collier State Memorial Park where we had other family camping, this home was close and worked perfectly for our needs. The host provided great amenities that made our stay even more pleaseant.

Sweet Little Home with Thoughtful Owner

This little home tucked in the valley and surrounded by mountains was the perfect cozy retreat for our Crater Lake adventures. The property sits in a serene setting and the owner has thought of every little touch to make your stay comfortable. From the coffee bar, to the provided kitchen appliances to the staple items provided for use…they have thought of everything. We would definitely stay here again.

Pennies in the Pines

Beautiful location, near many amazing put-ins for our kayak club. Bbq, kitchen, yard games. Owner was nearby and generous. Great time!

Great location and host.

Can't say enough good things about this place. The location is a great launching pad for outdoor adventures. It was warm and welcoming when we arrived with a Christmas tree and decorations and music waiting to greet us. It is very well stocked with treats and lots of kitchen tools. The host clearly looks out for guests comfort. If you are going to crater lake, this is the place to stay.

The Chiloquin retreat was just what we were looking for with our trip to Crater Lake. The property is so conveniently located to the entrance. It was perfect for our group of adults, children and dogs. The fenced in area was great for the dogs to be able to stretch their legs. Also the outdoor games were fun for all. I appreciated the owner giving us a call before we came to let us know there are limited options for groceries in the immediate area. We just planned accordingly.

Great location!

Lovely home. Well equipped with nice touches to add to our comfort and enjoyment. Breakfast bar, horse shoes, corn hole, board games, cozy blankets and fast internet. Wood River Wetland is a short walk away. Our host suggested a number of places to visit. We particularly enjoyed Toketee Falls and Lava Beds National Monument. 30 miles to Crater Lake which we visited several times. Highly recommend this place.

Family Trip to Train Mountain

Our family came from Washington and California to attend the Fall Colors Meet at Train Mountain. Pennie's in the Pines was excellent in providing a place for all of us to gather. Jim is extremely friendly and welcoming. He provides everything you need and checks on you too. You won't be disappointed. His decorating and photography is splendid.

Great Hospitality on the Range

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful, remote location. The house was very clean and has a lot of space. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment and is very usable. We loved that there was enough seating for five people at both the inside and outside deck table, and in the living room. Great hospitality. Great deck and yard. Close to Crater Lake, which was our goal. But also close to Train Mountain Railway Museum, which is super fun. We had a great evening of star gazing and s’mores, then another evening of star gazing up at Crater Lake.

Great place to stay

I have to say, with all the rentals I've stayed at in the past, this was by far the best experience. The owner called prior to our stay to give us the lay of the land and welcome us to his home. I've never had that happen before. The place was clean and ready to go. The deck was spacious and private. There was a complete breakfast bar which was just fantastic! And then we got home and I received another call making sure our stay was to our liking and to thank us for our visit. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again at all. If you're looking for something quiet, clean and private this is your place.

Perfect base camp

We came to visit Crater Lake in mid June. Our host was wonderful about answering questions about the property and sharing tips about great places to eat and play. Everything he told us about was spot on. The house was big, it could accommodate at least six people, the breakfast/coffee bar was very well stocked and much appreciated. The house is like coming to your own cozy mountain cabin. The kitchen has everything you can cook with provided. The yard is on acreage and has a fenced yard for dogs or small kids. You can even bring your horse, there is a place for them too! All kinds of indoor and outdoor games have been provided. Did I mention it’s about 30 miles to Crater Lake? It is a place like none other. The hiking was unbelievable. We were extremely happy with our visit. Thank you for the great memories!

Thank you for sharing your cute cozy home with myself, my husband and our two dogs. Your home is definitely the most welcoming VRBO I've ever stayed at. It kind of felt like going to visit my dad... The breakfast bar area is unsurpassed and so thoughtful. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, instant oatmeal and lots and lots of munchies. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who provided all the thoughtful touches and what a nice person he is. He definitely wants everyone to enjoy their stay at his place and is super responsive. If you are bringing dogs with you, the fenced yard is secure and the yard good sized so dogs can get their zoomies out. I never worried for a minute that Waldo, our escape artist, would get out. Lots and lots of birds and we got to see the cutest quail several times. Wood River Wetland is just up the road, and an excellent place to take a walk and birdwatch. (Take a left out of the driveway and look for the entrance on the right.) The drive to Crater Lake is beautiful with lots of breathtaking places along the route. Make sure you stop at Beckie's Cafe for pie. Yum!!!
