We stayed in what appeared to be an older abandoned mobile home. The lights did not work, there were zero accommodations, not even a garbage can. The place was cleanish but do not open any cupboards or you will find a hundred dead fish flies. The "restaurant" was not serving food. The whole place was very run down. We stayed because there was a film festival in the area and all the local hotels were booked. We feel we were very overcharged for what we received. I do not recommend staying. The check in lady was very nice but the property was not.

To many bugs inside the tipi and the ac wasn’t working properly. Need to upgrade their ac’s.

Stayed 1 night in the "Horse 1" teepee with our big dog. Positive: 1. Personable & friendly staff. We called ahead & the kind lady thoroughly explained what we should expect since we were arriving after hours. Info packet was waiting outside the registration office/restaurant when we arrived around 10pm. There are picnic tables outside the building where we sat down to eat dinner. 2. It was as clean as one should expect inside a teepee. Linens & pillows were clean & soft, queen bed was firm (too firm for my taste, but others may prefer it). 3. Very quiet and peaceful on the property. We felt safe & comfortable. Negatives: 1. Bathrooms need more attention. For camping & teepee guests, there are 4 or 5 bathrooms...think of a campground, but with flushing toilet & sink. One had a shower that we didn't use. But I tried out 3 bathrooms & they all needed some TLC. 2. They advertise "A/C" for the teepees...no. It's a portable evaporative cooler that didn't have water in the reservoir. A plastic watering can was provided, but we had to hunt down water & fill it ourselves (sink basin was too small). That was a bummer; we were tired, it took 5 trips to fill, & it was a warm night. 3. Boardwalk path around the teepees is unstable; unexpected dips & rises. Not safe for people with stability/walking difficulties. 4. Teepee requires bending down to get in/out; can be too difficult for some. 5. Teepee isn't escape proof. So if you're dog is an escape artist, teepee is NOT recommended.

I thought I was going to be in a room. Instead, it was a teepee. When I booked the title said teepee, but the photos were a room. I thought I was going to be staying in the photos I saw. That was not the case. That said, the teepee was shockingly nice. Far more spacious than imagined. There were 3 beds and a good amount of additional room. It had a working ceiling fan, a mini fridge, a heating/cooling unit. It was actually quite nice. Bedding was good and clean. There are only 2 bathrooms on property--and they are shared by anyone not using their RV. One bathroom was surprisingly nice: tiled, rain shower head, good size, decently clean. The other was the opposite. They have a diner connected to the main office. Other than a Chevron up the street, there is no other place to eat in town. The closest is McDonald's 30 minutes away. The diner was a one-woman show. She was the waitress, the cook, the cashier...everything. The food was okay.

This is amazing place to experience . If you're open to adventure , like camping and love beautiful views of Sierras , this is the place . Highly recommend

We were a group of four adults and we are family and we did get upgraded to a family unit which is two bedroom two bath with the kitchen and living room with dining area. Basically it is a refurbished older manufactured trailer type housing unit. It was very dirty. There was a huge camel spider on the wall. The AC is only a wall unit and we were all very hot in the rooms because they see and it was out in the living room. The windows had no screens we could not open them to let in the desert breeze. The trash containers had no bags in them, luckily, I always bring my own. There was long black hair in the bathtub and sink of the full bathroom. The half bath had a soft floor around the toilet. We were there for one night only and it was OK because we got good sleep and but we had to spray bug spray all over the unit. We were able to cook in the morning our own breakfast which we had brought with us and that was nice. There are dishes and pots and pans for use. The full fridge works OK. It doesn’t really freeze as it should. I do not know the conditions of the other units, but that was the condition of our unit. There is a gift shop/café/cafeteria area when you first enter the park. The swimming pool was nice and clean. It is OK for a desert community I guess.

Great place to lodge in Owens Valley, which is the location for great adventures and for visiting the Eastern Sierra also. The establishment has a cafe and several types of lodging accommodations. Our lodging was well furnished, clean and everything worked. Check-in was easy. The place was safe, quiet and has a spectacular view of the Sierra crest. Highly recommend. Thank you!

You have to recalibrate your expectations for a "resort". There is little lodging available in this part of the Owens valley and prices reflect it. The property is very dusty desert and the poor fit and finish of the cabins means dust gets inside. There is debris scattered around outside. I ran into a large board laying about with nails poking up through it. Electrical outlets in the cabin were failing - plugs routinely fall out. The door lock striker plate was poorly fixed to the broken jam, and had to be fiddled with constantly to get the door to close. Windows don't work properly or at all. Kitchen cabinets were labeled with "pots" and "pans", etc but but the only items provided were two dishes, two cups and a toaster. No utensils, pots, pans or any other kitchenware. The only way to use the toaster was to have it dangle over the sink where there was an outlet. The refrigerator barely kept items cold and made a grotesque and very loud creaking sound when opened. The cafe was nice but was open randomly, not according to the posted hours. It would not take that much effort to fix up the place, but there seems to be no motivation to do so.

Only criticism I have is the Tipis need coffee in the morning. A Keurig would be nice. The food was phenomenal, best fries we have had in a long time, and my bacon chicken wrap was super tasty 😋 The host was very friendly and helpful.

Staff at the place and at Olancha cafe were amazing. They made the stay amazing. The accomodation was adequate, cozy, the night sky was amazing.

The units could you a bit of maintenance, but the compensation is the view you get of Mount Whitney its amazing, also the property has a small family owned restaurant with great tasting food.

The property was up to par with expectations. I knew we were going into a tipi lodging which meant no sealed floors, no insulation, minimal comfort no restroom within the lodging itself. That being said, everything was great when working. The place can definitely get more loving from the owners/management, and the food when available from the cafe is pretty decent. It's not the cheapest but not the most expensive. Call ahead to see if the pool is ready before you book. When we went, none of the staff knew if the pool was ready for use.

Room was clean but there are no basic amenities like hand soap, wall outlets don’t work. There are hardly any places to eat near by this hotel. This hotel has a cafe, but the front desk staff was not interested in cooking. He suggested to drive few mins down and get food from near by gas station.

What a unique way to begin our trip to see the Superbloom in Death Valley! It was so memorable to stay in the "Buffalo TeePee". You feel closer to the land & really hear all the sounds of nature such as owls hooting & the song of the coyotes. It's a comfortable cross between a hint of what it must have been like for the Indians on the prairie to the modern day convenience of waking up in a bed with a toasty electric warmer right in your TeePee. The rustic western-style Olancha Cafe greets you with wonderfully home-cooked meals as well. I highly reccomend this place to all for it's one-of-a-kind experience.

This place should be shut down. We left after one night. It is completely run down and the restaurant smells like grease. I ate a hamburger which I’m still regretting. I asked for my money back for the night I cancelled and have yet to hear from anyone. If you see this place- keep driving.

The check in host was the friendliest guy. The yurt/tent was neat and comfortable. One thing to note is that if you’re staying on a cold night in winter, there aren’t lots of warm blankets. I had an extra from the car so I was comfortable enough but I was glad I had that one of my own. Overall, an enjoyable quirky place to stay.

This is our favorite place to stay when visiting both Death Valley and Mt. Whitney. We have no troubles with bringing our large dog with us. The beds are comfortable, the high-desert scenery is breathtaking, and staff are friendly. The only thing that was a little confusing is that you check in at the Cafe. No trouble, you can order dinner at the same time.
