Somerset Dam Retreat - Relax & unwind. Sleeps 10

The Somerset Dam Retreat is the perfect place to escape and relax. Located in a quiet cul-de-sac in the historic Somerset Dam Village & minutes from Lake Somerset, it’s a gorgeous holiday house for family or friends wanting to get away.

Surrounded by mountains with adjoining acreage views, it’s the ultimate location to unwind. Perfect for weddings at Coronation Hall only 300m away plus a boaties dream with "The Spit" just a few minutes drive down the road. You'll love staying at this beautiful location. (But sorry.. you’ll have to leave your pets at home!).

The cosy house is beautifully decorated with quality furniture and a modern country feel. It offers 3/4 bedrooms, and can comfortably sleep up to 10 guests. All linen is included. The master offers a queen bed plus ensuite, the second bedroom offers a double bed and the combined third and fourth bedroom has a double bed plus 2 sets of bunks (aka "The Bunk House!").

Out the back is a great place for families to come and unwind with an open bar, fire pit with seating, outdoor dining table, and it wouldn’t be a holiday without a BBQ. The area is perfect for winter nights by the fire or summer sunset views over the mountains.

Our stunning main living room looks out to acreage views through french doors, and has plenty of seating for everyone. A wood fireplace adds to the ambience and keeps those winter nights cosy. Entertain the family with a TV, DVD player with a large selection of DVD’s and board games for the kids and those competitive adults! This room is south facing with the combination of air-conditioner and fans to cool the place down during summer.

We also offer a second living zone (aka "The Reading Room"), the perfect place to relax and read your favourite book, chat with friends or have some time to yourself.

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home… well in this case it sure is! With views of both the front and back of the house you are always part of the conversation with four bar stools at the bench. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need including an oven, microwave, coffee machine, fridge, kettle and toaster etc.

The dining area has a beautiful timber table with bench seats and head of table chairs.

Lovely home away from home. Fabulous amenities, plenty to keep kids amused. Would have loved to stay longer. Location perfect hopefully get back again one day.

Relaxing

Great property and location. Weather was horrible so we were confined to staying in and enjoyed thenfireplace and various board games on offer.

A lovely retreat

Our extended family (including grandchild of 6 mths) really enjoyed our stay at ‘Somerset Retreat’. The property was clean & well set out so there was space for everyone. Just a lovely retreat for us all!

Family long weekend

We had a great long weekend with family ( 6 Adults 3 children) lots of room for everyone. The home was clean comfortable and everything we needed was available. Th surrounding area has great views and lovely walks.

Such a lovely, comfortable home with everything you could need with close access to Lake Somerset. Perfect for making family memories. Suz and Mark were great hosts. We will be back.

The location is great, and the property is generally well maintained and thoughtfully presented.A few things could be improved. We would have appreciated additional rubbish bags, and more firewood, as only three rubbish bags and two small pieces of firewood were provided for our stay.The property is advertised as a 3-bedroom home, which we did not feel accurately reflected the layout. One of the bedrooms is divided into two sections without a door separating them, which reduces privacy. The second bedroom is very small, and we found the bed uncomfortable.The master bedroom is spacious and pleasant, however there was a noticeable odour in the room. We also occasionally noticed a sewage/toilet smell in the outdoor area.Overall, we enjoyed the beautiful location and the property has many positive features, but the points above affected our comfort during the stay.

Thank you for your feedback. We’d like to clarify a few points for future guests considering our property. The booking was originally made for 6 guests; however, a significantly larger number of people stayed during the reservation. While additional guests were later paid for once identified, our property operates on a septic system with a strict capacity, and exceeding the agreed guest count can impact both facilities and overall comfort. Regarding the layout, the home is accurately described and photographed in the listing. The third bedroom configuration, including bedding arrangements, is clearly shown so guests can make an informed decision prior to booking. We also provide pre-arrival information outlining what is and isn’t included (such as firewood), to ensure expectations are clear. Standard household amenities, including bins, are available throughout the home. Regarding supplies, we provide a starter amount of essentials such as rubbish bags. We do our best to accommodate early arrivals and late departures when possible, and we appreciate guests respecting agreed check-in and check-out times. We remain committed to providing a comfortable stay for all guests and encourage careful review of the listing details and house rules before booking to ensure the property is the right fit.

Delightful mini break

Absolutely lovely property. Felt like home straight away. Had everything we needed. Kids loved the games and ping pong table. We loved the front deck and ‘parents lounge’ at front of home. Bunk room was perfect for 6 kids to share. Really enjoyed our time away and wish we had booked the extra night, cause I didn’t want to go home today.

We had a marvelous time. The property was quiet and had a fire pit and ping pong table which our children loved! The only issue I had was that the main bedroom is not separated by a door to the main bathroom. Otherwise, it was a nice getaway. The Spit is 5 minutes away. Kilocy and Esk are between 20-30 minutes away and are cute little country towns. Would recommend to a friend.

Kylie was easy to deal with on booking our stay for 3 nights.Key at door so easy access .Place is lovely and suits our 6 girls to stay and craft in.Large dinning table close to do kitchen which Kylie keeps stocked with essential extras.Eg sauces salt glad wrap all the items u need but don’t take with u.Beds are comfortable although we think the king is now a queen mattress but not sure what listing is now advertised at.plenty of space for all.Did find T.V. A bit hard to navigate! Outside areas a bonus and easy to use ,bonus the local birds came to say hello,grated carrot was enjoyed.(safe to give)Would highly recommend to stay and enjoy all this place has to offer.This is our second time staying and fabulous time had by all.

Hi, we're Kylie & Dave. Nice to meet you! We have 4 kids and live in the Gold Coast region. We’re so glad that you have checked out our place and hope you are considering a stay out at the retreat.

As every busy family knows, sometimes it’s not easy to get out the grind and get away. It takes a conscious effort to spend quality time together with family and friends, to escape from the constant business of life and to unwind and have some fun!

Our dreams came true when we visited Somerset Dam Village and instantly fell in love with the town. We were blessed when we found a super cute house and loved the idea of being able to share it with others as well! We also love being near the water so having the dam minutes away for summer fun sealed the deal.

If you love fishing, skiing or boats, you’ll be in boaties paradise. During winter, it’s pretty awesome being surrounded by fog in between the mountains as you can cozy up by the fire and rug up. There’s also plenty of wildlife around the area including resident tawny frogmouth owls, rainbow lorikeets and there’s even wild deer around the area. There’s so much to enjoy!
