Town: Kirriemuir is a magnificent red sandstone town in the Strathmore Valley, and is known as the gateway to the Angus Glens, which boast some of Scotland's most pristine scenery. The birthplace of novelist JM Barrie, creator of the beloved children's figure Peter Pan, is located in the town, and the house is now a museum run by the National Trust for Scotland. Glamis Castle and the famous Pictish Stones at Meigle are also located in Kirriemuir, while the Angus Glens provide excellent hill walking and mountaineering opportunities.
