About this property

Holiday Cottage in the peaceful area Yorkshire dales National Park

Sandbed cottage provides an ideal base for those wishing to get away from it all and enjoy the famous Howgill Fells, loved by Wainwright and illustrated in his celebrated books.
Lovingly renovated, this cottage offers first-class self-catering accommodation, full of modern features yet retaining character and charm.
The open plan living area is spacious and well laid out, with a warm and cosy sitting area with a woodburner, a modern kitchen, a dining area and a beautiful beamed ceiling.
The first floor of Sandbed cottage is reached by a handmade oak staircase, which leads onto a galleried sitting area from where you can watch the wild birds feeding and if your lucky see our native red squirrels. Off the landing you will find two good-sized bedrooms and a spacious shower room.
The accommodation seamlessly combines the exposed stonework and lovely old beams to provide the ideal holiday home to enjoy this quiet corner of Cumbria.

We are lucky to enjoy such an enviable location amid rolling Cumbrian fells and we encourage our guests to sample everything this beautiful area has to offer. Our aim is to provide all our guests with a first class experience. We are dog-friendly. If, prior to your visit, you have any questions or concerns please get in touch and we will do everything we can to help.

Why they chose this property

With access to a hundred square miles of open fell, nearby footpaths will lead you to stunning, hidden waterfalls and tiny becks, while across the fell is an amazing limestone pavement, known locally as Fell End Clouds.
With the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks within easy reach, this cottage is a superb base from which to explore the area.

What makes this property unique

The Howgill Fells are on our doorstep and you do not need to drive at all in order to enjoy good walking amid beautiful Cumbrian scenery. The undulating terrain is more gentle than the central Lake District fells and all levels of fitness are catered for. Additional walking is just a short drive away in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.
Nearby towns and villages such as Kirkby Stephen, Sedbergh and Ravenstonedale offer much of interest as well as a wide selection of places to eat.

Golf, horse riding and fishing can be enjoyed nearby as well as cycling, mountain biking and bird watching.
The scenic Settle-Carlisle Railway is just few miles away from Sandbed Cottage. Tickets for round trips between Settle and Carlisle can be purchased on board the train and offer a great day out with wonderful views of spectacular Cumbrian scenery.
Sandbed Cottage provides amazing views and a rural location that combine to ensure our guests will always have fond memories of this very special place and will want to return, time and time again. A wonderful cottage to be enjoyed at any time of the year.
