Checked in and noticed one of the rooms had black mold on the ceiling. Left immediately. I was refunded my money. The host was understanding and accommodating.

I would rate 3.5 stars. Host was great, location was great. Had a variety of fun board games. The house had basic cleaning done but could use detailed cleaning of doors, air vents, bathtub drains (master bath drained very slowly), etc. I would also recommend replacing the cabinet in the master bedroom with a clothes rack so there would be at least one spot to hang clothes. Overall it had everything you needed for a short stay and was a fair price.

Great house

The house is great. It was perfect for us, the kitchen was well stocked as well as the bathrooms and the beds were very comfy. However the house is advertised as * walk to sand*, the beach is a few blocks away. It's farther than I would be willing to walk with all our beach supplies and back after a day of sun and sand but it'a short drive away

Surfside

Nice, but not the cleanest. Every mattress was stained (No Mattress Protectors). Floors and walls dirty. Master Bath has plumbing problems. Ants around the kitchen sink. Overall it's ok. Needs some attention. Plenty of spoons & knives. Only 4 forks for a family of 4.

The kitchen, bathrooms, and bed linens were clean. The extra blankets in the living room and the sofa couch were dirty (couch crevice packed with food crumbs) and the towels were stained but appeared clean. The microwave doesn't work and the grill is in horrible condition. We planned most of our meals around the grill and were able to make the small section that functions work. Which is good because the pots and pans all appear to have been used on the grill and are also in horrible condition. The deck is in horrible shape with nails sticking out everywhere and a large chunk is sagging. There is one piece of outdoor furniture falling apart and just has cushions added to the broken area. Four chairs and a small table were in good shape. The corner of the deck beside the grill seems to be storage for trash. If you need the outdoor shower you have to stand in the mud to use it which defeats the purpose of cleaning up. The toilet in the en suite bathroom did not flush well and came close to overflowing several times with not even toilet paper being flushed. Most of the silverware was also visibly dirty. The entry code lock did not function. If you just need somewhere to sleep and shower, this place is sufficient but if you plan to hang out and cook you're better off somewhere else.
Grill, we had to scrub the melted plastic from what looks like a microwave rack off.

Dirty and uncomfortable

Pros: walking distance to beach, cute, decently equippedCons: the place clearly hadn’t been cleaned as there was dog fur and hair everywhere. It seemed no surface or floor had been wiped or swept. There was a bug in our bed, spiders throughout, and the bathtub faucet was seriously rusted from the Surfside water (not suitable for kids). The water there is not potable so it would’ve been nice to have one jug of drinking water available already but there wasn’t. The faucet water also smells horrible as if it came straight from the ocean (not the property’s fault but fyi). The Evolve property manager was dismissive of how unclean the place was and only offered for someone to come out and change our linens. The place definitely needs some more updates as there are several hazards to kids: top bunk bed is broken, exposed nails all over the deck, etc We definitely will not be staying here again.

We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:- We take the accuracy of our listing seriously and we note that the tap water is not potable and we do not provide drinking water. Guests can refill 5-gallon water cans for free at a nearby city office just 0.25 miles away.- After inspecting the deck, they did not find any exposed nails but will continue to monitor for any safety concerns, and the crack in the upper bunk bed slat has already been repaired to ensure guest comfort.- A major freeze occurred the week before your stay, which may have caused some bugs to seek warmth indoors. However, the home was treated for pests both before and after the freeze, and regular maintenance is in place to keep the space bug-free.- We have also addressed your feedback with the cleaning team, as we are committed to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.We appreciate your feedback so this homeowner can continue providing great stays for future guests!
