Welcome to Cottage by the Lakeshore!



Discover the tranquility of Lakeshore Cottage, ideally situated near an array of attractions and dining spots along the picturesque Lake Lanier. Embark on leisurely lakeside strolls or venture onto the serene waters with our kayaks. Your escape begins with seamless self-check-in, accommodating flexible arrival times.



The cozy cottage comfortably accommodates two, featuring a well-appointed kitchen and a refreshing bath. Expect warmth, comfort, and attentive hosts dedicated to ensuring an exceptional stay. As our guest, delight in access to various outdoor amenities, including kayaks available for advance booking. Additionally, enjoy fishing at the nearby lake access point, easily reached from the charming red stairs depicted in our listing photos. Please note, fishing equipment is not provided. This property is 50 feet away from the Lakeshore Retreat listing. Due to high-speed boating, our waterfront is not designated as a swimming area.



Enhancing your experience is our newly added deck, perfect for unwinding amid nature's beauty. And rest assured, your restful retreat includes a queen-size bed for ultimate comfort.

Also, we engage in pest control at all of our properties, however, due to the rural nature of some of our properties guests may encounter insects and other small creatures. This can include ladybugs, flies, scorpions, mice, etc.



Please Note:

We love hosting furry friends! Pets are welcome with prior approval, and a pet fee applies. Please reach out with details about your pet before booking so we can ensure the perfect stay for everyone!



The guest count you provide must be accurate as there can be additional guest fees. Notify us if you need to adjust the guest count before arrival. A fine of $25 per night will be applied for each undeclared guest.



Reminder: If a guest misses the checkout time, additional fees will be added. If more than 2 hours past checkout, we will charge for an additional day.



Please note there are two cameras on the property. The cameras monitor the walkway and parking area.

It is a small, simple cottage in the woods. The driveway is a bit treacherous. The hot tub was great. The amenities were very good. Overall it was a nice visit.

It is a quaint little cabin on the side of a hill. It's comfortable, welcoming, and surrounded by nature. The hot tub was wonderful after a day of exploring. It's perfect for a couple or the solo adventurer.

Great place

The cottage by the lake shore was a great place to stay for the weekend in a beautiful area right up the hill from the lake.

Overall the stay was great. Great communication and area. Hot tub was excellent! Do wish there would have a bathroom sink and lights on the path to the house as it is dark at night. Other than those things it was a good stay. Would stay again.

Beautiful mountain retreat

The hot tub was wonderful, the only negatives were lack of kitchen ware and glasses, just not enough.

We called the host in the middle of of night because of a rodent issues and had to wait for a call back and no one offee alternate accommodation. Now they will not refund anything even though we incurred additional ecpenses and did not even stay for the first night.
Holes in the walls, as if it was under repairs
Looks like they made a hole then just placed the piece back it
Under the sink where we heard and saw a rodent our first night.

Beautiful place, could use work

The location of this place was beautiful and the people we met were very kind who lived in the “neighborhood”. It should be made known in the description though that it is a very steep drive, very sharp corners, and the parking is a tad dangerous for this specific property. We had a van and had trouble cranking it because of the elevation of the “park” above the unit. This may not be the place for people who have a hard time with stairs and uneven surfaces, this coming from a special needs family. Sturdier furniture and more rugs to cover the garage type flooring would have made it more comfortable. Overall it was pleasant, and no bugs either!

The Perfect Birthday Vacation

We stayed here for my wife's 74th birthday and she loved it so much that once we left in the morning of our last day we had to come back because she (I believe purposely haha) left her earrings on the bedside table. Anyway, the place was perfect for the two of us. We chose a place that was not too far to go to several hikes and while we did not expect to use the hot tub, it turned out that it was a great way after long days of hiking to relax in for 15 minutes. The place itself had everything we needed (although as long-time tent campers, we bring a lot of things so didn't use everything provided). From here we drove to Catawba Falls one day and on another drove to Grandfather Mountain and Linville Caverns.We also were only a few miles from the Blue Wall Preserve which was a nice short hike. The neighborhood is very quiet and nice to sit outside in the morning with the sounds of the birds in the trees. If we drove one way we were in Landrum and the other way Tryon so unique places to eat in both! All in all, this place was great for the two of us!

Property was in a good location but the actual cabin was a little rough. There were holes in the sheet rock, some partially patched sheetrock and some generally poor repairs done on the inside. The bed was not comfortable and there were some strange things like a tv set on a cabinet that did not face either the couch or the bed and could only be watch while standing in the kitchen. The air conditioner was really loud and I am not sure it was functioning at all. There was very little for cups or utensils in the kitchen. In addition, what I assume was the property owner decided to do yard work and use a leaf blower outside the cottage until 8:30 at night. This both took away from the peace and quiet we were looking for, but also made it feel like it wasn't private like the ad represents. Has potential but needs a lot of work.

Was really excited about our stay here for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We arrived 11:30pm to find the house did not have hot water. We waited to contact the property manager until the morning due to how late it was. We were unable to get showers before leaving so maintenance could come in. They did give us the code to the cabin beside of us to use for a quick shower but by the time that was offered we had already left for the day. Maintenance supposedly replaced everything but when we returned that evening there was still no hot water. We decided to pack up and get a hotel for the evening and requested our money back. I was then asked for more information on the issue?? Not sure what more was needed other than to know there was not hot water. They said they would contact me the next morning in regard to the refund I requested but I did not receive anything until I asked again in the afternoon. I was again told they were following up and would contact me the following day. Again nothing until I asked that evening. I was finally informed I’d be reimbursed for two of the three nights.

Very simple property that fit the need for a short breaks away from normal life. It was tidy and had all the basic essentials. It rained during our stay, so we didn’t get to use the fire pit or hot tub, but we enjoyed the peacefulness of the area.

This is a cute tiny cabin. The pros are it’s convenient to both Landrum and Tryon. The hot tube was great and we thought the bed was very comfortable. Cons: The TV was in a very weird spot and could not be moved to watch from the couch or the bed. Also, we couldn’t figure out how to work the TV. I found out the remote was dead and needed to be charged, that is something that should be done before we arrive. There are very few glasses in the kitchen. I had to drink wine from a coffee cup. It could use a paint job over the areas that have been patched, just makes the feel of the cabin undone. All in all we had a great trip but maybe include a book of area attractions and restaurants and how to operate certain things in the cabin.

Two things about this property that make it good: 1 is the location- short drive to historic lundrum and Tryon, 2 there is a hot tub. The parking is a narrow spot that fits a small crossover, SUV or sedan. uphill so difficult to get in and out of the car. The floor is coated concrete so like a garage. Smelled musty but once we got the dehumidifier going it went away. The chinsy bistro table is centered over a drain so it isn't stable. I used my foot to hold it down from wobbling. We ate out most of the time so we dealt with it once. There is no bathroom sink so you have to get used to the idea of brushing your teeth ect at the kitchenette sink. Not terrible but not conveinent either since all your toilettries have to be stored in your bag if you plan to use the kitchen for anything. Bring cups, all that were there was juice and coffee cups. The rest of the kitchen supplies were adequate. The worst about this place was the bed. The mattress is soooo bad and also the pillows. We bought new pillows to use but we kept rolling into the center of the bed on top of each other. They aren't done renovating and if they are thier handy guy sucks. An earlier review showed holes in the dry wall. All that is patched now but not sanded and painted. The lake is across the street and down the road.. no walk path on the road. If they don't deal with the retaining walls the front "yard" will be washed out. Doesn't matter since there is no view of the lake.
