Great property and views

House was tucked away and very private location. Plenty of space for family and friends to relax. Large deck, fire pit outside. We took the kayaks out on the lake and enjoyed those as well. Only downside was the very steep walk down to the lake.

Good not quite great

Beautiful house in a great area. Unfortunately there were a few challenges that prevented this from being amazing. No boat launch in the community, slip was on the other side of the neighborhood, walk to the water was extremely steep, even the driveway was crazy steep. House seemed a little empty, but was spotless clean and overall everything inside was great.

Beautiful house

House was clean and well stocked. Very comfortable. Beautiful views out windows and off deck. Driveway is not for the faint of heart. Overall, a great stay !!

Family vaca

The house is beautiful. Well equipped. The drive way is like a roller coaster ride. A bit scary. The walk to the lake is not for the faint hearted.

Very nice place

This was a very nice property. I wanted to provide some pros and cons if they are helpful to anyone! Pros: 1) the management company was very responsive to any question 2) the kitchen was very nice and well appointed 3) house was like new and clean 4) kayaks were a great addition (FYI there are only 3 life jackets for swimming in the lake) 5) fire pit was so nice to have (although chairs around it would have been nice....the tree stumps were not comfortable to sit on, but there is also a picnic table near by) Cons: 1) the driveway was extremely steep. You cannot see down it when you are pulling in, it seems like you are driving off a cliff. I was too scared to drive down it but my husband was able to do it. Make sure you have good breaks! 2) The walk down to the lake was much steeper than I expected. Totally fine for most people but if you have little ones or anyone with physical limitations, it is difficult. 3) the bed in the master was high off the ground. It was fine to hop in, but just pointing out as it might be difficult for some people. 4) we weren't able to enjoy the deck as much as I had hoped as there was no shade or umbrella and the sun was often too much to be out there 5) the TV doesn't work very well (no reception) so just be prepared for that (we had no problems with the internet for phones/laptops)

Restful Weekend Getaway

We had a wonderful time together at this beautiful lake home in the mountains. We enjoyed meals together, spent time down by the lake, and even did some hiking in the nearby State Park. There are also some trails within the community to explore. From the house you can see mountains and lovely forest greenery but unfortunately, we could not see the lake as its quite a ways down and obscured by trees. Access to the lake from the house is by a well-kept but quite steep path. Proper footwear recommended. The recreational area by the lake is a pristine forest, shaded by thick tree cover. The beach itself is muddy and slick, and there is no available dock, but the area is beautiful and easy to explore by kayak. The home is comfortable and practical for a group of our size. We took the trash away as instructed but were unable to locate the community center so had to drive home with garbage in the back of the car. I would recommend better information as to what to do with the garbage to improve the experience.

Perfect and private

The beach, fire pit and huge back deck was enjoyed by all! This home is like new throughout! Used the gated/coded trailer lot for your boat trailer and enjoyed a quick ride over to the water front restaurant.

Great secluded lake house on Lake James

This lake house has a great open plan for spending time with the family and plenty of space for quiet times as you can’t see any neighboring houses. The house is like new and extremely clean. We loved that there was a large deck with views of the mountains to enjoy our coffee in the morning. There are two tables inside with one large dining room table to enjoy meals with the family. During the day our kids loved spending time at the lake on the kayaks that are on premise and then we enjoyed campfires at night at the firepit next to the house. We made day trips to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain and Mount Mitchell State Park as well as enjoyed some nearby waterfall trails. We are looking forward to coming back to this tranquil retreat next year.

Beautiful like new home w/great privacy!!

My husband and I enjoyed the open main floor, full kitchen, and large back deck. Upstairs loft and game room worked out for the kids. The private beach was great for easy kayak launch. We will definitely book again!

Interesting property

House was nice and clean. Access to the lake was poor as you would have to hike down a ways down a steep grade that was being repaired. Going up was very challenging and too much for young children. And good luck trying to take anything back up with you like a kayak or paddle board. My kids went down one time and that was enough for them. Boat slip was nice but still a little inconvenience to get to. Had to drive a few miles to it and then go down a steep set of stairs. Again, not ideal with younger children and carrying things down to boat like coolers. The driveway is super steep. To the point that my wife was uncomfortable driving up and down the driveway. Lastly, it was weird to me that they made us pack all our trash out. Five days of trash to pack out is a lot. When asked if we could leave it in the garage the property manager suggested that we put it in our boat and carry it back home with us. Not exactly what I want to do with a new ski boat. Overall a fun trip and the house is nice but for the money there are a lot of better options out there.

Thank you Adam for the time you took to review our property. If you had taken a few more minutes to read thru the description of the home, and the rental agreement before booking, you would have realized that everything you mentioned was in our house description. Knowing that you only live 52 miles away from the lake, we were a bit taken back at your surprise of the terrain in our area. As for the trash pickup, you arrived on Tuesday afternoon and left on a Sunday. The center for dumping your trash is about 1.5 miles from the house and was open on Wed., Friday, and Saturday until 630. You just chose not to carry off your personal trash as instructed in the house rules. You also signed a rental agreement with two different sections stating you would carry off your personal trash which you failed to follow.

Beautiful home in a very relaxing laid back setting.

This was our first time to Lake James and we will definitely be back! This was the perfect rental house for two couples and our four boys. The home was beautiful and sits on a nice private cove on the lake. The walk down to the lake is steep, but there is a really great shady beach area down by the lake where we set up our Eno hammocks and took out our kayaks. The fire pit area is right up by the house and there is a nice picnic table out there where we make a campfire with the boys and had smores. Terri was very helpful and a great host.

Luxury in the mountains!

Arrived on Thursday 07/28 and stayed 3 nights. First impression was awesome once you get passed the extremely steep driveway (which is kind of the norm for a home built into the side of a mountain). All finishes inside are luxurious and looks to be a brand new home (the basement was still in construction). Only real hiccup was that the propane ran out on us the second day but the grocery store was 5 minutes up the road and we exchanged the propane and were reimbursed at the end of the stay. We brought our boat and a slip was available at the neighborhood dock that was a 2 minute drive from the home. There is lake access from the home but I don't recommend swimming there just because its really shallow and it's mostly mud, but awesome views down by the water and you could kayak there probably. The path that leads down to the water behind the home gets EXTREMELY steep, and you will need some sort of sturdy footwear to get down there, please do not try flip flops. Back deck with the grill is awesome, especially the views of the mountains. Fire pit to the side of the house was great, we used it 2 nights in a row. Plenty of space in each bedroom and the home was well-stocked. Overall, I would say we loved the home!
